Hello! I was wondering whether anyone here has gotten temporary residence based on being a sole proprietor- (JDG)?

I am going through the process right now, and I was wondering if you can share the templates for business plan and other documents to fulfill the obligation to show paperwork in support of this requirement per the MOS website: "if the activity in the year preceding the application did not earn the required amount or did not meet the employment criterion, submit documents proving that you have the means or carry out activities that will meet these conditions in the future, in particular those contributing to the growth of investment, technology transfer, the introduction of beneficial innovations or the creation of jobs."

I didn't look into it, but it's highly unlikely you would get a Polish residence card based on a sole proprietorship status. Everybody could set up such a company without problems. However, it may help only if you go through the regular process of obtaining karta pobytu as they require the person to be employed or self-employed.

Just a reminder for those who pay their taxes in Poland that for 2024 you can still put up to PLN 9,388.80 into an IKZE. If you do and you pay the higher tax rate on at least PLN 9,388.80, you'll get PLN 3,004.41 back from the taxman.

You should have already been paying tax if you were here more than 183 days per year. A very small chance of getting caught though. Yes there is a double tax arrangement with the US..
