History / The Warsaw Uprising memory. To remember who you are. [180]

@Lyzko
Are you serious?
The Kielce pogrom wasn't done by any lone wolves, especially not any type of partisans... But by communist authorities, by the people's militia and soldiers from the people's army...

Even the NKVD refused to intervene with the matter, that should tell you something.

Whoa! *phew*

I have a sentiment for the Afghans, but inviting millions of em (who many most likely are cape able of manufacturing firearms with simple tools) is a very bad idea for any European country

Unless PiS gets the bright idea to only invite those for the creation of new firearms lol

Life / UFOs in Poland [37]

The whole UFO was about Soviet spy vehicles using new technology developed in Hungary during world war 2.

The U.S tried to avoid the embarrassment of acknowledging the Soviet Union taking the lead in the Cold War with gathering intelligence.

I remember watching a documentary about the whole thing, and the U.S government is more then happy to continue the facade as it lead to the increased interest in science, space programs and science fiction in movies.

Whenever I hear somebody believing in aliens, I just roll my eyes internally and facepalm cause it's too much to grasp for most people and a lot to explain

USA, Canada / WHAT IS THE US POLONIA LIKE? [42]

I studied migration in history (mostly Norwegian&american) and there it was about how many of poorer countries and Catholic refused to attend the school system as much as possible (in the U.S.A) seeing it as useless and a waste of time, compared to Scandinavian immigrants who had fewer children and focused on them gaining education (as high as possible).

Among other things, Polish immigrants tended to wife up Americans of African descent (most legal migration was/is performed by young male men, as it takes a lot of bravery and courage to venture outside ones comfort zone. Later on comes the closest family members if there are any)

So I am not surprised by the fact that the Polish Polonia uses white knee socks, or even socks in sandals for that matter (German tradition). A lot of Poles during the 1800's were oppressed by partitioning powers, and easily could sympathize with the African-American plight. Only Poles who truly are racists are those who have succumbed to their hosts country's social rules and lifestyle/mentality. Which history proves time and again

News / Poland to get the newest version of M1A2 Abrams tank [90]

@Miloslaw
I agree, military experts have the most to say in such matters. Alas the final decision is up to the President of Poland, which the ministry of defense takes care of in times of peace. So your very idealistic with your approach, the militaristic faction in Poland is dependent on the good will of the bureaucrats as they are the ones who organize wages, have the most contact with the ministers, and take on the micro scale management of hiring new members in to the army (soldiers, officers, doctors, clerks etc). There are tons of formalities going on and regardless of what the colonel of an army unit wants or pleases, they are stuck and blocked by an ridiculous amount of regulations which bureaucrats can mercilessly use to their advantage at the slightest mistake that's performed.

Since promotions, setting wages and recruitment is supervised by an civilian administration. The needs of the non-civilian part of the military is not only misunderstood but, also actively worked against at every possible step of the way. Going so far as creating an entire new operational military branch "territorialsi"

So the idea I came up with would simply be a way for the military to check out possible new recruits capabilities, without much paperwork (and tax money) and less formalities before anyone of them would be recruited.

It wasn't about creating a new combat unit per say, but an improved method of recruitment so that actual combat units will be more easily created.

The amount of testing and check ups, are rather pointless if it's possible to do it without the use of firearms, by testing of physical skills and the amount of obedience and loyalty a recruit has.

Generals and the like have very little influence with their personal contacts as they are easily countered by regulations. Which again creates a need for party loyalty (the governing one obviously) in case they make a mistake, if they desperately want to keep their station.

Cause of the PRL traditions within the army, connections and the actions during the 1980's when Jaruzelski tried to fix PRL with a firm "army discipline"

Many became quite sceptical and wary of the army cadre (as it was heavily tied to the commie party, but also seemingly with Moscow) and it has been a goal by the labour union parties (PO+PiS) to exchange, drive out or reform the military faction as much as possible while reducing their operational activities as much as possible.

It has been possible thanks to the servile nature of the Polish people's army since it's foundation in the Soviet Union. The tradition was that disobedience+disloyalty lead to excecution.

Thankfully it's not that anymore, but the possibility of getting thrown out at a whims notice. Removing privileges, bonuses and wages which by many soldiers were part of their life plans and throwing them out from the food table they get heavily accustomed to that most grudgingly in fear are careful of doing as little wrong as possible, and punish anyone severely amongst their own if they rat out about anything.

So when journalists not knowing about this, find out about mismanagement or worse. Writes an article and makes them feel better, while an entires lives can get ruined cause of it. Creating arguments for further regulations and more restrictions.

