Lech Wałęsa: Zelensky insulted me!

Torq and Ironside will correct you...

We will indeed; and on top of that we will also point out one more thing that Russians and Poles have in common: as opposed to Ukraine, both Poland and Russia are deeply, profoundly and fundamentally anti-fascist countries. Nazism is totally and utterly no-pasaran with us.

Hence, the alergic reactions that we get when we see marches in honour of Waffen-SS Galizien in Kiev, army units named "Heroes of UPA" or nazi-collaborating swine like Melnyk buried with state honours. No true Russian and no true Pole will ever condone fascism and may it forever stay this way.

UURRRAA!!! ... and all that.

Isn't it more palatable for you?

Both are evil to me. Mass murdering unarmed people is evil. And dishonourable. Disgusting. I don't see a point in "grading" war crimes - how much one is more heinous than the other - they both should be condemned.

This is one of the reasons why it often feels like they are second-rate victims

And where did you get that idea? Never heard such sentiment from anyone.

You will not compare me or my countrymen to Germans.

It's you who brought them up into the discussion. I was the one who told you to drop them and focus on your own country.

Don't you dare make these comparisons.

I dare to make those comparisons as a member of a nation that suffered both from the Nazis and the Soviets. Don't dare to tell me what comparisons I can make.

You really should join Twitter.

You are my sister - by history and by blood - so I spend time on you. Otherwise, I do not care if you die or if you live.

You should *hear* what people who care will tell you.

Both are evil to me.

OK, let's leave it at that.

And where did you get that idea?

Well, for one thing - the issue of exhumations. We were able to force Russia to conduct full exhumation of Katyń victims. After the Soviet leadership officially admitted NKVD responsibility in 1990, extensive archaeological and exhumation work commenced in Katyn, Mednoye, Piatykhatky, and Bykivnia Graves.
Somehow, we weren't as consistent with pressure on Ukraine and Volhyn exhumations. Perhaps because in Katyń those were elites and in Volhyn mostly peasants?

Katyń became a central national symbol, Volhyn did not. In general Vohlyn always received less public attention, commemoration, scholarly focus, state support, or symbolic status in Poland, and - I think - because of that Vohlyn never achieved comparable global recognition to Katyń. If you read portals like Kresy or historical articles on the topic, you will see that the descendants of Volhynia victims sometimes voiced this complaint explicitly and you really couldn't tell us in clear conscience that we are wrong, could you?

You really should join Twitter.

I'll pass.

But I'm very happy to see that people express similar sentiments there.

I will argue with them, but not you - traitor.

This is curious. I wrote probably the most normal, sane, reasonable, humane thing - we, Poles, want the truth, respect for the victims and education. We just want you to behave like normal people. And you attack me.

Did you attack me, because you know that RuSSians are incapable of behaving like normal people? Is this where this strange reaction is coming from? 🤨

or is it possible that your Russophobia is affecting your judgment?

Or is it possible that your Ukrainophobia resulting from your family history is affecting your judgment?

We are Russians, not slaves of money like these sad peoples.

You are slaves of Putin and you listen to him like little lapdogs when he's sending you to kill your brothers. Well, not you, personally, of course - you're safe and comfy in New York, Mr Imperialist :)))

We are doing what we believe is right.

So what's "right" about not teaching at RuSSian schools about the Katyń massacre?

When Poles sober up, they will realize that Russia will always be a better partner than Ukraine. Russia has more respect for Poland than Brussels / EU and Ukraine ever will.

When Poles sober up

Some are already sobering up, thanks to Mr Zelensky's recent actions.

8,000 were Polish Army officers (including reserve officers

You mean a teacher or a scientist can't be Polish army officer? WTF? During peace time scientist, during the war an officer of the Polish Army.
It is important to say it otherwise there could be an impression that all if them were career Army officers.

The Westerners are mostly sucking their wife's tit in Prague or Warsaw.

You mean like you in the USA?

Oh yes, the respect of wiping us of the maps...Nah, thanks

Katyń became a central national symbol, Volhyn did not.

I think it gained this status due to the Katyń lie. Because the Soviet Union lied about it for years while pretending, you know, to have this commie "brotherhood" with Poland. People grew up watching "Czterej pancerni i pies." You know what it was like learning at school about the Katyń massacre? "What a hideous betrayal!" That's how I saw it as a kid too.

So the Katyń lie and the supression of the truth about it kind of became a symbol of all Soviet and Polish communist lies and two-faced nature of that regime, I think. The ultimate, evil lie. 🤔

Russia has more respect for Poland than Brussels / EU and Ukraine ever will.

