Polish Rock is really good and I love it as it is,but as I have said many times before,they could go global if they sang in English!



I will end with this oldie that shows that Polish Rock bands have been good for decades.....

If you mean Dżem, then only with Ryszard Riedel. He was the only one who could sing rock in Polish.

Agreed, but to mention Czech or Bulgarian music in the same thread as Polish music is insulting to Polish music, which is far superior.

Czech classical music is (imho) leagues ahead of Polish classical...





And Bulgarian folk music is among the most interesting in Europe (or the world?)





Neither is as good as Poland in popular music but they have very strong and beautiful traditions.

Agree about the Czech classical music. Poland's great classical music era ended with Chopin.

You mean "Halka"? Moniuszko is a fine composer, but not on the level of the Czechs.

One problem was that in the 19th century fine arts were tied a bit more to nations and Poland didn't have a country...

Too often Poland lives in the past. Music stars from the 70-90 still dominate popular TV and radio stations. How many times can you listen the same song? When I'm in Poland, I cannot listen to the radio anymore as they've been playing the same music for the last 40 years.

How many times can you look at the same sunset, ooh-and aah- over the same landscape, enjoy the same movie etc..?
A classic, like any piece of nature, is forever and knows no time limits.

Yesterday I met the boys from "Oddział Zamknięty" in the parking lot in front of the hotel. This is a music group from my youth, does anyone still remember them? Unfortunately, I don't know any of their new songs. 🎸

I'd actually never heard of them so thought I would give them a listen. Imagine my surprise when the first song of theirs I heard is a definite rip-off of Tom Robinson's 2-4-6-8 Motorway! Couldn't quite believe it...

Don't EVER underestimate Polish bands and singers...... they are better than most European countries and can even match the Anglo Americans....the only thing holding them back is that most of them sing in Polish.



My last post tonight is from a Polish singer with a great voice that is brave enough to sing in English....
