ispolandworthit 25 Jun 2021 #1I am an immigrant from a poor Asian country that moved to Poland in 2015 for studies. I have lived here ever since. I was fairly young and was oblivious to so many worse sides of Poland that I see these days.. ranging from small nuisances like ugly towns and villages, billboards everywhere, littering to some of the more serious ones Iike the church's involvement in the government and the crazier and crazier things that PIS are proposing. My husband is Polish, we're young and make a lot of money (40k+ pln netto/month) in IT so my life is very comfortable. But I can't help but wonder if I wouldn't be happier in a Western country (having lived in one before), where they have more stable democracies, better infrastructures and friendlier society? Especially I am now at the age where I am thinking of starting a family..does anyone feel the same way?

Atch 20 | 3,886 25 Jun 2021 #5Software devWith a bit of trolling on the side :)'Young' software devs don't earn that kind of money in Poland and certainly not 'young' ones.
pawian 213 | 22,284 25 Jun 2021 #6'Young' software devs don't earn that kind of money in PolandYes.But, "she" meant the combined earnings of herself, her husband and all kin and neighbours who belong to their circle. Probably also the earnings of their future kids. I hope you can forgive "her" that understatement.
OP ispolandworthit 25 Jun 2021 #8Why would I troll, lol! This kind of rate on a B2B contract is not rare in software development for someone with 5+ years of experience. We're in late twenties, I consider that still young.

Alien 27 Jun 2021 #10I am an immigrant from a poor Asian countrySorry but I am not sure you would be happier in a western country. You have enough money in Poland and this "friendlier society" in western countries is not friendlier for you sweety.
OP ispolandworthit 28 Jun 2021 #11Maybe you're right @Alien, I speak the language fluently and I've integrated here fully. Would be tough to start from level zero in a new country..I'll see until the next elections before making up my mind.
pawian 213 | 22,284 28 Jun 2021 #12I've integrated here fullyReally? I thought you have had a problem with integration, your own words prove that:so many worse sides of Poland that I see these days. Can you explain that illogicality in your statements?
