Lech Wałęsa: Zelensky insulted me!

... and yet another voice in Poland raised against glorifying genocide perpetrators:

"President Zelensky decided to name one of the brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine not after a commander of the UPA or a UPA company that fought against the Soviets and had no Polish blood on its hands. Instead, he gave it the name "Heroes of the UPA," thereby honoring the entire formation that committed genocide against Poles. This is a direct expression of the Ukrainian side's extraordinary arrogance."

onet.pl/informacje/onetwiadomosci/jurasz-o-burzy-po-decyzji-zelenskiego-co-dalej-z-ukraina-mamy-trzy-opcje/w9n7er0,79cfc278

"The fact that Kyiv has once again allowed itself to spit in Poland's face requires a firm and unequivocal response." - yes! Finally! I (and others) have been saying this for years.

"Why is it that, despite all the assistance Poland has provided to Ukraine, Kyiv allows itself to show contempt toward us?" - a good question but even better question is: what should we do about it?

For those of you who still haven't realised what's going on - this is huge. Before, only fringe parties - like Konfederacja - and certain civic activists, Kresy organisations etc. talked openly about Ukrainian quasi-nazism and their worship of Waffen-SS and other genocidal formations. These days it is the president, the prime ministers, both the government and the opposition, finally standing up to the banderists ideology in Ukraine. The whole Poland speaks with one voice. Finally.

Enough is enough.

History meets the modern day in Ukraine.

The next move of president Zelensky must be naming another Ukrainian army unit "The Heroes of Waffen-SS Galizien". Be consistent, Mr President.

If I could, I would kiss president Zelensky on both cheeks - he finally woke up the entire Poland. An outstandingly brilliant move! :)

Logical next move indeed. There is no reason to favor one group of genocidal maniacs over another.

There are marches in honour of Waffen-SS Galizien in Kyiv, young Slavic man are putting flowers on the graves of those who fought for White Pride World Wide - Mr President, what are you waiting for?

Are you talking to yourself? I thought you and GK were the same person...

From the Ukrainian pov they're honoring those who fought against the soviets (like the legionnaires in Latvia) and not pledging loyalty to a fuhrer...

How are Ukrainians killed by the AK qualitatively (not quantitatively) different from Volhyn (which Ukrainians do not celebrate)?

Are you talking to yourself?

I am indeed. Moreover, I agree with myself! :)

This is called internal dialogue - look it up.

I thought you and GK were the same person...

Hm... more like two sides of the same noble and valuable coin.

From the Ukrainian pov they're honoring those who fought against the soviets

This is like saying: From the German neo-nazis pov they celebrate the trains that were running on time in the Third Reich, not the Holocaust. Come on, Maf, don't be more retarded than is absolutely necessary.

How are Ukrainians killed by the AK qualitatively (not quantitatively) different from Volhyn Genocide victims

In the same way that German civilians killed by Allied bombings are different from Holocaust victims.

This is like saying: From the German neo-nazis pov they celebrate the trains that were running on time in the Third Reich, not the Holocaust.

What?

Are you saying that you cannot pick just one positive aspect of the Third Reich and be a neo-nazi and glorify it whilst claiming that you aren't celebrating the genocides?

Are you saying that in today's Germany you couldn't name a train station "The Third Reich Station" and claim that it is because trains were running on time in the Third Reich and that it has nothing to do with Holocaust?

Yes, that is exaclty what I'm saying, Kania, but Mafketis here doesn't seem to understand it.

OK, thanks - just wanted you to clarify.

The question, of course, remains - what should Poland do in light of Ukrainians spitting in our faces and on the graves of our little children?

Who knows? If they honour and glorify the genocide perpetrators, maybe they will one day want to commit genocide against Poles again?

Some ideas:

- stop paying for all those Starlinks;
- close and strongly fortify the Polish-Ukrainian border;
- stop all forms of support for Ukrainian refugees in Poland;
- expel all conscription age Ukrainian men;
- stop sending trains full of weapons and ammo eastwards;
- open a goodwill and unbiased dialogue with Russia.

All of the above? None? Any other ideas? Post your thoughts and proposals on ways how to fight glorifying of genocide and nazism in Ukraine.

And - of course - let's give credit to Mr President Zelensky who, with his brilliant move, opened the box full of such and similar ideas.

GefreiterKania  34 | 1490

let's give credit to Mr President Zelensky

Quite right.

You can be a neo-nazi, you can glorify Waffen-SS Galizien and UPA, you can even masturbate every morning to a portrait of Adolf Hitler. You can do all these things. However, if you are a president of a country, especially a country at war, you have to consider the political consequences of your actions. I wonder if Mr Zelensky had indeed considered all the possible consequences before naming an army unit after genocidal sickf*cks.

