looking for help with English language books or digital learning for a polish 10y

Cześć!

I am looking for help finding good tools to help some family in Poland improve their English. She is learning in school but finding any extra help was pretty difficult for me while I was in Poland, the bookshops were no use at all, and back in the UK it was mostly English to Polish.

What would you guys recommend?

Dzięki

In the age of AI and tech, books may not be the fastest way. How about some apps on their phones or TV/computer? Alexa or AI may answer them in English in real time, even if they speak in Polish, or translate Polish into English. Or perhaps they should watch movies with English subtitles.

The fastest way would be to talk directly with a native English speaker (you?). The only problem is motivation - if they want to learn English, they will; otherwise, it's a constant battle.

For sure AI and tech will be great options, but they tend to lack structure, and the resulting motivation to progress and satisfaction of completion, which is especially important in children. There are some great apps that I've used that do this, but i know her time on the tablet is limited too. Any particular recommendations of apps for her age?

When she was younger, it was much easier to find books as they were much simpler, we could sit together and her mother would even join in, to improve her English too.

Might be difficult to find available native English speakers in Poland, except maybe at a select university, for example Poznan.

Hi, I suggest you check out the BBC Learning English website. It is especially good for ensuring that the pronunciation is correct. I find that a lot of Poles do not pronounce words with TH correctly. They either use F, V or D instead of TH.
There are close up videos showing the mouth and position of the tongue on the BBC website.

I hope that helps.

Best and cheapest (free) way to teach yourself is AI.

Tell it to prepare a course of study for yourself. Use the voice functionality, to speak with it.

It can correct your pronunciation, grammar, and everything else - in a way no Duolingo or Berlitz can.

It will also feel much more natural learning this way.

I walk around my house talking to my AI agent in Italian, and it's been the best thing I've tried for language study.

Have you ever seen Arlena Witt's YouTube Channel - Po Cudzemu?

I use it sometimes to just listen to her speaking Polish, so I can get used to the cadence and flow of the speech etc. I wish there was a website create for English Speakers like this.

As a resource for learning about English, I don't think it can be beaten. She has a few books and an audio course.
The great thing is that she explain both the British and American pronunciation and how they differ from each other.

The best teaching channel in Polish I've found is this one (though she hasn't posted in a few months).
It's all in Polish and most of her students are coming from post-soviet countries (obvious from comments and sometimes the topics she presents) but super clear diction and she explains points of Polish grammar pretty clearly.

Thanks for that, I have subscribed to the channel and will take a good look at it.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Arlenas's Polish grammar on Youtube looks like it could save me some fights with the Mrs as she hates it when I mention grammar.
The BBC website is all in English, so I think she may struggle for now and I dont think she will make the best use of AI on her own.

From trawling around on my own, it looks like klasa 3 is for 8-9 year olds, so depending on how well she has been doing at school, this may be a good starting point.
Amazon doesn't show me reviews, and it seems I am the last living human who wants to buy a book, so I'll probably try something like the following:

amazon.pl/Angielski-Karty-pracy-Klasa-3/dp/8368043581

amazon.pl/Angielski-dla-dzieci-8-10-Zeszyt/dp/8381144027
