Examples of popular Polish music?

My posts tonight are mainly from Polish Prog Rock bands, some Prog Metal and maybe a few odd ones at the end.
I am trying to turn Dougpol1 onto Polish music.... I know he likes a bit of Prog Rock, but he probably knows these bands better than I do...

youtu.be/l4osex1zNiY

Polish musicians seem to get Prog Rock and there are loads of good Polish Prog Rock bands out there.
But I have no idea why.

youtu.be/eRmpsHmf9l4

Riverside are probably the biggest Polish Rock band on a global scale right now.
I like this one.

Sounding a bit like the Maiden, this is one for you Joker :-)

youtu.be/63Zsbw2eSxA

Some different stuff to bring my posts to an end tonight.

youtu.be/RLVTFniVs9k

Very Polish, very Goth......

youtu.be/vz6UVGcHgp4

I have already posted too many songs tonight, unfortunately, by next week I will have forgotten what I have posted and may well put the same videos up again.... :-(

Anyway, last one tonight.

I liked the one by Millenium. The Riverside one you talk about appears to be missing Milo. Here are a couple of Riverside ones I like:

youtu.be/HAqU-RDnYyY

youtu.be/001IMO53JwY

I quite like Coma too:

youtu.be/s8dUlUkrzEE

youtu.be/mK1ST0F0K1Y

By the way Chemikiem , do you understand that song? I'm curios.

Which one Iron?

They sound awesome man!

The first video you posted sounds like they stole the melody from Seal`s "crazy"...lawsuit:)

@Chemikiem

Absolutely loved all your posts.
Riverside and Coma are probably my two favourite Polish Rock bands.
The Coma song I love best, I have temporarily forgotten the title,is not available on youtube at the moment.
It was filmed in the Polish desert.....
As for the Riverside video that I failed to post, it was "Celebraty Touch"and you have just posted it. :-)

They sound awesome man!

Glad you liked it!

Great job Milo.

PS: He didn't only play metal Pawian.....

Correct if you mean his entire activity as a DJ throughout all 1980s. But there was a period of 2 or 3 years when he mostly played metal. I suppose it started around 1983 with the first album by Metallica. That was the time when I was an eager fan of the music and an avid listener to his programmes. I vaguely remember it stopped in 1986.

@kaprys

I liked all your posts. But didn't know any of the songs.
The only band I didn't know was Kazik, and whilst I was never really into Punk or New Wave style Rock, I quite liked that too.The video is terrific.

I like IRA more, but they are a bit "Def Leppard".

The Human song blew me away..........
Long hairs do Rock best.... :-)

Kazik is the name of the guy and he's a legend here. Check out Kult as well.

How about Sweet Noise feat. Maria Anna Jopek

youtu.be/7XBExQqgyuU

The song they made with Górniak is good, too.

Sweet! Thanks Milo. Very 80s :) Which is probably why I like it - a lot.

@ kaprys, loved Ira, Human and Sweet Noise, but didn't like Kazik to be honest.

The song they made with Górniak is good, too

Yes, I really like it:

Sweet Noise have come a long way since they formed.
I liked some of their early stuff too, but they have really progressed.
The song you posted was really good.

I kind of see that, but only just.
They were Chemikiem's and Dougpol's favourite posts of mine.
There is very little new music you can write now as most of it has been done before.
There is a big debate going on right now about stealing tunes.
If you are a big enough artist you can steal at will.
Because your sales and profit will be so large that any fine from a lawsuit for copyright infringement is just an affordable tax on your profits.

If you are a big enough artist you can steal at will.

Led Zeppelin has been blamed for ripping other bands off and its basically true. Stairway to Heaven, Dazed and Confused, How many more Times, just a few songs that they been accused of stealing. Off course, they can hire the most expensive lawyers to get them off the hook.

Stairway to Heaven

That's still undecided as far as I know. There are so many songs out there that you can practically not avoid to come up with the same melodies.

I really like these two songs by Sweet Noise and imho even though they're relatively old they haven't aged much. They sound as if they have been recorded pretty recently.

Just like Piejo kury piejo - that song is probably twenty years old or so but sounds quite modern.

As for Kazik, it's just one of the versions of Janek Wiśniewski padł - the song /poem written after the death of Zbyszek Godlewski. I personally love how aggressive it sounds here plus the quotes from the film.

