The amount of reserves is, in any theoretical conflict Russia would attrition the living sh*t out of Poland in 2-3 months, we dont have enough hardware, Russians do.

I don`t agree...

Probably German army could conquer us faster than russian.

Look in 44 i Warsaw died a lot of civilians and the huge amount of soldiers (polish and german)

In similar conflict i Gaza died 700 civilians, about 100 palestinan soldiers and 17 israels.

The war is changed

So, which of those would be the equivalent to the Iron Cross?

I always thought that Polish rough equivalent of Iron Cross was the Cross of Valour (Krzyż Walecznych).

That looks cool! Is it still being awarded? (The link doesn't tell)

I think it is, it's on the current award list anyway (6th from the top)...

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_awards_and_decorations

The Polish link...

pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krzy%C5%BC_Walecznych

...says that it was still awarded in the period of 1943-1985, but doesn't say anything
about present times.

I wonder where would Germans and Russians meet if they started conquering us.

only cretins

Only cretins get there medals posthumosly, fighting someone elses wars.

who spit on their own countries

I dont think you could find bigger patriot than me.The difference between me and you is that I am advocating another direction and you want to repeat same mistakes as in 1939 i lubisz chyba właźić w dupe usakom.

Wow! In just one sentence you managed to insult the memory of thousands of Polish
soldiers who very often died fighting someone else's wars (sometimes even wearing
foreign uniforms, like during partitions). Well done.

You just managed to smear thousands of our soldiers, better people than you, you little pr*ck, my sh*t is a bigger patriot then you.

The difference between me and you is that I am advocating another direction

And what would that direction be? P*ssing on the memory of our nation finest?

I wonder where would Germans and Russians meet if they started conquering us.

Probably in economic collapse land, both of them would win against Poland but both of them cant afford such a war financially and politically and in Russias case probably also militarily since a Finnland scenario would be likely.

And Germany would destroy a good amount of our own investments...we so wouldn't like that! :(

Aha, Sokrates. He will always defend the Polish corner. Such a strategy doesn't always work as the Polish side isn't always right. The same as in any country. I will go against sth Scottish if I feel it not to be right.

It really strikes me as odd that Poles speak out against how bad things are but yet I rarely hear a bad word on the forum about them.

I'm convinced that that could easily be disproven if put to the test.

That probably isn't going to happen in the near future.
The Polish military is also very small compared to a lot of other countries in the world. Their military spending is also low.
This actually proves how smart the Polish government is. They are now concentrating on issues which matter(health, education, roads, etc) rather than a useless asset like an army.

Look at India and China. they maintain the largest militaries and spend massive amounts of money...but their people are starving. They make nukes but don't have money to bake bread.

A war today is not won by the army, it's won by your economy, your diplomacy and your alliances. The army is just something which governments use to stroke their egos with and use as a political weapon to gain votes. How many years has it been seen Europe actually landed themselves in a war? More than 60...Now that is the way to go.

Well, they got a run out in the War on Terror but it wasn't such a sensible step. It kept them sharp, yes, but may put Poland in the line of fire somewhere down the line.

The EU should never have got into this war of terror business in the first place. Its a waste of time.

I couldn't agree more. America, the military giant, has had help from 41 other countries, many of them European. They still haven't won the war in Afghanistan and they won't.

In this regard we western countries should take a leaf from the Israeli Mossad schoolbook...
Going after the heads of our enemies with little troops of highly trained agents would proof much more efficient and successful. We should concentrate on the brains of our most dangerous enemies...not trying to "export" our way of living.

Not to mention that we would avoid creating new enemies with killing innocent civilians.

They still haven't won the war in Afghanistan and they won't.

No but they will destroy the country and starve them all to death and go back home to Baskin Robins and Cheeseburgers and talk about the mighty American military. Unfortunately, Poland's name in history will also go down along similar lines.

Work smarter, not harder.... You could make the same impact with 1/100th of the budget, and a plane load of guys with a plan.

LOL, exactly. They keep fumbling around with various strategies, most of them are not efficacious. They need to learn from previous mistakes. I'm sure the Poles in the Polish Army are familiar with Wojciech Jagielski. His book has really given me insights into how they think there, the Afghans that is.

the Afghans that is.

I know quite a few of them(lots of refugees in Delhi). They really are the most loyal and courageous people I have ever seen. In Urdu there is a saying "afghan ki jabaan" which directly translates to "the word of an Afghan". Meaning, that when an Afghan gives you his word, he will rather die than break it. There is saying amongst the more war oriented people in India, That there are some men who you are born to live with and there some some with whom youre meant to die with. The afghans are the second kind. They are also all poets. really fascinating people.

also poland is an ally of america so it would be russia vs. america, i didnt do a search but i was wondering what the reaction to obama pulling the missle defense system to poland and rolling over like a dog for russia, no worries obama does not represent America and consider the polish soldiers available for fight from outside of Poland ex. USA and UK even as semsem also said.

I dont think anyone seriously thinks US would do anything, they have no business here, their membership in NATO is just paper.

Another source of useful information: Ukraine - 25th, Poland -30th

This ranking is nonsense. Indonesia is way too high, Mexico hardly has any military... Ukraine nad Belarus have a lot of ex-Soviet equipment but no money to maintain It and train soldiers... Poland should spend 20-30% more on the military to get rid of the Soviet equipment faster but unless we start spending 10% of our GDP on the military, we have no chance fighting alone again Russia anyway and the rest are either friendly or weaker countries, so any rapid militarization of Poland would be senseless.

But how it would look for present and especially future US's allies if they say "Yes mr Russian, you can have Poland in exchange for..."

Well, Obama could very well say something like this, but this guy will not stay there forever. And Russia will not be ready to attack PL in the next five years anyway. Or twenty, probably. Latter, is anyone's guess.

The most idiotic conclusion pull out of your own rear end.

Total destruction of national Polish arms-industry was a priority for all political parties and organisations in Poland.

You do know that Poland now manufactures Black Hawk 'copters, don't you. The first 200 to be bought by the US.
