Polish Music.

This is my last post on this thread tonight, again I am curious to hear what you think of it.

Younger Poles with whom I'm in contact swear by Brit pop, especially Joss Stone.
Maybe a slightly older aka middle age crowd might prefer the latter, as well, not sure.

What age are these younger Poles?

I think most people growing up in the 90's know this song and many have memories connected to it...So poetic, emotional...

I think this is a pretty damn good cover by a Polish band and It's recorded live.
Just shows how good Polish musicians and singers are if they can do this......

Agreed completely, a lovely song.

Late 90's had different TV. Intended of Got Talent etc we had... Szansa na sukces. Much more chilled and more aimed at bringing fun than fame.
From time to time, however, someone special appeared. One of those was Georginia:

I used to watch that. I always wondered at how the songs were chosen... where were those boxes whose strings he pulled?

I noticed that some artists chose really good singers as the winners and some.... didn't.

But I liked the old 'gonna be on tv and have fun' attitude than the modern 'i gotta be famous! hear me? i wanna be FFFAAAMMMMOOUSSS!!!!' Modern attenion vvhoring is out of control.

I don't like kids singing, but it was clear that she had a great voice.Once she grew up and formed Blauka it was clear that she had a great voice.But although some of their music was quite nice, it was not to my personal taste.

These guys have been around since 1979 and played in North London last night;



And this is another good Polish Rock band;

Zly Psy are/were a great band and here are two songs from them;

Robert Gawlinski is best known for his work with the band Wilki, but some of his solo stuff is pretty good too.

I think Urszula is pretty damned good too;

Bizarre! Recognised the song but couldn't place it for about a minute. Was wondering what sort of image they're trying to cultivate by going bare-chested though.....

You may be surprised! However many Norwegians consider Polka to be Polish, despite it being Czech! Cause of it's name...

Polka is a folk dance, polonaise is a dance of high society. 🤷‍♂️

Probably one of Poland's finest Rock bands right now.....Riverside.....



One more from Riverside because I think they deserve it.

They sound good. I like the guitarist.

Maybe not as heavy as Riverside and certainly a lot more Goth, nevertheless I really like this Polish band.

Polish musicians are great at refining and blending different musical styles and genres, but they rarely create something entirely new or original that would go mainstream.
