What do you generally think about Poles?

You see it a lot in television in Poland as well, a lot of the programs are just bought from other countries

That's all around the world. It's safer to buy a license for already famous programme as you don't have to worry about promotion.

I know but it seems as if in Poland you get an awful lot of it. Why is it safer? You have to pay for the right to have it. Why not think of your own stuff?

because they're already checked hits. You have to pay for rights but you can be sure of success.

What are Catholic values, WP? You see, if you are to separate one group from another then that separation has to have some meaning. For example, what values does a Catholic Pole share with a Catholic Spaniard? To what extent is their religious conviction meaningful? Be careful not to transcend into the realms of spiritualism as this is a religious question.

It is not just the fact that they have their own versions of dancing with the stars, dancing on ice, moment of truth etc it is that they make their own Polish versions of television programs from Britain or America such as 'Alo Alo' or 'Don Matteo' and others. It is one thing to show a foreign TV show on Polish television and even to buy foreign gameshows but when you copy a TV program to make your own version with pretty much the same characters I think it just takes the ****.

I think Poles should revive Sarmatism and start wearing turbans, jewels and silks again and be aloof and dismissive towards Westerners.

I'm with you wholeheartedly on this one. I've just dusted my silks and jewels and I'm taking to wearing a turban starting tomorrow. Will a towel do or should I look for something more classy?

I know that, so I started wearing silky stylish dresses long time ago , with jewels I don`t go too far ,you know , just a necklace and few rings .

Even in the day, 99.999% of them didn't get so much as a sniff at jewels or silk.

Byronic is smexxy... oh ...the question;

I have not met many that I know of. The purebreds I know seem to be worried that..well..they are polish :/

I can say I have so far genuinely clicked with every person of full or 1/2 (still speak in house-cook-etc) descent..long before my BF.

Of those 6 people 4 are brofist kind of closeness..my kin within. My very closest, My Brah is Polish+Greek/German and large than life-twice as sassy.

Once they are not in broody , cautious silence all had witty, dry humor even trolly. Yet still had conservative manners. Conversely to the humor they are pessimistic, serious and ambitious.

(I always feel odd reviving thru necomancy...but I comply : Use the Search and Similar Threads features to avoid duplicating threads)

I'm Polish, and my opinion of Poles is mostly positive, but there are some negatives.

Positives

-Hard working, great work ethic, modest, direct, very family oriented, natural born entrepreneurs

Negatives

-They complain too much. If you complain about being unemployed, get off your ass and try harder, even if that means moving to another country. They can be paranoid at times. Too many of them are Catholics, but good thing its becoming more and more non-religious with the new generation.

I am a Polish-American and I think Poles are too eager to be like Western Europeans

So what? Who cares if Poles want to be like Western Europeans? I'd rather have Poles behave, dress and act like people from France, Germany, Scandinavia, Austria, etc, than people from Russia, Ukraine, Romania and Belarus. I'd rather act Western European than Russian.

what kinda bs statement is that? It looks like you're trying to impress certain PF members who are known for being bitter anti-Catholics.
What's so special about atheists? What makes them better than Catholics? I'm a baptist myself but I'd love to cuss the hell out of you for making dumb comments but I won't do it because I don't want to stir up another war on PF. I don't care whether you believe in God or not but don't say that whoever believes in God is an idiot (it's basically what you said) because I know whole bunch of Catholics who are much smarter than you. Smart people don't make comments like you.

Aren't you a rude one lol. First off, I'm not an atheist. Secondly, I never said "atheists are better people". I'm not trying to impress anybody. The truth is that Catholicism has too much of a presence in Poland, and can be too influential. Poland is the only country in the EU, along with Ireland, that doesn't even allow abortions.

Another example. You have the Swiebodzin Jesus Statue, which is absolutely pointless. That money should have went to something useful, such as infrastructure or putting the money in education. You would never see Catholic priests do that nonsense in France, Spain, etc. Priests get far too much special treatment, and the Catholic Church in Poland is behind the times. I hate to say it, but there is too much of an obsession with Pope John Paul II.

I'll tell you what's rude, is to make comments like yours, degrading Catholics, basically saying that whoever is a Catholic, is automatically an idiot.

I never said "atheists are better people"

Negatives

YES, YOU DID by stating that it's a "good thing its becoming more and more non-religious"

The truth is that Catholicism has too much of a presence in Poland, and can be too influential.

Your profile says, you live in Canada so what's your problem?

I hate to say it, but there is too much of an obsession with Pope John Paul II.

OK, I give you that 1 but still, as long as Poles don't kill anyone in the name of Pope or Catholicism (in general) I don't care. ,

There's a lot in what you say. At the moment in Poland there's a growing debate about the role of religion in public life, whether the state should be secular with religion a personal matter or whether the state should be theocratic. I prefer the former.

Lol at this article: Polaks and the way they and the term is seen worldwide

plejada.pl/newsy/rafal-olbinski-w-ameryce-polak-to-synonim-glupka-tylko-u-nas/0lrb9tt

I told you guys how they are. The thing he has wrong is he only mentions some small villages but come to warsaw and how much of liers and manipulators they are when it comes to anything. Try working for one of them or see how the landlords treat you hear. Its everywhere their deceit and small mindness not just villages.

