What many don't get....the communist sh*t is for many people still alot more fresh and stinky than the nazi sh*it....there are many people still alive which have lived through that, but for 99% the Nazi-droppings are old and dry and don't stink the same way anymore....
I'd argue the big elephant in the room is that even though the Left is all that what you described (and more), it is still the lesser of two evils compared to the AfD.
The Left party holds many unacceptable positions, but it would still be possible to form a government with it that gets some (though not many) things done.
Whenever the CDU got frustrated with the SPD the AfD immediately changed a position so that people in the CDU got not even tempted to look right.
The AfD was initially in favour of conscription. Then Höcke forced the party to abandon this position because he wanted to agitate against conscription in East Germany.
It now looks as if we might get the pension reforms that all know are necessary. The CDU would have liked to push through more, but got frustrated by the SPD. And again the AfD shifted the position and now promises pension benefits that would make even the Left party blush.
And that doesn't even go into the AfD's disturbing obsession with Putin and Russia.

With the "old" Left possibly....there are voices respected across party-borders....Gysi springs to mind (from my 'hood in East-Berlin:), or Ramelow etc....but not the "new" Left wie Pantisano etc....I very much doubt they even want pragmatic politics, they are as crazy as the worst AfD'ler!

On the federal level maybe. But there are still enough pragmatists left in the Länder to form somewhat functioning governments. People one can talk with.
None of those people are left in the AfD. All of them have been purged a long time ago.