Problem with terrytorialsi in my view, which many are worried about aswell is the high chance of it being mainly an hub for sicophants.

There is no hiding it that one of the main motives behind work in Poland is driven by money, as to how plan their future. Anything threatening it, can easily lead to unnecessary conflicts.

I would have voted for an enactment of military drills and training (unarmed) with instructions of what to purchase for usage during such training (on Saturdays).

Like an blueprint how to make an rifle out of wood for training purposes etc. what kind of cloths to wear etc. then allow the formation of training fields build and organized by "Gmina" to point out which area could be used.

Then later on as it's better organized improve from there, what type of equipment would be legal to purchase, what would require a license etc.

Making it as cheap as possible, and as non-funds reliable as possible. Then the government can decide what to do or improve it etc

Said shark would most likely just swim by the school of fish until their gobbled up then strike at the fat sharks. Just like Cossacks did with Crimean Tatar/Ottomon raiders that attacked traders/Polish farmers. Which was the reason of the Cossacks losing any rights and status as nobility, behaving like opportunistic plundering bandits... Not very noble, knightly or loyal.

Maybe I'll be proven wrong hopefully

China looks more mercantilist

It´s basically using rules of commerce as long as it´s to their own advantage or seen as needed. Just like Great Britain in the 19th century, opening up states for foreign trade (especially British trade) as long as nobody is investing or doesn´t have the interest or possibility of investing in to the British isles. It´s very hard to create a free market without the state or other states interfeering.

Just like a Mafia deciding not to collect any dues from "protection" in the streets that they own. The only time they would want something like is that if they had their own merchant earning the most money from such a market thanks to it, paying them for all the expenditure they have. Making it not only legal but, also impossible to blame or claim them to perform criminal activities. Like having a security firm only for the purpose of protecting markets where the merchant is doing business, and protecting his wares as to increase their own ability to pay legally for ever increasing expenditures

They always have the option of resettling in to Poland, the formal barrier of moving in to Poland is gone for Germans (right?). Any lands being bought in the former parts of Prussia/Germany from the times of partitions will be met with warranted suspicions. Especially those that still haven´t been settled or fixed by the law, while any German settling in southern/eastern parts of the country or the main cities (especially Łódź, Warsaw, Cracow or any of the easternmost minor cities) shouldn´t have any problems and will most likely be met with curiosity and positive bewilderment.

German mass migration in to Poland in a peaceful manner, especially in to Poland´s eastern territories which are poorer/cheaper and would be welcoming with any form of investments wouldn´t mind most likely.

would be living in a german Ukraine

I find it a bit funny reading it after I posted my post

Just like Poles migrating from Kiev to Poland after ww1, and Poles from Lviv after 1945 were called Ruthinians or Ukrainians.
It´s done mainly to see wether you are really are a German or not and how you react to being called us such, getting emotional or not etc. Testing basically.

Suuuuure....:)

I guess you haven´t heard of a certain Polish joke... Here it comes:
The chinese called the Germans: "Want to go to war?" The Germans reply: "Bitte, allready had one recently with Russia... Call them instead"
The chinese called the Russians: Want to go to war?" The Russians reply: "We have enough as it is, why not call Poland? They wouldn´t mind"

Then the chinese call the Poles: "Want to go to war? The Poles reply: Sure, how many are there of you?" the chinese reply smilingly: "over 1 billion of us"

The Poles say: "Och Kurwa! Where are we going to bury all of you?!"

That´s Konfederacja, using the percieved enemy as much as possible before they fall. In any possible manner, just like most right-wingers in europe.

As I have said before PiS are moderate centrists on the Polish political arena, just like Høyre in Norway. Moderatene in Sweden, conservatives in England I guess? And the most left leaning parts of the republican party in the U.S.

It just hasn´t succumbed to a lot of the leftists agenda like other main centrist parties in the west. Which infuriates centrists and leftists alike in the west

I dunno...the last decades of experience?

If that was true, then PiS would had done everything they could within their power to get Poland out of the EU+NATO and being an constant advocate for leaving said organizations! It is merely using such rhetoric as a bargainening chip and stealing all the electorate it can get from the right side of politics, so that any competition from there is unable to perform better then 20% or more support. Other opposition aren´t able to get the support of that electorate no matter what, so it´s easy support for them and so far only option among right wingers who prefer PiS over PO/Lewica etc

@AntV
If U.S.A, EU and Russia have same aspirations of being a Hegemon. What difference does it make? There aren´t any options right now as I can see it, if they really continue with that behavior and are serious about it

Most of the media is anti-PiS, takes really little for them to critisize them for anything. Including media such as Media Narodowe, rzeczpospolita, Polsat News, TVN... You name it! It´s just TVP which most likely won´t oppose for obvious reasons, the opposition wanting them taken down completely

PF is an american forum about Poland, talking about Poland. Not PiS only, I don´t know any PiS supporters on this forum. I guess I am the closest you can find to be a PiS supporter here, and I am unwilling to vote for them for a long time now. Proportionally this forum doesn´t represent Polish voting patterns in the slightest at all.

