Polish Independence Day March in Warsaw. Is it going to be the biggest march yet?

it has everything to do with patriotism

Just look at these patriots!

What are they doing to make Poland better? Nothing.

By the way, how can nationalist fascists hijack something that they organise? The march is organised by Młodzież Wszechpolską and the ONR!

OK Delph

Stick to your left wing agenda and ignore everyrhing you have learnt about Poles and Poland,or chose to ignore, and plough on!
You just don't get Poles.......

And I think you are wrong about the November 11th march too

No - I live here. I seem to know more about the situation than you do. After all - we are both British, but I, after 27 years here, am more "Polish" than you Miloslaw,, and hear how people feel. Because I ask them. City folk hate having to move out of the city for the day, just because of the crowds of villagers shipped in for the "celebrations". Of course some, out of patriotism, attend, and try to enjoy the day, but the inane chanting soon drives them home to their family lunch.

That's the message I get every year anyway......

He doesn't get plenty of things, like basic economy, not only Poles :-)

But he also makes this thread more popular so all is forgiven

@Dougpol

I get where you are coming from, but maybe the opinions you hear come from the type of people you choose to mix with.
The same accusation could be labeled at me too....but my feedback is the opposite of yours.

You just don't get Poles.......

I get them, which is why I understand that the march is meaningless and that the vast majority of people want nothing to do with it.

Think about it: Warsaw has well over 3m people in the metro area. Yet, even by the organisers own estimates, they only managed to get 60,000 to turn up, and that's with football ultras attending from all over Poland from their villages.

I just can't understand why you hate it so much....

Because it's threatening, aggressive, in your face, and inane.
Simple really. Here to help:) Of course, some people like such parades, but they shouldn't be permitted to break the law with flares, overtly racist banners, and rampant racist chanting. It is against European law. Poland took the money - now she has to abide by Europe's laws.

That is why democratic politicians stay away. They know what will happen to their majorities if they associate with the mob. This march is an imposition, not a march of the people.

I get where you are coming from, but maybe the opinions you hear come from the type of people you choose to mix with.

Absolutely. I had considered that skewing. Damn.

If it was meaningless you wouldn't attack it with such an aggression

the vast majority of people want nothing to do with it.

What "vast majority"? You and your imaginary friend?

I understand that you personally, as a foreigner, may be baselessly afraid of grassroot national conservative movement but your personal feelings are not the will of Polish nation. Stop being afraid and start trying to understand.

Poland the mayor of Wrocław has outlawed a march there

He should be outlawed. What a major commie scum.

And Warsaw mayor is threatening to call off the march if flares are used...

She can take a hike? Why is she even still in the office where it has been clear she was mixed with mafia. Problem you don't see maf is the fact that people like her instead of being behind the bars for criminal offences are making brazen statements.

he Polish government knows perfectly well what they are doing

Oho out of the sudden from being in opposition to PiS you are their cheerleader - lovely. no they don't know what their are doing they think they are being clever, paving to progressives in EU, and putting down a real opposition to which they could loose large chunk of votes.

Why don't gay parades have a place in Poland ? We either have free speech or we don't

Free speech has legal boundaries, and no Poland has no free speech laws as well defined as USA.

However I think that so called gay parades should be excluded from things that are allowed.

No need for that in Poland.

Just ordinary, patriotic Poles:

Oh stop with that campaign of lies and manipulations. Take something out of contexts show some people doing this or that and present that mix as a valid representation of the people you opposed and vilify for whatever f up reason. Typical commie/fascist tactic.

Just give me a break with you BS.

Just look at these patriots!

Again, not everyone attending the march is a neo nazi. Plenty of families, kids, seniors, etc.

youtu.be/Z4UBVMzyw6w

For whatever reason you ignore that and focus on one group which isnt even the majority. All are patriots, few are skin head neo nazis. Even onr has people of all ages, men and women, walks of life, etc.

And the fact is most poles celebrate in other ways. Some march and watch parades some dont, no different than july 4 in the us. The people who march in parades or watch them is a fraction of the population. Yet just about everyone celebrates it in some way or another.

At the end of the day, the march is the biggest display of patriotism and social conservatism in Europe. Its awesome and sad at the same time. Awesome because it shows poland hasnt and wont be sacrificed on the altar of pc cultural marxist but sad that this is rhe biggest march even though polands population is a fraction of other countries. Then again i guaruntee if such a march were held in france germany uk itd probably get culturally enriched by a migrant, and women assaulted with pillars of Islam.

It most certainly is not the biggest display of patriotism in Europe - many national football matches, sports events, historical parades and royal events attracf far more spectators.

What is is however is the biggest gathering of insecure young males with addiction problems and authority issues anywhere between Łódź and Siedlce.

Yes I was there ! foolishly I had decided to arrange a meeting in Berlin on that day - I think I arranged it just before that semi finals with Brazil. I literally could not get out of my hotel in Potsdamer Platz

Exactly that.

grassroot national conservative movement

Which is absolutely meaningless politically, as witnessed by the failure of "national conservatives" to get more than 1% of the vote.