It's been done many times

The Ukrainians are betting on Poland being focused on Russia as a threat and guillably accepting all they say while doing whatever they want which is unacceptable.

They want common sense while doing something unacceptable.

And? Aren't they right? One enemy at a time, I say....Poland can hardly show Ukraine the cold shoulder now as they fight Russia...

There is "unacceptable" and then there is "suicidal"!

Finally, a voice of reason. Unfortunately, there's little chance of success.

they fight Russia

I don't give a toss if they fight Russia, China or the Devil himself.

As long as they worship nazis and other genocidal sickf*cks, Poland should have NOTHING to do with them.

Poland needs Ukraine!

Imagine a possible future....in Germany the AfD together with the somewhat leftist BSW make peace with Putin....will it be again "Poland, the Christ of Nations"?

No upcoming rightist gov in Europe is interested in bad relationships, not to speak of war, with Russia....beside Ukraine and Moscows possible new victims....a very sad fact of life....

OP Torq  41 | 2651

Poland needs Ukraine!

I would argue that at the moment Ukraine needs Poland more, and despite this fact they continue to spit in our face.

AfD together with the somewhat leftist BSW make peace with Putin

So what will happen then? Tell me. Germany, still in NATO and with American troops still stationed there, will invade Poland together with Russia? And what next?

Sorry, BB, but Poles - from left to right, from Tusk to Kaczynski - are no longer buying this "Ukraine is fighting Russia, so we should allow them to worship nazis and other genocidal animals" nonsense. Nope. Enough is enough.

Bratwurst Boy  10 | 12827
30 May 2026   #47
Tell me.

Germany isn't a thread and won't invade anybody....and a US lead NATO won't go to war for anyone of us, thats sadly true too....just keeping out of Moscows shenanigans and stopping supporting Ukraine with money, weapons and anti-russian sanctions would do the trick.

I have no idea what will come next, if I'm honest....

OP Torq  41 | 2651

I have no idea what will come next, if I'm honest...

Neither have I, but I know one thing - Ukraine has pissed on our graves one time too many. If even Tusk and Kaczyński agree on something, then the banderists better watch how they f*cking tread next.

Bratwurst Boy  10 | 12827

Yeah....that surely wasn't their smartest hour!

The french FN did cut ties with the AfD after one of them said the Waffen-SS hadn't been "so bad" either....

It seems the rise of rightist govs in Europe is unstoppable....meaning also the return of the "the ones hero is the other ones mass murderer" thinking too...back to a fragmented, disunited, infighting and utterly weak Europe....free for the taking!

Especially with a UK and a US which are no longer the same they once were....

OP Torq  41 | 2651
30 May 2026   #50
Yeah....that surely wasn't their smartest hour!

That's putting it very mildly. I mean, Ukraine is a big country and they have over 1000 years of history since Kievan Rus - surely they must have had better heroes in their entire history? But, somehow, they insist on honouring exactly those from Waffen-SS and those who commited genocide against Poles. If they can't find better heroes in their millenium of history, then I have no other questions.

one of them said the Waffen-SS hadn't been "so bad"

lol

We must have missed this story in Poland. Do tell.

back to a fragmented, disunited, infighting and utterly weak Europe

Ah, well. Tough sh*t. If it's either this or tolerating nazi-worship, then I'd rather have a fragmented Europe (and be in the fragment that doesn't worship genocidal sickf*cks).

.....wait....goes searching....

Far-right alliance in European Parliament breaks up on nazism

Thank you. So much was happening that I must have missed this story. Amusing :)

Anyways, all this makes me think that perhaps, after all, we have misjudged His Excellency the President of the United States of America Donald John Trump?

Perhaps his attitude towards Zelensky was/is, at least partially, justified?

Bratwurst Boy  10 | 12827

How are Ukrainians killed by the AK qualitatively

Because for the one side it was an ethnic cleansing by choice and for the other (AK) it was a measure aimed at stoping ethnic cleansing. Which was successful.

Poland needs Ukraine!

Poland can make them pay for their actions. There are many escalation levels. No need to go to the extreme right away.

Why is nobody arguing with me anymore?

Come on - give me your best arguments! Prove me wrong!

No?

I was kinda hoping somebody would prove me wrong. Ah, well...

For people who don't want a solution, no solution will be acceptable.

You want to seethe in righteous anger and are prioritizing that at the cost of everything else.

Have fun, but I'm not interested in enabling you.

Enjoy your self-righteous seething.

OP Torq  41 | 2651
30 May 2026   #59
Why would I offer solutions

Why indeed.

No solutions, no solid arguments, no willingness to admit being in error.

self-righteous seething

Whilst I admit that self-righteous seething isn't particularly admirable or noble, I still prefer it over justifying the glorifiers of genocide perpetrators.