No, it most certainly has not lol

You mean a teacher (...) can't be Polish army officer?

No, I certainly wouldn't say that. :)

It is important to say it

All right, I wasn't sure what you meant.

Gotta beat it, folks. Take care and see you tomorrow. Meanwhile, remember that you're Polish, remember that you're Slavic, and remember that you're anti-fascist. If we all agree on that, everything will be fine in the universe (as my friend from Serbia used to say).

Poles and Russians will always be Slavic. The EU will always be a Western creature. For the past three decades, Poland has been trying to fit into the West, but in the end, it will always strive to be Slavic. Even Germany has realized that working with Russia has more positives than negatives. I don't think that Russia is a threat. The Russia-Ukraine war started because of their internal disagreements. Poland and Europe should have nothing to do with it. Ukraine can join the EU or even NATO, but I doubt it will happen anytime soon.

Poles and Russians will always be Slavic.

putin has his own 'great replacement' going on with central asian muslims (and now they're hoping for mass immigration from India) so.... you're kinda wrong there, champ.

Go back and try again.

Central Asians are good Russians too, regardless of nationality, and they also fought like lions against nazis in WW2.

I am getting sick and tired of your more or less thinly veiled fascism, Maf.

The Russia-Ukraine war started because of their internal disagreements.

Started because drunk rapists decided to colonize their peaceful neighbors

drunk rapists decided to colonize their peaceful neighbors

Yes, Ukrainians persecuted the peaceful civilian Russian-speaking population of Donbass, and wanted to conduct cultural colonization, but that is no reason to call them "drunk rapists," Cms. Here I will defend Ukrainians, because your name-calling is unfair and unjustified.

Stop it, you're embarrassing yourself.... the russian neo-nazi movement dwarfed anything in Ukraine, both in absolute numbers and in per capita terms...

In other news, you'll be thrilled to know russians killed some "civilians" (doubtless "Banderites") in Kyiv last night. Here are a bunch in the metro hiding from the "anti-fascist" missiles....

the russian neo-nazi movement

There were/are neo-nazis in most European countries. In Ukraine, however, it is state authorities not only condoning but also promoting the cult of Waffen-SS and genocidal nazi-collaborators like Melnyk. Come back and talk to me when marches in honour of Waffen-SS units are officially conducted in Moscow like they are in Kiev. Meanwhile, stop embarassing yourself.

russians killed some civilians (...) in Kyiv last night

Are you really sure you want to bring up the topic of civilian deaths?

Very well. About 15,000 Ukrainian civilians died since February 2022 - that's 288 civilians a month.

Now, 288 is certainly a tragic number - it is more or less the number of people that died in car accidents in France every month in 2024 (267). A tragic number indeed. However, as far as wars go it is not the worst. Poland lost about 100,000 civilians in a single month in September 1939 - that was a criminal total war. If you want something closer to our times, then the civilian monthly death toll in Gaza has been at least an order of magnitude higher than anything we saw in Ukraine.

So, if you want to prove Russian barbarous bestiality, you will have to find something else than civilian casualties.

Not remotely true.

Even Girkin and Gubarev now admit that 2014 was a russian invasion and not any kind of local uprising.

Do keep up (or keep on pitying yourself and sucking up to russians, your choice).

OP Torq  41 | 2651

2014 was a russian invasion and not any kind of local uprising

Wrong again. There was both: genuine local component and Russian involvement. Not purely local uprising nor only external invasion but both.

And why oh why might there have been a local uprising in the first place? Could it possibly have had anything to do with linguistic persecution and attempts at cultural colonization of lands which were always as Ukrainian as Przemyśl, Chełm or Sanok (or even less!).

You see, Maf, some people are still able to think for themselves, regardless of all the censorship and propaganda that surrounds us, and not easily manipulated by various Goebbelses and their spiritual Waffen-SS and UPA worshipping children.

Oh, and about that...

I would greatly appreciate if you stopped bringing up my family history on such and similar occasions.
I should never have mentioned it in the first place in this online vipers' nest.

We buried our family members long time ago. All the hearts were already broken, all the tears were already cried out.
We do not ask for revenge, we do not hate nor bear a grudge. All we ask is for various presidents Kurvenskys and their
Waffen-SS and banderist worshipping friends and idols not to spit on our ancestors' graves. That's all.

Ok, kacap.

It's quute clear you didn't.
You dismiss centuries of awfulness with Russia while getting pedantic in collecting any sign of not being completely apologetic about Wolyn.
And it's not about how awful Wolyn was but about you having bias