Still, it's good to keep them all in one place, as it means the rest of Poland is free to enjoy themselves while they march around arm in arm in uniforms. Seriously, no wonder foreign gay men love Polish nationalists so much.

Back in reality, far away from the mad dreams of pseudo-Poles abroad, PM Morawiecki explains why the government wants no part of the great patriotic march.

Apparently he he talked to organizers in an attempt to the march into a: "marsz państwowy; potężna i radosna manifestacja na 100-lecie niepodległości" (a state march, a powerful manifestation of 100 years of independence)

The organizers refused "by powiewały na nim wyłącznie biało-czerwone flagi, żeby nie było żadnych transparentów" (that only white and red flags fly over it, that there be no banners)

He also said the organizers cannot guarantee the safety of participants and bystanders

He encourages everyone to take part instead in a "patriotic picnic" on the same day....

I see. So it's a love-hate relationship in your case?

And Remember that Polish nationalism is based on Christian Personalism which is much different than ruthless German nationalism.

If you really hate nationalism you should rather take a look at German AfD, cause that's where the real nationalistic danger in Europe lies.

PM Morawiecki explains why the government wants no part of the great patriotic march.

Because that is an independent grass roots march and they cannot stand that anything is outside the state and outside PiS control.

So you're pretty much in love but bitter cause they spurned your advances? figures.

I wonder why so many foreigners have an issue with said march? Are they insecure scared little pansies? Well maybe they just commies/progressives.

I wonder why so many people in Poland have an issue with the capital city being occupied by people saluting Hitler and dressing like Germans from the Nazi period.

But that doesn't explain why every other non-crazy party is avoiding it like the plague... If it were just PiS being control freaks then other parties would jump on board. But they're not because the disreputable quotient is too high.

But that doesn't explain why every other non-crazy party is avoiding it like the plague...

What parties?
PO - biggest gathering of corrupted opportunistic a-holes with no values that paves to any progressive notion in the EU just to curry a favor with them?

Why would they? They are into whatever progressive - German made idea is baked in Brussels. Without foreign support they would wither and die.

--SLD - post-commies why would they join their arch enemy and nightmare they fought against and killed after 1945? Give me a break.

---PSL - another post-commie organization with a motto - politics equal money and all that. They are not interested for the obvious reasons.

KUKIZ - I don't know if they take part or not. Kukiz that is running that business for all his anti-establishment rhetoric is a pretty much in bed with post-commie establishment and he is pretty much leaning towards some kind of general cheesy liberalism. Also organizers of this march are pretty much his pollical competition compete for the same pool of voter.

by people saluting Hitler and dressing like Germans from the Nazi period.

I see that you insist on slander and lies. Would you be more specific please. Who exactly are you calling Nazis or fascist.? Name people, names and organizations. Are you calling Nazis all people who participate in the march, most of them?

Unless you adders those question directly I will pretty much take your mussing as a pathetic attempt at mud slinging. Do you like to be a monkey?

You are a Polish citizen t? Congrats. Also your real name is not a secret. So if you are in the right here just answer those questions. That would be a good material for a possible law suite in the future for slander. lol! I'm sure you are up the challenge.

You are some sort of "special person" aren't you?

Would you produce a link to a video material with such an event taking place on Independence March?

Even the most fanatical anti-nationalist, anti-march media establishments don't produce such a stupid statements. Do you even know what you're talking about? Do you realise the gravity of your disgusting statement?

So if you are in the right here just answer those questions. That would be a good material for a possible law suite in the future for slander

Same here. This sounds like a slander to me. He could be easily taken to court for such a false claim if anyone would even bother with him. Until now I thought that he's just a clown, but now he reached the new low.

Look, a proud patriot saluting in a manner rather identical to the way that Nazis did during the march.

I do love how pseudo-Poles living abroad resort to threats and abuse when they can't push their favourite narrative.

So he could just be a "true" Hungarian patriot.

Do you see any difference between "patriot" and "nationalist", Dolno? Below, you can see those "patriots" with the banner reading "EUROPE AWAY". Do you imagine a representative of the Polish government participating in the march in Warsaw having such "guests" from abroad?

I think it's a terrible decision and like everything else connected with this Independence Day it's taking about three days before the event which leaves double the number of problems.

If the problem is security then the organisers should have to pay the costs and they should be an alcohol ban

But the second part of her reasoning about having enough of aggressive nationalism is out of line. Even if it's true and these people are morons they still have every right to be out on the street.

Dirk you better put those warm socks on Allegro before it's too late!

Agreed. This is no good decision by HGW. This is not PRL and the mayor cannot simply ban a march because she doesn't like it.

I think she has some other agenda behind her decision. She wants to manipulate the government into defending the march, so she can next say that PiS support the nationalistic scum in Poland.

Luckily for everyone, her decision can be taken to court and I can't imagine a court upholding such a ban (independent courts are very important!).
