Yes, I'm sure you hate the Christmas tree or placing votive candles on the graves of relatives on All Saints' Day - such evil, evil things lol

Not really criticizing here, just saying ;)
And the Christmas tree is a pagan thing anyway ^^
But cemeteries on All Saint's Day in Poland look really breathtaking, that's true.

So what? It's pretty, leave the Christmas tree alone! >:-[

Women in Islam wear Hijab similarly to nuns and how Mary is usually presented in art, covering the hair. It's a form of modesty.

Actually, I just watched a YouTube video talking about modesty and the guy mentioned that some consider it as a form of human evolution. It's here

youtube.com/watch?v=E4HGfagANiQ

I really like how he presented it.

I like Christmas festivals and carols and such. Although as a Muslim I'm not allowed to celebrate events that have nonislamic religious ties, we are still allowed and encourage to keep good social terms with others. Basically, you can invite us to your religious events but we aren't allowed to put a Christmas tree and start Christmas related stuff.

@Polson:
I'm sure that people now know all the historical facts related to Christmas, but that doesn't really stop them from enjoying it. From what I see, it seems like an important FAMILY event than it is religious since even non christian celebrate it nowadays. People grew up with the happy memories of getting the gifts and the whole family getting together and having fun.

Alright, maybe just a tiny bit, but that was more aimed at Grzeg than anything else ;)

I know, don't get mad, I really like Christmas too ;)

Of course, it's one of the parts of the year I prefer. I like the atmosphere, it's a lot more than just gifts ;)

I can wear anything i want as a woman. In South America i don't remember where sorry about that , women can walk the street without their bra, that is called freedom.

But we are not talking about personal, religious or social views, about what define freedom of clothing and such. We are discussing modesty in wear that fits a Muslim girl in a non Muslim society such as Poland while balancing the European culture with the Islamic standards. I'm sure you can find more countries other than South Africa in which you can walk around without a bra, but that doesn't really add much to the topic of our conversation. I appreciate your effort to bring variety of thoughts in this thread though ^_^

in Warsaw it's normal to see girls with Hijab , loose trousers and long shirt .
here in Lodz it's somehting strange that gets lots of attention .

from an islamic point of view I guess she can drop Hijab ( but still covers the body as it's normal in here)

Actually no, women can't drop hijab from an islamic point of view. It's a choice, whether they choose to follow or not.
But let's not dwell much into religious reasoning as this is not the thread for it. If you want we can make a new thread for you Poziomka and discuss Islam and choices in clothing?

@ the OP, the best way to fit in with a foreign society is to honour its traditions and customs. Polish women are not expected to over their faces and hair. They are not second-class citizens and nor are men treated as animals who cannot control themselves if they see a woman's face or hair. So one option might be for your fiancée to wear a normal fitted top and a skirt or jeans.

If, however, she chooses to maintain her Muslim dress code in a European Christian country, so be it. But it would be wise to reflect on the fact that a Polish woman who travels to, say, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan or Afghanistan cannot dress as she would at home, as Islam is not yet at the point in its evolution at which it tolerates contradictory views or behaviour.

With all due respect to you sir, I find it rather offensive to say that we consider women as second class citizens.
Modesty is a behavior known to mankind since the dawn of history most religious believes agree on modesty from both genders and add slightly more for women, not because they are less human but because they are more valuable and more important than men. By saying that we Muslims consider our women second class by the fact that they wear Hijab, what does that infer to religious women of other faiths such as some Jews and Christian nuns?

I'm here to balance my respect to your culture with my personal family values, not to debate whom is more civilized and human rights. If that was the case we should open a new thread but not in here.

If you have any ideas that helps a Muslim girl practice her religious believes in regards to clothing while maintaining respect to the polish culture and fitting in the best way possible, I would truly appreciate it. We will not discuss anything else.

Abui3issa - I haven't got much to say about what you like her wearing, but were I live (South Africa) there are plenty of modern muslim girls.

They quite often wear tight fitting dresses or tops with pair of fitting jeans or leggings in summer.
Overall they look quite smart and if I was a male I would even say sexy... but not too revealing.
Even a pair of skinnies with a slightly longer top are ok here. They do often wear hijab, although I saw many muslim girls not wearing one (how do I know they are Muslims? Because I work with them...)

But again - I found Muslim women in SA to be a lot more outward thinking and progressive than in other parts of the world...

If you love your fiancee you should accept HER style and hope that she learns to accept your feelings and perhaps adapts her style - rather than expecting het to fit into a "matrix" that you created for her.

By the way - skinny jeans - unless they are too skinny are not really considered too revealing anywhere - even a modest girl would wear them in Poland.

in Poland and most western communities, there are people from all kind of religious backgrounds.

BS. Poland have 98% of Christian Population. As much homogeneous as Saudi Arabia. So you have no rights to use your double standards.

Exactly what i think! Who gives the right to a MAN decides and ENFORCE the way that her girl should dress in a free society like Poland?

SHE Should decide that!!!! Not him!!!

And the most scary thing is that this guy said, in another thread, that his girlfriend is polish.

I am wondering why you chose to highlight just that particular part of the OP's post, as the post itself was not meant in an offensive way.

For others reading, here is the post:

I want to visit Poland, a country with very very few Muslims, and be able to walk around with my family.

Where in the thread did the OP mention anything about what his girlfriend should be wearing?
You have resurrected 2 threads which have lain dormant for 2 years. I'm wondering why that is, especially considering that you haven't bothered to read either one of them properly and just cherry picked the sections guaranteed to provoke a reaction.

Yes they do, especially in winter.

Pity. The few times I've seen Polish women without trousers or tights on I've thought they were blessed with really nice legs. It'd be great if they'd keep them bare :-)
