So NATO should stop protecting Germany
All NATO members agreed on the timelime to up denfense spending to 2% of the GDP by 2024 - including the USA. Trump's demands are uninformed and hot air, nothing else.
the US should withdraw their soldiers from the German soil
I'm sure that at the moment, most Germans wouldn't mind if they go. Only 22% of Germans believe that the US is a reliable partner. Down from 58% last year.
have you noticed that many German politicians opposed the idea of deploying US soldiers in Poland recently because they were afraid this may irritate the Russian bear enormously?
Haven't heard that. Stationing NATO troops so close to Russia seems to be a rather provoking move (as is Putin's meddling in Ukraine), though. On paper at least, because the handful of Americans that are now in Poland wouldn't stop the Russians for a second.
you think that as soon as Germany have this third largest military budget on the planet, they will soon resume their (in)famous "Drang nach Osten
Before that happens, Poland will develop a "Drang nach Westen" and conquer France. Trump did Merkel a big disservice when he brought up the denfense spending. German parliament might shoot down the whole thing now; especially if Schultz and his SPD get elected. You are living in Poland. You should know that the Germans hate everything that has to do with the military. The Americans and Brits did a good job "pacifying" them after WW2. Now they are complaining.
Have you ever looked at the numbers? Do you really believe that we should waste even more money?
