Meeting new people in Warsaw

Cześć all!

I just wanted to ask two questions:

1: How do you go about meeting people in Warsaw (especially people who might speak english) without going to pubs/nightclubs etc?

2: Apart from the usual pubs, clubs, meetups, cookery classes and the likes, would you have any suggestions about meeting women? (Preferably not the usual sleazy chatup tactics thanks)

I know its a difficult question, but any info you could give would be much appreciated, Dziękuję! (And no comedians please, even though we all love a good laugh!)

Kind regards,
Traveller -

If you don't like pubs and clubs that is fine but if you also don't want to attend sober meet ups or activities then you are going to struggle - your options will probably be the gym, work, online dating or cold approaching girls on the street or in a coffee shop (by the sounds of it that would be what you call sleazy chat up lines even though it is perfectly normal).

Why not try some kind of meet ups ? Even if you are shy everyone else will be in the same boat

You could try going to a dancing class. I'm not joking. They're always short of men for stuff like Salsa.

That's not who you want to be targeting, Poland in English is not nearly as interesting as Poland in Polish.

I second the dancing classes. Look for people who practice other hobbies you might be interested in. Chances are there are people who are also interested in it in Poland and getting to know them will help your integration and language skills.

Where do you live? Lots of neighborhoods have bulletin boards for community center events.

as interesting as Poland in Polish..

Yeah but the op only speaks English and it WILL take years to pick up Polish like my wife, she is 50 times smarter than I am. Polish is hard, more difficult than Chinese.

I knew people that went from zero to taking medical advice over the phone in 6 months, it's only as hard as you want it to be...

Are you living in Warsaw or just here for holiday?

I'm British and working here for a year ( my parents are polish so I speak some polish) , I'm a guy by the way. I've already met some girls through Tinder as I'm not a fan of clubs and currently have no one to go with, it's not sleezy at all, the girls here are very conservative in their behaviour which I like.

Send me a PM, I'd like to make some friends whilst I'm here, we could meet up sometime!

How do you meet people without going to the places where you normally meet people? Are you retarded?

Traveller, I tend to agree here with Rick Steves, namely, that even if the tourist/vacationer doesn't know a word of the language of the country they're visiting, it's certainly not vital any longer. However, although English has nowadays become a sort of international lingua franca, knowing at least some basic greetings (pronounced as close to correctly as possible), easy numbers, and local culture tips, will take one a long way:-)

Tough to strike up a spontaneous conversation with locals though, I will confess...unless you happen to be Rick Steves!
