Poles are not racist

i think that racism is deeply interwoven into the polish culture, especially with the older generations. it's bred out of ignorance and when you grow up never seeing anyone different than yourself then it's easy to hate people that are different. in the ten years i lived in poland i came across only two black people the whole time i was there! nevermind anyone that wasn't catholic! thankfully things are changing with the younger generations. with more exposure comes more understanding and tolerance resulting in less racism (hopefully).

that's why it seems like a shock to the system when people come to the u.s. from mostly 'white' countries. for me it was a saving grace...

there were a significant number of black or Africans who sold their own people. These Africans made a pretty penny selling their own people. Granted, it was a horrible thing, however, 'whites can not be soley to blame for this.

can you provide some sources please

on the other hand they are here ILLEGALLY.

hmmm, your borders are not sealed for a reason - cheap labour

Yes, my great grandparents were immigrants, but they were LEGAL and they assimilated.

they had to, it was a matter of survival for them

(Mexico/America/Canada).

it is a cheap labour supply an it is not going to change in teh future

Yet that doesn't justify the slavery, regardless who was benefiting from it, correct?

You asked for a source. Neither the source, nor the post pointing to it make and attempt to justify slavery.

SLAVERY. IF YOU GO BACK TO THE TIMES WHEN SLAVERY WAS RIFE, MY ENGLISH WORKING CLASS FAMILY WERE NO BETTER OFF THAN MOST SLAVES.
They had no choice of what work to do, they could be whipped, thrown out of their mean dwellings, transported to the 'New World' in horrific prison hulks for very minor crimes, often necessary to feed themselves, they were owned by the lords of local manors, often worked 16, yes, 16 continuous hours a day in the local mill for a subsistance wage, started working as 8 year old children full time, some starved or froze to death whilst working etc etc etc.

THESE WERE THE TIMES IN WHICH SLAVERY WAS CONDUCTED.
NO APOLOGIES, NOT FROM ENGLISH ME.
GET OVER IT.
ALL WE CAN DO IS LEARN FROM PAST MISTAKES. SAYING SORRY IS MEANINGLESS, TO BLACK, WHITE, GREEN OR PURPLE!!!!!!!
Chest clear.

I always remember a sign that was on Longham Bridge across the River Stour in Bournemouth where I used to go fishing as a kid. It stated that anyone damaging the bridge in anyway or harassing the local sheep would be deported to Australia.

I hope that is not the case anymore.

No these days we would have to pay and go through an immigration interview to get there! I'm not sure whether the sign is still there though. I haven't been back there for 25 years or so.

Miranda, if you think they make us do anything in school, You do not know the British system. I personally, spent as little time in school as possible!

NO, These are my deductions after extensively delving into my own family tree, my great British heritage.
What did 'they' make you memorise?

No, I don't indeed. The Brits of PF are pretty sharp, so it is either the school or the diet.

Generally Poles are not racists yet there's quite a few that are (just like in any other nation/race) and have a good reason to be. They have been betrayed by their fellow europeans over and over again (Remember WWII?). There was a great number of Poles who fought for Britain when your cities were burning from nazi airstrike raids. Where were the Chinese or the Pakistani then? Do you easily forget such events? Maybe you should give credit where credit is due instead of insulting people for silly, stupid reasons. You complain about immigration and racism but remember, you were the ones migrating all over the world conquering other races. How many Native Americans have the British infected with small pox, enslaved and slaughtered because of their race? You Brits and your groupies should be damn ashamed to come on this forum and sput all the crap and insults about people who have done nothing wrong. You are the inferior and just plain pathetic.

I'm British living in a small village in Poland. A lot of the people here are hostile and suspicious towards me, I don't know if this makes them racist. I like to go out walking and obviously see other people, at first I used to smile, and although they would openly stare at me they didn't return a smile to me, so now I don't bother. I was told that Polish people were very friendly helpful people........don't think so.

I've just read all 10 pages on this topic in one go! My head hurts an I feel like crying! Now only Tyskie can save the day. Why does this constantly come up as a topic and ends up as one big slanging match with the Polish contributors usually coming off worst? The worrying thing is how perceptions of Poles is changing in the UK. It's pretty obvious what kind of people are the root cause of this change in attitude. The most vocal, badly behaved, dumb@sses are always noticed the most and cause the most disharmony in society, that's the same everywhere, like one or two of the contributors to this discussion. It really is upsetting that a minority can stir up so much resentment.

A little love wouldn't go amiss (yep, naive I know!). I'll just go back to that Tyskie now.

Yep. Racism against Poles is our fault and the reason is... racism of Poles... now that's "logic". You better care about the image of your kind.

Internet drinking, Perhaps we should be drinking Cyber? Ha-ha

I do care about the image of "my kind"
Interesting turn of phrase, "YOUR KIND", not sure if it's supposed to offend or not and to think I was still reeling from Murzynka being referred to as a creature!

And by the way 'Murzynka' is a pretty derogatory word in itself, who told you to use that as your name on here?
