but what's surprising his how few problems there are

I've found that surprising too. Presumably it's the tragic circumstances which resonates with most people's feelings in PL about r*SSia. Anyway, so far it's worked and may it continue to work.

Presumably it's the tragic circumstances

The ongoing migration that picked up in the late teens played a role too... Ukrainian labor was an important part of Polish economic success then and that helped create positive feelings about both countries in both countries.....

You can take your permission and do what you feel is appropriate.
You don't have mine to insult Russia with your childish spelling and asterisks.

Ukrainian labor was an important part of Polish economic success

If Poland was an economic success, 3 million Poles would be in Poland now. They left because Poland sucks. Now, Poland needs the missing labor and replaces their own with foreigners who hate them.

Hey, why not invite Roma Gypsies? Are they an asset, too? They spend money so they would be great for your economy, right?

A huge one. It means the influx had started already and was mostly problem free. Plus of course a cultural and linguistic similarity. Doubtless there will be people grumbling (some grumble about anything, by instinct) and sooner or later some asshat right-wing politician will try to dog-whistle about it to get votes, however so far, public opinion seems positive. And waverers are probably quite pleased about Poland's emergence as a leading European country in part because of their response to the wat and this of course mitigates most other issues.

russia's openly stated plan to create 10's of millions of refugees by attacking civilian infrastructure (a war crime) failed

Nothing to do with Russia's plan. More will come because...

1. Ukraine is like Turkey - in ruins. Did you ever live with the windows missing?
2. Whatever Zholes will restore - over time and at great expense - Russia can and will destroy in seconds.
3. Standard of living is higher in Poland than in Ukraine hence no reason to go back. Would you?
4. The more of them, the more they will feel at home and will feel less need to do back to Ukraine for sentimental reasons since they bring Ukraine with them.

5. The more of them, the lower the desire to learn Polish. There are cities in the US where you don't need to speak English anymore.

6. Polish government will treat them as a protected minority and make Poles second-class citizens. It is already done when medical resources are allocated.

So the question is: how many Ukrainians are too many? Is there a limit? If so, why would there be a limit if they are such an asset?

To my private mind, there isn`t. We will take all.

Urainians are the best refugees Poland can imagine, better than Africans or Arabs for now.

So are Chinese Ph.Ds. How many would you let into your house to stay forever?
How about 40 million highly educated, law-abiding Chinese in Poland? Poles could even stop working with all that brain power...

The Chinese do not integrate, the Ukrainian do.

Utter bo!!ox!
Polish is fairly easy for Ukrainians to learn to speak.
Reading and writing is a separate problem.

Please stop comparing the US to Europe!
We don't have your problems!

The Chinese do not integrate, the Ukrainian do.

No, they don't. Do Poles in Belarus identify as Belarussians or as Poles?

Poland is stil on the map because Poles refused to integrate.

To integrate means to acquire the identity of the host. Speaking the local language and knowing where public restrooms are is not integration. Integration is when you feel exactly the way the locals feel when their national anthem is being played and your emotional reaction to it is the same. The same for the flag.

That is why I avoid hyphenated Americans and other dual-loyalists like a plague.

That is why I avoid hyphenated Americans

So you regard yourself as American and not Polish.
Shame that your neighbours still see you as a Polish immigrant....
The slight accent gives it away.....

. Do Poles in Belaru

It's very simple, being Polish in Belarus is more attractice then being Belarus.

Shame that your neighbours still see you as a Polish immigrant....

I don't care how they see me. I care how I see me - as an unhyphenated, single-loyalty American who speaks only English - even when in a Polish Consulate applying for a Polish passport, at home with my Polish-born wife, and everywhere else...

It's very simple, being Polish in Belarus is more attractice then being Belarus.

That's an evasive move on your part..

The fact is that Poles do not integrate. And neither will Ukrainians in Poland. Three generations down the road they still be Ukrainians, not Poles.

Visibility is another matter...
