Hello, I noticed individuals were looking for the words to this song. My Uncle Joe Kilianski sang this song in his Polka band back in the 1940's. It goes:

This war is over and we sleep in fox holes, deep in muddy fox holes eating onion soup
Our sweet wives are waiting with dreams and celebrations, what a celebration, Hoopai Shup.
Hoopai shupai, hoopai shupai, hoopai shupai Donna (or dana)

Which war does the song refer to?

WW1. The Polish lyrics mentions trenches and tsar (while the English lyrics mention mud). Listen to it here:

It's one of my favirite Polish Polkas.

Not bad. Music is OK, but these lyrics are a bit simple - the same one stanza and chorus all the time.
