I think this is a pretty damn good cover by a Polish band and It's recorded live.
Just shows how good Polish musicians and singers are if they can do this......

Late 90's had different TV. Intended of Got Talent etc we had... Szansa na sukces. Much more chilled and more aimed at bringing fun than fame.

I used to watch that. I always wondered at how the songs were chosen... where were those boxes whose strings he pulled?

I noticed that some artists chose really good singers as the winners and some.... didn't.

But I liked the old 'gonna be on tv and have fun' attitude than the modern 'i gotta be famous! hear me? i wanna be FFFAAAMMMMOOUSSS!!!!' Modern attenion vvhoring is out of control.

I don't like kids singing, but it was clear that she had a great voice.Once she grew up and formed Blauka it was clear that she had a great voice.But although some of their music was quite nice, it was not to my personal taste.

These guys have been around since 1979 and played in North London last night;

Zly Psy are/were a great band and here are two songs from them;





Robert Gawlinski is best known for his work with the band Wilki, but some of his solo stuff is pretty good too.

Haven't heard it before but I liked it.


Bizarre! Recognised the song but couldn't place it for about a minute. Was wondering what sort of image they're trying to cultivate by going bare-chested though.....

Polish musicians are great at refining and blending different musical styles and genres, but they rarely create something entirely new or original that would go mainstream.

There is some truth in what you say.They don't seem to be able to create an original sound like American and British bands can.
But that accusation can be thrown at most of the countries in the world!

Unfortunately, Polish pop music doesn't have a place in the world. I've lived in Germany for 36 years, and I haven't heard a single Polish-language song on the radio here in all that time. 🤷‍♂️

He's not saying it doesn't. Look back at his post. I think he means that Polish music generally doesn't receive much airplay in other countries.

How many bands/singers do you know of that don't sing in English that are popular outside of their own countries? A few but probably not that many.

The only successful band I can personally think of that doesn't sing in English, is Rammstein.

It's not the language barrier that has stopped it from taking off abroad. It's because it makes most people with ears wish they were deaf the moment they hear it.

Please let's not ignore the gigantic elephant in the room - disco polo - when we talk about 'Polish music'. We all know this utter abomination is massively popular and basically defines 'Polish popular music'.