Janda's version with English subtitles from Człowiek z żelaza.

Here something interesting:

Iron, I absolutely loved that track, very haunting melody. The words aren't very clear at all, but that doesn't sound like Polish to me.

Just one post from me tonight.
My parents generation were military, who came to Britain so that they could continue their fight against Germans and Russians.
All they wanted was a chance to fight and a bit of respect.
They eventually got both.
But even after they had proved themselves, at the end of the war they got no respect.

I know a better song than yours which deals with these issues:

303 Squadron

Playingforchange.com. Music brings us all together, right? :) Looking for some Polish input....there must be some on this youtube channel - so many great musicians around.

Feeling very Polish today (it must be the grey autumn skies)
A perfect song for a perfect lazy Sunday (come on you Welsh boyos!) Nobody was more anti-communist than these boys, with their "You know what you can do with your ******* Polski fiat!"

doesn't sound like Polish to me.

Well, it is in kind of an eastern Polish dialect (as I call it), some might say it is not Polish but something else. I just say that peasants were using it for generations in the eastern part of the old Poland. I understand it no problem.

I'm pretty sure for someone who is learning Polish it would be rather hard. Sorry, I played a little joke on you :)

Tell us more about the song.

Well is a track sound from a serial - Polish one - Kruk. Szepty slychac po zmroku. Composer Bartosz Chajdecki considered one of the greatest living composers of film music in Poland.

eastern Polish dialect

Mazovian dialect? Białystok, Suwałki? I am presuming north east here.

I understand it no problem.

You are from that area originally? I think it's hard to understand even if you know some Polish. I couldn't catch a word of Polish in there, and although if a person singing isn't that clear, I can usually pick out a word or two here or there.

Sorry, I played a little joke on you :)

I guessed that but don't apologize, I loved the track :)

Here is another track I like:

You guessed right. Although whilst I'm talking about OLD Poland means much further east.

ou are from that area originally?

Nope, I'm originally from Silesia although I moved with my parents to W-saw while still a child.

I think it's hard to understand even if you know some Polish.

I don't know. I guess if someone has no contact with anything else but standard Polish all his life then yes, I guess it could be difficult to understand for such a person. I'm only saying I have no problem with it.

A crow/ a black bird fly, looking through the window, shoo you black crow fly away, let a little child sleep.
A nice track. Pretty generic but in Polish. :)

Great post.
It is better at dealing with the issues than my post.
The British did actually ask 303 squadron to march, but because the rest of the Polish war effort waw not being recognized, they, quite rightly, refused.

Thank you all for your posts, I enjoyed them all.

Music brings us all together, right? :)

I think it does.
When you realize how much we have in common with something as emotive as music, it makes the political viewpoints less important.
Music has always been a uniting force.

Can I have a suggestion? How about we write the titles of the songs we post here. The videos disappear so fast and when you're on your mobile it's not that easy to copy and paste.

I'm gonna post something very different today. Really old songs.
Starting with Mieczysław Fogg and very sensual lyrics to Pamiętam Twoje oczy

youtu.be/gUIjW6s45mA

And songs that generations know.
Hanka Ordonowna Miłość Ci wszystko wybaczy

youtu.be/Gere_K02mGE

Baby ach te baby by Eugeniusz Bodo

youtu.be/98n-q1wjp5w

And Sex Appeal by Bodo as well

youtu.be/FSKvi5sB1Po

And that pronounciation of L ; )

Your posts remind me of my dad,... he had a ton of 78's, half that sort of music and half accordian music.
He even brought an accordian home one day and I did try to learn to play it but failed miserably.....

The weekend slips by too quickly...it makes me a bit annoyed and so on Sunday nights I quite like listening to some Hard Rock or Metal.

This is a Polish forum, so all these will be Polish bands..... I have tons of them, so will only post a handful tonight.
Joker, I think you may like this.......

youtu.be/bsIDTe-Wuoc

Joker, your Bluzeski side may like this :-)

youtu.be/wCVr5yWJ03g

I love this too....... Poland Rocks!!!!!!

youtu.be/0do4WCk8Ye8

I have probably posted this before, but it's worth another blast....

youtu.be/qcZ27JPfv4o

Last one tonight for anyone that says Poles can't do Metal...... my message to you is F××k Off!
