Life / Is the word "Polack"rascist? [185]

Culturally I'm American but by birth a Pole.

As i'm sitting here typing this, I have this sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that for some unknown reason, i'm really going to regret asking this question, but, I really do have to know. (bin Topfgucker)

Where you were actually born? Not Hospital/street name personal, country will do. :)

There is also a valid answer to the question. See post #42.

Self praise is no recommendation mate. :)

It's not condemnation, more presupposition.
It presupposes that they do steal, but you want to know how much they steal. Like "do you still have sex wth your dog..."

Still, agree with you mate:

Rubbish question.

He was told by many ppl that when he comes to PL, he must be very very cautious, because in PL ppl steal a lot, espacially if someone is a foreigner.

That is a really deeply ingrained prejudice in German speaking countries sadly, in my experience.
I told some people I knew I had a Polish gf and the initial response was always one of pity/concern for me. (If I went to PL with her, my car wouldn't be in my possession long, she's probably just after money then they'd launch into anecdotes about the trouble with Poles etc)

Regularly on German tv there are slurs against the poles, they seem to be the German equivalent of the Englishman's Welshman.

Worst offender? Oliver Pocher. My ex used to spit if he even appeared on the tv.

Love / Polish women are the most beautiful in the world! [1718]

The "friendly fire" (There's a nisnomer if ever there was one) incident is all the more disturbing as these plots couldn't identify shockingly different vehcle profiles, even though that is one of their primary functions in the role of CAS.

What makes it worse was, the Brits involved radioed the FAC shouting stop, stop, stop check fire and the FAC replied that the A-10's had gone rogue. Meaning, that they were tuned to different frequencies and talking to each other, so he was unable to contact them.

To top it all, the brits even popped smoke, identifying themselves as friendly, which would have been visible as the A10s made their second strafing run... I guess at that point the uh rah red mist had decended.

A tragedy and i'm sure it'll go the way of the last FF inquest. No blame apportioned to the Brits but no charges brought against the americans.

Achtung, Achtung

Leider! :(
Alle nach vorne aussteigen.

Hey uk I see you same old pleasant person that you always are!!

Oh I don't know, he seems to have mellowed a little bit, don't you think Sledz. The R&R seems to have done his spelling a world of good. Only about 3 grammatical mistakes so far plus there's not quite so much vitriol dripping from his posts yet.

so please remind me, what it was.

hehe It was Zipfer, but that's just good because it's cheap. :) For me, the best is Stiegl Zwickl.

German wise, i'm a traditionalist, love Erdinger Weissbier in Bayern daheim, in der Welt zu Hause etc etc

Honestly never tried Raderberger (Spelling was spot on!) Wroclaw, it's a bitter and i've always struggled with them...

Going back on topic and showing my ignorance. Do poles do wheat beers? If yes, what's a good one to try?

Promise not to take this too far off topic, just want to ask M what her favourite German/Austrian beer is? Please don't say Ottakringer :)

As for polish beers, got to be honest and say i've never tried one.

Thes best thing about Welsh is the way they sometimes use English when there is no direct translation or equivalent. So, you might hear:

Ro'n i wedi bod yn edrych of course ... brilliant. It never fails to catch me off guard either, I always think i imagined it or something! :)

edit: ps i really do actually like the sound of welsh...can't pronounce it myself for shite though!

@M

Wien..well, when I went it was -12, snow everywhere. Thoroughly miserable place and the people had manners to match...and don't get me started on their dialect... hoho Sure it's a great place really, i've just never been a city person...for example, it's not just Wien I detest, i also loathe London. hehe

Well, when you're at the bottom, the only way is up right?! :) So, yep, i reckon so!

I did yeah, i'm still composing a reply, but i'm not following my old English teacher's advice "Don't get it right, get it written" so it's still in draft form (sorry, there have been times when ice ages come and go between my emails!)...but sure, i have no problems what so ever. Love our "chats" :)