I can see it short term but a long term is rather against their interest.

Their long term plan was to react to any spread of communism following the Truman doctrine, and keep any Imperial powers out of America (including specifically Latin America). Having good relations with Canada, keeping Mexico in check is vital for them. After the fall of the Soviet Union, they have scratched that plan and went victorious and relaxed until the 9/11 crisis. Then it was terrorism which was the big thing and long term enemy, slowly but surely making their own population terrorized not only by a fringe extremist group, but also their own very government and the virus that spread.

U.S.A keep on trying to find their "next big enemy" and now have an debate wether the conservative "reactionary" are the enemies of the U.S and most damaging or the LGBT side are the enemy of the U.S as a whole and the common man found in a crossfire with it. Dragging foreign countries into all this domestic dispute, and endangering the present dynamic which Poland has help sustaining in Europe. Going purposely against Poland´s national interests, doesn´t help the U.S, even if their biggest supporters are governing the country. Just because the Democrats see PiS more aligned with the republicans politically, they are ruining relations which were building with the U.S administration as a whole.

Thing is it is in USA interest to build up three seas area for a number of reasons

As I have written earlier, they perceive Germany as a better bet. Will most likely always do even in state of war, just so they can profit out of them after the war. It's only about money for them and nothing else, mathematicians performing diplomacy.

ahem what support?

Yupp, a lot of EU members. Especially the public are quite delusional about the magnitude of the importance from the direct financial investments coming from the EU itself. We sure are greatful for it, but thinking it´s some sort of life or death lifeline is highly delusional. It simply shows to what degree and if the EU really wants Poland to be part of the EU or not, the numbers in it are purely symbolic as a means of comparison with other EU states. Sort of how much do we get out of this "symbolic cake" in percentages among the EU states that are on the recieving end.

The the real help is all the trade and investments in Poland, which will be gradually like a domino effect if the funds are reduced or Poland is cut off from recieving any help. It´s political will that is more important from the EU as a whole, rather then the € itself.

News / New American Ambassador to Poland? [26]

@Ironside
Within diplomacy, when it comes to military matters they are rather fond of helping out. Especially in the middle-east, south-america and in east asia (Afganistan, Vietnam, Korea). While helping out anti-communist elements pre 1989, past 2000 it has changed a bit due to the twin towers terrorism. The needle that hit the heart of America, kind of like the Doolitle raid in ww2.

The difference is that the twin tower attack was the peak of terrorist achievements from the anti-U.S terrorists, while the Doolitle raid was a show of force and a warning of the upcoming bombardment coming towards mainland Japan, which only increased until the two atomic bombs right before the end of ww2

They assassinate Christian clergy and are very one sided in any relationships, only need to look at their romantic relations with foreigners and their attitude to any Turk being of another faith compared to secular or Muslim.

It isn't viable as a long term relationship, but only as co-operative in individual cases and balancing out hostile states. Besides it would be problematic with Ukraine, and Balkan states most likely.

It doesn't seem realistic

Considering Hungary was Nazi´s Germany´s last loyal ally and despite of that Hungarian troops not only provided relief and help when garrisoned near Warsaw in 1944 but, also went as far as actively letting voulenteers help out with the fighting on the Polish side that they had to be withdrawn from the area by the Germans...

So yes, the world was looking and passively helping and being sympathetic towards that plight or willfully ignoring it. Our "supposed" enemies who were on the Axis side helped us out in our most dire time of need. I will never forget it, and have a hard time imagining that any Pole will ever wants to or forgets it. He should then rightfully be reminded of such things then.

"honey" ??? :)

American slang, as we are still part of the same union I considered it comicaly appropriate for the purposes of drama/tragedy/comedy and underlining the closeness between you and me as friends here on this forum while also the shared link Poland and Germany currently has as states. It was simply shorter to write it as honey is something positive and even healing while also used in mead, underlining the importance of the said word in this context and mutual relations.

No! You totally underestimate how unpopular that pipeline has become in the whole EU

Hmm
