God, how sad it is to hear that....I really, really like British literature, culture, music, architecture.

Just because the post is written in good English it does not mean they are English or British.
You need to read the whole post first before replying.

Just because you're coming to visit from America,

Well, I want to add something to:

1) Social pressure to have children. The magic question; " When are you going to have children?' is a must during every familly reunion. All the uncles, aunts, cousins, grandmas, ect and really distant relatives nag you all the time. It doesn't matter I don't want them, my husband doesn't want them , and my pug- he( don't call him IT) especially doesnt want them:))) -I'm asked again and again anyway .

2) See dtaylor5632's post on fighting for the place in trams- I woeld call them babcie instead of babki- Babka- is a good looking, even hot woman, usually not very young in her 40s of 50s, but good looking.:)

3 What I really hate is intolerance. Polish poeple- especially blue collar workers( but not only and not all of them) do not like Jews, sometimes black people,( African- American if you like) and homosexuals( especially men). What really makes me mad is the fact that there are some neo-nazis in Poland!

Babka

Hehe, I know its not the proper use, but its just stuck with me and ended up being my nickname for them..... just like the babka hats they wear :P

What really makes me mad is the fact that there are some neo-nazis in Poland!

I had a lesson once arguing with a class who were determined to tell me that black people couldn't be as educated as White people. Oh god.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic, but if not im a little disturbed.
Have you ever been in some of the flats or walked around Kazimierz after hours? The flats are full of nazi wannabee's.

I don't believe you can really grow from neo nazi attitude. If your parents teach you that you should hate people becaouse of their nationality or race it will be really difficult to change that kind of thinking. Some people do, but not all of them. Some of them later become teachers, policemen, politician but they still remain full of hatred. I don't say that there is a lot of them, no. They are a small group but I still hate them to death:P

what if you do not have parents,or they are drunk all they long?!!!who can teach you?
we do not support nazism in Poland its crime.scott trying made some immpresion that Poland is neo nazi problem, sorry in UK there is 7% support for griffins nazi party_this is problem not kids

Well, I don't say there are more neo nazis in Poland than in other countries. I just cannot understand that some Poles ( even if they are young) may be neo nazi after what nazis did to Polish people during WWII.

maybe they do not undarstand, there were lots of skinheads in UK some time ago, kinda culture, nazi killed lots of brits as well.it just the form of young people to express their frustration throu violence,if their life is not good.most grow up from this

i never heard that they attack asians in Poland, they mostly drink in park and listning trash music
problem is in UK grow up people with every opportunity they have and good life, support nazis party and bring their rasizm into action.
i have been living 10 years in UK and tell you that lots of british people hate us

Its sad that they forget their past so quick, Very strange that they don,t clamp down on them.

In my world they would be fcuk off to the Gulag

it has not much to do with supporting nazis, rather it is social problem.
young people with ruined life whithout future, always tent to glorify violence as a way to ease frustration.look into black culture in west europe, they are so much into glorify violence in gangs, music ect.becouse they have less opportunities and are socially exclouded.

I do not consider my country (despite the fact that we suffered enormous
losses in the course of history) to be in any way inferior to Great Britain
if that's what you were subtly suggesting, my friend.

A true English gentleman would never say they are superior, that would be downright rude and stating the obvious. One should never be rude nor state the obvious since both of these are a waste of The Bard's tongue.

With regards to neo-nazi's they do exist here especially amongst the football casuals in Poland. I think their Neo-Nazism is a backlash against the previous communist regimes and because Nazi's think they can be proud of their race and philosophy. Again Nazism and communism are both ills of the peasant classes and given Torq's eloquent comments 98% of Poles are the decendants of peasants ergo the oxymoron Polish neo-nazi.

Torq, you missed one.

Erm... I missed one... neo-nazi? Or one peasant perhaps?

Sorry, Ksysia, but it's late and I've had too many heated beers (my favourite
way of curing a cold). So, what did I miss?

You will find people who generally hate most things everywhere. They are usually rebellious teenagers.

I could never really hate Poland. I numb myself to the negative effects. But

1) No, sorry, I'm positive. We must see that the glass if half full and not half empty. My empty 0.5cl bottle of Ballantines leads me to that conclusion. We are guests here and, as guys, should appreciate what we have. Many Poles are hospitable and are happy to share what they have. I really see in them the potential that I saw in many Scots back home. The kind of folk that would really reach out to you to share in their humanity. God Bless them!!

The spirit of Great Poland survives and one day we will turn this peasant society
into a glorious nation once again. It will take time, a lot of time, and it will surely
take a whole lot of effort but we'll get there one day...

And this time I know it's for real
The feelings that I feel
I know if I put my mind to it
I know that I really can do it

But it's gonna take money
A whole lotta spending money
Its gonna take plenty of money
To do it right child

Its gonna take time
A whole lot of precious time
Its gonna take patience and time, ummm
To do it, to do it, to do it, to do it, to do it,
To do it right

I think this thread is more about letting off steam than anything else. I've listed three things that annoy me about Poland - but ask me to list things that annoy me about the UK and it would be a lot longer than just three items ... And arseholes who stare at you or push in front of you in the queue are not just confined to Poland :-)

For many, it's just emotional dumping. Poland is as Poland is and we need to get on with it. Positive thoughts are much preferred.

I hate it when the supermarket security guard nabs you for wearing a ruck sack but then lets ladies wearing huge handbags just cruise straight by.

I've got stuff I hate, too.

I hate it when the people who signed up for the soviet mental culture, and became enemies, try to act as all things were normal (like the proverbial janitors and post office hags). I don't recognize them as my kin. They should admit to belonging to the dark side. But they are trying to pass for common people. ( I would say normal people, but you are western and would think it's something to do with gayness). (On the other hand you are western and may take it for suggesting class). (Lets say ordinary people I guess)

I hate that we don't have a Government, just a Mafia. The Tusku clone being it's face.

I hate people stepping on my toes - I've always had, and judging by the experience of the Brits, it's possible not to do it. I think this needs a media campaign, just like eating meringue with a spoon, advertised by the sorely missed Shazza (Jolanta Kwaƛniewska)

Hmm.... tough one.

1. Anti-semitism. The level of ignorance and predjudice in Poland is horrifying.

2. All the old soviet-era buildings, gray, decaying and ugly, it sometimes feels like Im in a post-apocalyptic film.

3. Flaki, 'nuff said.
Seanus 15 | 19,672
4 Dec 2009 #690
Funny, I really don't see much anti-Semitism here.

Yeah, some of the buildings are in dire need of repair.

Tripe is not that bad.
