The Biedroń efffect - people leaving Słupsk, Polish city in crisis

Robert Biedroń tries to pass hismelf off as a modern mayor who rides a bicycle to work, but that PR ruse is now largely a thing of the past. Onet news portal has reported that in two years' timne Biedroń took part in 48 Polish and foreign delegaitosn including a trtip to las Vegas to attend a homo meetup that had nothing to do with Słupsk's municipal affairs. City officials complain that he is rarely on the job at his office. Since he came to power 4,000 residents have abandoned the crisis-srtciken town, and the mayor's crony-style appointments have come under fire, A TV report said. A theme park under construction inherited from his predecessor has remained unfinished, and a road-imrovement progrmame has stalled. Public dissatisfaction with his rule is growing and the sum total of his shortcomings have come to be known as "the Biedroń effect".Local journalists remark that Biedroń basks in praise but loses his cool and bristles with resentment when his mistakes are exposed.

To put this in context, Po has posted this fake news (Mayor Biedron is popular) for one topical reason. It is because he's recently heavily criticised Jarosław Kaczyński and promised firther revelations.

Complete and total fake news, but as Jon says, Polonius is posting these lies for one reason and one reason only - Biedron is popular and looking increasingly presidential.

and the mayor's crony-style appointments

Actually, as anyone who knows anything knows, one of his very first acts as mayor was to demand that all city management jobs were filled through an open and honest competition. Meanwhile, Polonius ignores the 1000+ cronies appointed by PIS within a year of winning the election.

Since he came to power 4,000 residents have abandoned the crisis-srtciken town

Really? Why isn't this reported anywhere else?

A theme park under construction inherited from his predecessor has remained unfinished

As anyone who follows the story knows, he's been trying to find a way to get the water park completed while not adding to the huge debts that the last mayor incurred over the water park issue. People in Slupsk don't want to pay for it anymore, as it already nearly bankrupted the city.

PiS are simply slandering him because he openly and publicly outed Jarosław Kaczyński as a homosexual. Nothing more, nothing less.

By the way Polly, the S6 expressway from Koszalin to Gdańsk was cancelled by...PiS.

Biedron is popular

Hugely so.

the 1000+ cronies appointed by PIS within a year of winning the election.

A ton of PiS activists were doing part-time non-jobs in Słupsk. They were appointed without interview or any accountability. They were all fired.

Public dissatisfaction with his rule is growing

Hilariously fake news! Unlike Po, who knows so little about Slupsk that he talks about "Baltic coast town of Słupsk", I've been to Slupsk. In fact I lived there for a year. Mrs Harry is from Slupsk and still owns property there. The reality is that Biedron is very popular there and held in high esteem in the city.

A theme park under construction inherited from his predecessor has remained unfinished

More fake news, it's a swimming pool and was always locally thought to be a rubbish idea.

a road-imrovement progrmame has stalled.

Another lie: the road was cancelled by PIS's minions, most probably to punish a town which dared to elect a man who tells the truth while The Dear Leader Chairman Kaczynski lies.

4,000 residents have abandoned the crisis-stricken town

It was reported on last night's evening TV news. Several residents were interviewed expressing their dispelasure at the globe-trotting mayor who is rarely at his desk to receive townsfolk. The SOB was actually in the ex-commie SLD!

You mean on last night's propaganda. If it was on there, it means it was on there as a political attack.

Several residents were interviewed expressing their dispelasure at the globe-trotting mayor who is rarely at his desk to receive townsfolk.

I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult for PiS to transport a couple of people connected to PiS members there to express alleged dislike of him.

Now, perhaps you can tell us about the cancellation of the S6 between the town and the Trójmiasto, and who was responsible for cancelling the road.

PiS to transport a couple of people connected to PiS members

Probably the ones fired from the various paid committees that did nothing, or the ones who had contracts to supply pointless and overpriced products issued by the previous PiS 'mayor', the one that was voted out so resoundly.

Some real scandals there. There was a sort of PiS/SLD clique, some of them with very longstanding connections and 'history'. People were sick of them and are very happy indeed with Mayor Biedroń.

Biedron is popular

More precisely, he is great at self-promotion, but those forced to work under his boot call him a total hypocrite: "His mouth is full o beautiful declarations but he does not treat women employed by the town equally. He pays them the lowest national wage where he should be adding traineeship allowances and seniority pay. Unfortunately he does none of that and only knows how to promise."

Does TVP have an evening news program again? Last I heard the P in that name stood Propaganda.

The SOB was actually in the ex-commie SLD!

Really? You recently claimed(here polishforums.com/news/polonisation-surges-ahead-babking-media-80765/#msg1584173) that Biedron was a member of the PZPR and we are still waiting for you to explain how a man born in 1976, i.e. 14 years before the PZPR voted itself out of existence in 1990, managed to join that party. Do you think he's able to travel in time? Or did he just look old for his age?

the globe-trotting mayor

Does he also use planes owned by the Polish taxpayer as private planes? Or are only PIS's elitny doing that?

who is rarely at his desk to receive townsfolk.

Yet another lie. Biedron has an open door policy, there are no security checks from the street to his office, and he sometimes takes his famous red sofa into the city and invites passersby to sit down and chat to him.

transport a couple of people

Biedroń is a master of the selfie, PR and every other form of self-promotion. On Facebook he is observed by 320,000 indivudals. What the average FB-er doesn't know is that most were posted by Słupsk town hall employees during working hours as part of their professional duties.

Biedroń is a master

He's certainly a hugely popular politician in Slupsk.

Don't be silly.

Now you know why. Like the typical lefty-libertine, he is great at propaganda, self-promotion and social engineering. That's what lefties do!

political attack

From the tone of things, PF should set up a chapter of the Biedroń Defence League or Biedroń Admiration Society. You'd be a natural to get the ball roilling. But count me out!

No need, we're his FB friends anyway.
You only started this thread because you were following the lead of TVP 'news' by trying to distract people from the double epic failure of the PiSlamic State at the EU summit. Sadly for you, while the presenters on TVP can trot out their lies unchallenged, here you immediately get called out when you repeat the same lies.

I actually don't know if majority of Słupsk residents are satisfied by their mayor work. I wouldn't be surprised if there are lots of genuine complains about quality of his work or real issue related to his performance on this managerial position.

After all he is know for binging activists for so called gay community and nothing else. I don't understand how proclivity to get down on another man knob and then yapping about that in public, prepared him sufficiently for the function of a mayor.

Whether or not some ruckus should be raised is up to Słupsk's residents if they stay complicit and quiet and if he is really bad at his job - they have only themselves to blame.

He's actually known for stabilising the city of Słupsk and for appointing competent individuals to top jobs as opposed to those that are friends with him.

By the way, Biedroń got elected through sheer hard work.

proclivity to get down on another man knob

I suspect he has quite a lot of other abilities. Like the ability to be an excellent and hugely popular Mayor of Slupsk.
