I really enjoyed "Albóm" as a kid :), just like the rest of my primary school. :)

I just couldn't resist the lyrics. "Hej ty, k**wa ty, k**wa, k**wa, k**wa mać; Posłuchaj ch**u jeden, co spiewa nasza brać!" Pure poetry! :) Surprisingly, I don't listen to him much these days. Ok, maybe with the exception of the song "Scyzoryk". :)

Do you guys get into O.S.T.R at all? I recently managed to get a hold of one of his albums, the most recent i think (7). This is without a doubt one of the best hiphop albums i have heard in ages. Right up there with roots manuva and atmosphere. Great beats, awesome rhymes.

If youve never seen the man in action, check this link out....it's O.S.T.R freestyling at hiphopkemp this year. seriously, check it out!!!!

Hello! I am just a guest here, so I apologize for the intrusion... The reason why I write is that I've been reading this thread with great interest and I wanted to thank you for the information on polish music. The second reason is that I read that I'm not the only person who finds it difficult to find polish music, so I was wondering if there was anyone who had the song "Ewa - Perfect". I heard it sung a few days ago and I just can't get it off my head...

My email is "serepink@gmail", if anyone has msn and is so kind to be willing to send it to me... I am italian, so if anyone wants I can trade it with some italian songs ... If you have any other nice polish (especially 'soft') music I would love to be able to listen to them, so anyone is very, very welcome to write me or send me anything...

Once again, sorry for the intrusion and thanks in any case in advance! I love this forum and I'll keep reading discussions and maybe register very very soon! :)

When polish hip hop you must hear "peja" good songs are ,"szacunek ludzi ulicy" ,"kurewskie zycie" and "reprezentuje biede" !

but the best polish music is Oi / Rac , music from Honor , konkwista , wolne miasto gdansk !!! Polish rock is great!

but there exicts good old polish pop bands like kombi or lady pank!

polish music is good for emigrants , because you can feel in your heart from where you are!

music in poland

I wonder, what type of music Polish people like? do they listen to polish music at all? I find the ones near me listen to American music more. What is the most popular genre now in Poland?

i hear that polish people dont listen to much music but prefer to tap their feet... this is a popular form of entertainment in eastern europe

I was wondering mostly because polish people around me listen more to american music. I listen to polish music all the time, mostly ballads. I've found it to be a great way of learning and practicing the language especially, since you can find most of the lyrics and ballads are slow. However, the ones i got are old songs. Any new ones that anyone can recommend?

Oh, another thing.... What is Disco Polo? is it new? old?

Oh, another thing.... What is Disco Polo? is it new? old?

I had never heard of it either.....but from what I understand, many clubs have a night where they play old disco hits from the seventies....and it is popular with the younger kids who (of course missed it the first go around). But somehow I doubt they "dress" in seventies kitsch....could be hard these days to find silver metallic tops, clear acrylic stacked heels and sheer lip gloss.......and a Farrah Fawcett hairdo :)

Are you sure text of Hej Sokoly exists in Ukranian language? I have never met it as well as my friends of Ukranian origin. What do you know about the history of this song?

Polish Popular Music

Well since sb wanted more threads about music and I do so too, here is my two bits:

Would you say that Polish popmusic is more Western (Anglo-American) oriented or more Central/Oriental (Russia, Central and East Europe)? I mean the music that is popular amongst ppl of up to 40, like Rap, Rock, Girlbands etc? Discuss and give examples :)

Also, could you give examples of Polish popmusic from the Sixties? I'm making a little collection of my own of popmusic from the different European countries in the 60's :)

Ballads, Rocksongs, Beatles-lookalikes and so on...

Thanks!

I'll start with the inevitable CHOPIN, of course. French-Polish like me. I wish I had his hands tho (and a piano...) ;)

And who could have said that someday I would listen to (and enjoy) some Polish rock performed by a Black Polish dude, huh?
Damian Ukeje (or just UKEJE), won the musical show 'The Voice of Poland'. He's from Szczecin, and was born to a Polish mum and a Nigerian dad. He really has an interesting and powerful voice (to me). Here's his very first single, released a few weeks ago.

And last but not least, one of my all-time fav Polish bands, RIVERSIDE, from Warsaw. (Progressive rock).
Most of their songs are in English. Many of their songs are quite 'atmospheric', which I really like. Reminds of Pink Floyd.
If you like it, you may also enjoy the solo projects of the band's leader (and singer), Mariusz Duda. Like Lunatic Soul.
Here's one of my fav songs.

There's also Patricia Kazadi (not rock though and not my kind of music tbh, but it looks like she has a nice voice):

Btw, isn't Matt Pokora French with some Polish roots?

He really has an interesting and powerful voice (to me).

I like his voice too :)
