Baltic States, Finland, part of Poland (including Warsaw) and a dozen of other states were also part of Russia for more than a century, at least. Does it mean they all dream to reunite? And why if people speak the same language they must dream to unite? Austria and Germany, UK and Ireland, Canada and US, majority of Latin American countries, all just dream to unite? There is other impotant issues to consider beside language. For example social and economic system/realities.

Only way Poland to aid Ukraine if Russia is forced to intervene is to side with Russia and purge any western European influence. Then, those regions in Ukraine that wants with Russia to join with Russia, those who wants with Poland to merge with Poland and those who feel to be of some new ``Ukrainian`` nation to form new state under some new name because even very Ukrainian name belong to Russian history.

There is nothing special about Ukraine's name. The root of Ukraine is word "kraj", which in many Slavic languages just means a "region", "country". Nothing 100% connected to Russia.
