The german Greens are very much against anything nuclear energy, they worked so hard to close all reactors!
They had this vision of a highly industrialized country working successfully solely with "green energy" or what they call it....now that we are finding out that this dream vision is another leftist nighmare the hard way it still might to be seen if the Green Leftists are able to accept their wrongness, their structural failure and will accept the rebuilding of nuclear reactors....I very much doubt that!
In Germany its rather the other way around, the Greens have become alot more mainstream than the Left. Our Left is also deeply estranged and always quarreling inside...alot of that has to do with the communist-part-history...it's not without reason that the AfD is at its strongest in the former East!

Yours seem more ideological, a sort of communism-lite rather than a workers' movement focusing on industrial development and a strong society with capital within it.

Even Germans who would be non-averse to the old Left mainstays like workers rights and overcoming social problems have turned away aghast....
The Greens (and Left) seem generally anti-tech....datacentres for example are protested against whenever they are planned (or even talked about). The german Green/Left prefers a de-industrialized Germany sadly without a plan how to feed its citizens....thats why the Right has such an easy game in these days, they offer a nostalgic version of the german past....highly industrialized and successful economically and socially alot more conservative but now plus new nationalism!
And I think they will rule Germany in the future because of why the Green/Left just f****ed up so badly!
(Okay....the ruling parties like the CDU and the SPD are part of it....without CDU-Merkel for example would the nuclear reactors still be running....and the SPD are for a long time no now less interested in workers rights and Unions but rather in Queers and Muslims...for many Germans there is only one real alternative)
They do use a lot of natural resources. One reason we don't really do them; the lead in time would be too long for building them in terms of planning resources. Even apartment buildings have a planning lead time because of this.

If you listened to Höcke and Chrupalla, then 'd know that they'd much rather see Germans live more in touch in nature. Very much how the Okös in the Green party want. Less consumerism, preferably everyone with his own garden.
Like the Green party they leave out that Germans would end up with a much lower standard of living.
Merkel moved the CDU so much to the left that the Right became an empty void. Without Merkel there would be no AfD today...another big failure from her!

When people hear all the propaganda about that nice and wonderful oh so progressive future and they look out of the window to see the dreary present, such a nostalgic promise gains voters across the ages! Thats how the GDR lost.....

That's the thing...that is not the question!
The AfD promises a change, or at least a stop to the actual "keep at it!" by the usual politicians.
The only talking point right now seems to be how to keep the things going as they are when the AfD wins...even if that means building former impossible coalitions...or as one said so nicely: "The people vote right and still get left!" (Of course the other main talking point seems to be a possible ban for the whole party...but never the needed changes!)
The real party program becomes less important in such a mood....
IMHO the AfD would be alot less successful if the current mainstream wouldn't hate her so much, wouldn't build her up as such a revolutionary party....that brings her all the unhappy voter!

I saw a voting map of Germany relating parties and population. It seemed that the extreme right gets its votes in the eastern part which was shown as less populated.
She is an Ossi (like me)....she had no bond with the western CDU of old, the one of the big names like Erhardt, Adenauer, Kohl....and how could she!
So she made a new kind of politics, populist you would call it today...swinging after the moods and the wishes of what was actual Zeitgeist (otherwise we would still have our nuclear reactors for cheap and clean energy and the mass immigrations of muslims would not have been allowed either)....no interest in what is good for Germany long term...under her rule Germany had the highest number on non-voters....millions of Germans who no longer felt presented, despairing quietly and ignored....till that new party came with open arms...tja!

That happens if too many people vote for a party that has no interest in working with other parties and whose election program is incompatible with them.
Every vote for the AfD is a vote thrown away. If 1/4 of the people who voted AfD in the last election had voted for the CDU instead, than Merz could would have had much greater bargain power during the coalition talks. Maybe then we would have had more CDU "pure".