Their hypocrite catholicism is the funniest of all. The most devote people that are also some of the smallest and most petty in the world with lies and deceit off their tounges.

What is the funniest of all is how much hate they have depsite their supposed catholicism. its hilarious hearing them talk about or blame Ukrainians for everything when ukrainians are the only civilized people here or at least in the big cities who have jobs. They certainly dont act like their queens or princesses and dont gold dig to that degree.

I've always had tremendous respect for Poland!

She's been bullied by bigger, stronger, rapacious neighbors, yet always seems to come back swinging.

What's so special about atheists? What makes them better than Catholics?

No atheist ever refused to take his kid to a doctor because God told him to pray, instead. And that's just the beginning...

...or even worse, a couple who are Polish .... they decide not to speak to their children in Polish.

We are that couple. Worse yet, we don't speak Polish between the two us alone, either. Ever. Even when arguing. That is also in English.

The reason is very simple. In my 50 some years here, I instantly knew who speaks Polish at home. It's always lame and with that heavy accent. I wouldn't have been promoted to management had I been stuck in that Polish mentality. That would mean about half a million bucks before taxes in the bonuses alone that I would have lost without that promotion and another so much from my salary that was higher than what the engineers reporting to me were making.

My point is that living on a Polish plantation in the US is very expensive. BTW, my kids never had any mental complications from no knowing a word in Polish.

Should have been "the two of us", so don't tell me that my English sucks.

please keep to the topic

No

Could you stop making things up as you go along? It just painfully obvious that you're lying.

Point in the case:

1."I instantly knew who speaks Polish at home." More oft than not it has nothing to do with it. Kids pick up English at school and at play. You generalization is just a guess. Shows you know nothing. Even if that speak or are spoken to in Polish by one or both parents they use English to communicate amongst themselves and other kids.

2.Benfet of speaking Polish is to know more than one language. Being a monolingual person is nothing to be proud of, is limiting. I guess you don't know the difference.

3.

don't tell me that my English sucks.

Your mentality suck.

I told you guys how they are.

Really? Tell us more...about yourself. You already told 'us' plenty.
- bitter
- jealous
- resentful

What else is there to know?

I sow today on TV Polish soldiers in KFOR mission, down there on Kosovo, looking how Albanian (Shquiptar) police (police that consists from former terrorists and former ISIS veterans) molest local Serbian civilians, native Slavs and Christians.

What should I think?

I see how is great brotherly Polish people put down in shame and misery by its own government, by official Poland. Today, no difference between official Poland of today and of back in time Warsaw Pact. Only foreign master changed, only internal governors changed. If somebody told me that Polish soldier can stand peacefully, look and actually serve as logistics to Muslim extremists that attacking Racowie civilians, I would tell him to go to hell. But, today that is reality. That is Poland of EU and NATO. Anti-Poland. Poland vs. Poland.

BDW, just for full info, Serbian TV didn`t give any comment about situation of Polish soldiers on Kosovo right now. Nothing good, nothing bad. Why tell anything when our TV and our state knows pain of Serbians when we see Poles how practically stand against us. While we don`t care for stance of Brits or Germans, we feel pain when deprived from Polish support at time like these. No, not that we won`t endure and prevail this. We will but, we trusted in Poland.

So is that what all your posts are about?
Trying to gain support from Poland, the biggest Slav nation in Europe, for your barbaric, racist Serbs?
Good luck with that one mate.....Poles don't care about Serbia...you have been told this many times but you still bang on,boring us to tears....

So is that what all your posts are about?

He basically wants Poland to agree to be a vassal state of Russia and for both countries (and maybe some others) help Serbia commit genocide against the Kosovar Albanians...

Some people here just think he's a harmless crank, but I think he really does have genocide in his heart.

Polish people your experience?

Mine is that they are a erious roughneck bunch. They hate to answer any questions a tourist or anyone may have for them and literally hire people who have no idea about the products they are selling or advertising and dont want to answer any questions. Even at bars, the bar tenders are super rude and demanding. The good thing about Poland is there is never an expectation to tip anywhere basically because no one does, that is a western ideal not caught on here yet (which is good). Also they are super xenophobic and ethnocentric. Even their women or girls. I went to a social group and constantly heard both Polish males and females talk crap about other nations or races. They also always have to compare themselves to west even their history they always have to add something to it related to the west.

They also try to take other countries credit, like they never mention Ukrainian Petrlura only Pilsudski being allies against Lenin:
economist.com/node/21651265/comments?page=9

And their own exploitation of Ukraine including in modern times how Ukrainians are treated and how they scorn at them but they claim for instance on this forum how open they are and how Ukrainians are treated well. I know for a fact many Ukrainians speak perfect Polish because they hide their ogiin due to public scorn and the way these Polish brush their noses at them.

Poles are hard working people. They rebuilt the country after WWII, from the ashes. Like the Phoenix: it was born again.

It's a country full of wonderful people, and it has some bad people - like all countries in the world.

If the Nazis could not destroy Poland (remember: they wanted to kill all Poles after the Jews - BTW, Jews were Poles citizens too), anything can destroy Poland.

God bless Poland and its people. I'm also a Polish citizen (who haven't been in Poland yet).

What else? The Pope was a Pole: he was the best, most lovely pope since John XXIII; just my opinion.
