Living in Krakow from scratch :)

Dzien dobry!

I believe, there are threads about living in Krakow, but I'd like to bring it up.
Questions which I interested about are:

1. What is an average rent payment for a 1 room (that is, 1 bedroom) flat in a descent location? Any websites for real estate agencies are appreciated.

2. What is an average sum one spends for food per month?
3. The same for transportation (mostly public, home to work and back, occasional taxi trips).
4. Are there any private Polish lessons in the city for English (and Russian) speaking ones? What's the average price for such?

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

1. 900-1500 zł,
2. depends what You like, how often do You eat outside, but I think 800-1000 zł is a must,
3. dont know Krakow, but in Warsaw, a monthly card for buses, trams is about 150 zł, taxis are not very expensive,
4. I dont know, but if You speak Russian You should catch Polish in no time just by watching tv or listening to people.
all the best to You

Thanks a lot for the figures!

As for "catching Polish" - I don't think so. I once started to watch some Polish movie with no English subs - I couldn't get a word. :-)

This can ranged from around 800-1500pcm, dont deal with estate agents as they will charge you through the nose for little work. I dealt with one when I first went and was out of pocket by about 10,000 before I even had the keys.

2. What is an average sum one spends for food per month?

I normally spent around 500-600. But some months I could easily spent 1000, but that was shopping for at alma!

3. The same for transportation (mostly public, home to work and back, occasional taxi trips).

90z's was all I paid for a monthly ticket that allowed me to use any pubic transport. Average spend on a taxi from huta to centre was about 30z.

4. Are there any private Polish lessons in the city for English (and Russian) speaking ones? What's the average price for such?

You pay about 900z for a course.

Thank you all!

I got the point about real estate agents, but still, are there any local websites for flats rentals in Krakow? Can anyone share links?
