Why is Prostitution still legal in Poland?

Ok was just doing research. As the know all of everything Wiki has a good overview of the laws and history of the subject in Poland.

US State Dept has Poland as Tier 1 in anti - trafficking efforts (ie better than tier 2 like Romania). So not bad but could be better. Prostitution as I have seen it in Poland has many faces from the college student in need of funds to the trafficked to the just plane economic need to eat. I have seen no clear numbers on those forced into the business in Poland as of yet or where they come from outside of Poland. Any answers?

It is legal is private person to person as far as I can tell. But not on the level of a Prague. But wherever there is something in the open and do know there must be some girls (or boys) locked behind closed doors waiting for a client....

Who gives a F** what the USA think about morals (what other reason is there to object to a business transaction?), being as morally corrupt, sick society it has no right to export its filthy mindset and no hope of doing so. I wouldn't take Iran's view on what is right or wrong either as its the most comparable country to the USA from religious viewpoint.

Prostitution takes many forms. When men pay for a date (dinner, drinks, entertainment) then the female recipient prostitutes herself by accepting such 'gifts'. With all the emphasis on "equality", women still don't want to give up this female perk of being recipients of date freebies.

Some of the more strict Muslim countries have laws against prostitution, so the US 'sounds like a Muslim extremist', although its a fundamental extremist Christian country - which is worse.

True. Why do Americans feel the need to interfere with other countries so much? Surely they need to get their own house in order first.

What's with the 2nd amendment? It's not the 18th century anymore... how many 'Columbine's' occur in Poland? Gun crime is totally out of control and has been for a very long time.

As for the 8th amendment it's a complete joke when you consider the death penalty is used in many states...

Question is legal prostitution in Poland. Seams that Poland is not fully on either side. It has its more liberal sex law like many in Europe but is also a deeply Catholic country. I would assume most Polish girls working in the business do not tell family as is shameful work to admit too.

Question is of bigger picture does legal prostitution contribute to trafficking in Poland?

Personally I am not opposed to a person 18 or older freely working in the business of their own free will.

What about the others who don't have a choice? I don't think is only Polish women working in Poland - where are they from?

I think you might find that Rambo Rutowski screwed this case up for the Police by his selfish self publication of evidence. I watched this unfurl from the UK. That mans a liability. Send him to Norway, I believe they are waiting to lock him up.


I meant to quote another bit. The girls lining the roads in and out of Poland rarely look Polish. I think with a bit more research you will find a number of these are "trafficked" but as prostitution is legal, nobody cares. The "nightclub" is a funny term for English people.

Yes my research and that of many many others confirms what you see.... Poland is a transit place and so are many other EU countries.... surprisingly one of the richest Switzerland is a prime destination country... girls from as far away as Brazil and close as France.

A friend once last year tried to show me the traditional place the girls would hang out near the big hotels in centrum but did not see anyone. Maybe things are looking up in some areas.

i'm not exactly sure of the legal situation in the UK, but sometime ago i read an excellent editorial in the Times by Jenni Russel about Sex & Disability, that explained how people who're very disabled/ill can really benefit from a visit to a well organised clean brothel or from a sex worker if they're housebound. theres even a website called TLC devoted to matching up the disabled with Responsible sex workers, i think you'd have to be a pretty unfeeling person to argue that this is harmful and should be banned.

obviously the trafficking aspect is hideous and must be stamped out but. as far as prostitution itself. there should be a blind eye turned to repsonsible/clean places, otherwise we penalize the most isolated and lonely in society

Tim I actually wated a video on that story... actually what shocked me was that visit to a sex worker was consider a right and I believe was paid for by the State.
