They destroyed Russia unto its very foundations.
No, they didn't; they exposed the real state of things.
Also, it wouldn't be bad if the whole thing burned down; you could start from scratch to build something worthwhile.
In my opinion, the whole problem hinged on one or the other premise:
- either you haven't burned everything to the ground, or there were enough structures like the KGB that survived and morphed into a new seat of power.
- or even if all burdened to the ground, there was no matter left that was unaffected by Russian civlization and as such, without outside help, you were forced to form into some or other version of what was before.
