Moving to Wroclaw - is 10000 ZL a good salary for a family of 3 (Husband, Wife & Infant)?

Hi,

I am from India and will be moving really soon to Wroclaw. I have been offered around 10000 zl per month.

1) Is this good enough for a family of 3 (Husband, Wife & Infant) to live comfortably & save decently?
2) In terms of costs - I am planning to manage my stay and travel around EU (once a month) to be around 5000 ZL, is this possible?

3) Where do Indians stay is Wroclaw? are there any good options for community living?

Hi! Considering that you'll make some 3 times more than average Polish families, you'll manage without problems. But as to traveling around Europe (for pleasure), you won't be able to do it as much as you wish. (10,000 (I suppose GROSS) is less than 2,500 euros, which is no fortune in western Europe). Don't expect significant savings unless tightening your belts! ;)

Hi Vicki82,

1) It is good enough for very average lifestyle if you have your own house, otherwise you will need to pay quite a lot in terms of rent, I must add that baby does cost quite a lot, we have 16 months old daughter and we are spending something around 1000-1500PLN just for her, food for me and wife is around 2000PLN per month without going out, insurance for two cars + petrol + maintenance it work out as 1000PLN per month, so all will depends of your needs really. Of course everyone is different and have different outlook on life...

Also I would be a bit worry about saving matter, 10000PLN and you have 3 people with you so it might be a challenge.

2) You will be fine to manage your stay, but spending 5000PLN on travel around EU won't be possible, suddenly your life budget just got chopped in half, you would be able to manage maybe 2-3 trips to EU countries per year!

Unfortunately I'm unable to help with number 3...

10 000zł brutto works out to just above 7 500zł netto if you will be taxed like the rest.
If it's your first time living and working in Poland, you will need to figure out how to save
especially on rentals. By all accounts that salary is not too shabby at all.
Best advice is come alone first for the first few months and find an affordable place
for your family and call for them when you're settled. As for an infant, you've already heard
from other posters, it's not cheap at all. Travel around Europe is cheap on budget airlines
and budget accomodation but with an infant it might not be convenient for you.

if 7,500 for 3 persons, it won't be "high life" and forget about savings and about traveling around (good hotels nicely located are not cheap).
