Time for some Polish Rock.

I'll end my Polish Music posts with this one, from an absolute genius.....if only he had sung in English.....

if only he had sung in English....

Why? His music woulnd't be any better in English and given the quality of translations from Polish to make 'English' singing versions....would probably be significantly worse.

absolute genius.....

I think that the absolute genius of Polish blues and rock was Richard Riedel from Dżem.

Isn't it obvious?.... he would have had a much larger audience.

I think that the absolute genius of Polish blues and rock was Richard Riedel from Dzem..

if only he had sung in English...

And the songs would be lost in translation.

I love his music as it is. In Polish.

he would have had a much larger audience.

Not necessarily.

I doubt it... bad lyrics sung with a foreign accent.... I guess it worked for Abba, but I don't think it would have worked for him.

Polish musicians make better music in Polish.

@Feniks
@mafketis

I just think that it's a shame that these great artists can't get a wider audience because they only sing in Polish.Having said that,I do love that they sing in Polish....what a hypocrite I am!!

Also, I am aware that many of you on this forum are not Rock fans so I'll try to post some different Polish Music too.

I'll end my posts tonight with this one... I hope I have found at least one song to your taste.

This is very good......

Yeah, Turbo were a pretty decent band and I think they are still going.

Rock is what you do when you have no talent to do real music.

Music - a series of notes that are pleasant to listen, easy to retain, and can be sold as a digital file. The mob goes to rock concerts to scream and get high.

This is music: You need to be dead to keep your eyes dry.

Polish Rock

Do you like Lady Pank?

Some people really do and some really don't. This one of theirs (well enough known) is a nice one.

Relatively easy lyrics for people with B1 or B2 Polish and a good chorus.

Rock is what you do when you have no talent to do real music.

What a complete wombat you are!

Do you like Lady Pank?

They are popular amongst many Poles I know but I was always put off by the stupid name of the band and have not really followed them.
But I like the song you posted.

There is some GREAT Polish Music out there if you look for it.

I like this song and the video too.

This is good too.....

My last post tonight, the little boy in this video looks a bit like one of my grandsons and I love the tune!

Does anyone know anything about a Polish song translated into English as "The Soldier's Lot"?

Is it this?

No,I will try to find it and post it on here.

In the meantime this is a song that will undoubtedly upset some people on here and although Poland does not have a big problem with Islam, the rest of Europe does.

Another video to upset some of you on here.... this is a proper Polish patriot!

One to change the mood completely to end with....

Maybe you're thinking of "Ach vojna, vojna" which has been translated as "the soldier's lot" but it's Czech...

There's also a russian song called "a soldier's lot" in English

lyricstranslate.com/en/%D0%B4%D0%BE%D0%BB%D1%8F-%D1%81%D0%BE%D0%BB%D0%B4%D0%B0%D1%82%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B0%D1%8F-soldiers-lot.html

No,I will try to find

There's a good song called something like "The Ballad of the Soldier's Wife". By Weill and Brecht. Could it be a Polish version of that?

What was sent to the soldier's wife
From the ancient city of Prague ?
From Prague came a pair of high heeled shoes,
With a kiss or two came the high heeled shoes
From the ancient city of Prague.

That is very close, but it's not the same song.

There's a good song called something like "The Ballad of the Soldier's Wife". By Weill..

I don't know.

As I said, I will try to find the original and post it here.

All very interesting but I can't find the song that I'm thinking of.

So back to the Polish music, most of you, like me are not huge fans of Rap, but we have to accept that it is now a huge musical form in Poland.

Here we go......

Believe it or not, Magnificent Muttley are a Polish band!

What I love most about Polish Popular Music is that it's so totally different from "Western Music", sometimes a bit weird, sometimes a bit depressing.... but Different!

Polish Music never ceases to surprise me...... I'l end with this excellant video!

I have just two posts for you tonight, firstly this Electric Blues tune from Krzak.

My second and last post tonight is from a Polish Prog Rock band who are unusual as they have two drummers.... it adds to their power. Both the bands I have posted tonight sing in English, it's a sad fact but if Polish bands want success outside of Poland, they need to sing at least some of their songs in English.
I think this song is superb.

How many people outside Poland have heard of Satellite and Krzak? They are Polish bands singing in English. It doesn't work that way.

There are successful bands/artists that sing in their native language and are popular outside of their countries, but they are the exception rather than the rule. Rammstein and Bad Bunny, for example. I like the music of both but for what it is. Their music doesn't need translating into English for me to enjoy it.

I like lots of Polish music and I like it just as it is, sung in Polish. I don't know why you keep banging on about this.

As identifiably "English" as, for example ABBA?

OP Miloslaw  24 | 5806

I don't know why you keep banging on about this.

Because it it is the only way good Polish bands will have any success outside of Poland.

Here is another good Polish band that sing in English.

I don't have a problem with bands singing in Polish for my own personal pleasure but if they want true success, they need to sing in English.
