Travel / E36 from Germany to Poland - possibly the worst stretch of tarmac in the World? [7]

No problem.
What is strange about that stretch of motorway is that the lanes leading the opposite direction towards Germany have been resurfaced. But apparently for the direction leading from Germany there was no budget. Some people say that the local council has decided to leave it the way it is on purpose.

So it would add credibility to your attempts at whitewashing Germans

Attempts of whitewashing are only part of your wild imagination. Discussing facts and trying to whitewash something are two different things.

If the facts are too painful for you to discuss, then don't discuss them.

Yeah sure keep telling yourself that buddy.

So, are you saying that the Ukrainian guards did not carry out the orders given by their German officers? You do know what it meant to disobey orders in the SS, don't you?

Even if that would have been the truth (it is not) it wouldn't change a thing. It wouldn't have erased German responsibility for the Holocaust.

Nobody has ever said that Germany wasn't responsible for the Holocaust.

You simply have no clue what's going on in Poland.

Sure. I am oblivious to what is going on around me here in Poland :-)

I'm not going to waste my time.

If you don't want to waste your time, then please also respect my time. Of course it is easier without registering your username. You can come up with a new name every day and never fear to have to provide any backup to the nonsense that you write.

Moreover, I have ready met a few foreigners here who pretended to be Polish

Who you met and what they pretended to be is not my problem to be perfectly honest with you. I believe that I have made it very clear where I am from on numerous occasions.

but the vast majority of the Jews in Poland were killed by the Germans.

How would you know? Is there a record of which country the guard was from who locked the door to the gas chamber and which country the member of the SS was from who dropped the gas from above?

And what have they done?

When you bother to register on this forum as a member I might.........

. He wasn't locked away for being too dangerous, just interned with other potential sympathisers at the start of the war.

Yes, he is the one i meant. Thanks jon.

Interned / locked away. It's the same thing isn't it? He became dangerous and the British government knew that he posed a thread. They locked him away as a pre-caution.

Not a bad thing. The Germans should have given Hitler the sentence he deserved and kept him locked up for the rest of his days instead of letting him go after a "spa retreat" in a Bavarian prison.

Haha, now you say that you're Polish? Don't make me laugh. You speak Polish "troche" but you are a Pole. Oh my...

When did I ever make such a claim? On the contrary, in another thread I have made it pretty clear that I am German although my mother is Polish and my father is French. I have never, in any way, said anything that would contradict the fact that my passport is German and that I do feel that I am German even if I am the only one in my family.

How you get to the understanding that I claim to be Polish after my comment -

Exactly! And you said -

- is simply beyond me. You can of course write "HAHAHAHA" in capital letters to try to get the audience on your side but it does not change the fact that I have never claimed to be Polish nor will i ever claim to be Polish,

All I have to do is check random articles about it or comment s in the Polish internet. Or just ask people around me.

Yes and I am sure that the people around you would be all too happy to admit the wrong doing of Poles in the Holocaust...........

Secretly hoped that their governments would slaughter Jews?

As i said, Anti-Jewish propaganda wasn't something Germany invented. It was spread all across Europe.

Nobody wanted anyone to get slaughtered but at the same time wished "they would just disappear". In Germany nobody wanted to happen what happened, same as in every other country in Europe. But we can not close our eyes to the fact that at the time Jews were as welcomed across Europe as a fire in an orphanage.

Even the UK had it's own "Hitler" but when he became too dangerous he was arrested and locked away. I just can't remember his name at the moment.

I speak as a native Pole, and you?

Exactly! And you said -

It makes us laugh when we hear how some foreigners accuse us of something now.

Who is "we"? Who is "us"? Do you include all Poles in that "we" and "us", even those who still show their affection for Nazi Germany?

So your "people roaming the streets" is an exaggeration.

Yes, i must admit that it was a tiny bit exaggerated. But, those people exist in Poland and in lesser wealthy areas of Poland, their numbers are quite big. That's not something you can deny.

excuses a large number of Poles from fomenting Jew hatred within their own cities and towns!!

Hatred towards Jews wasn't something the Germans invented. Anti-Jewish propaganda was spread all across Europe during that time. Just the Germans actually went for the "final solution" while others merely talked. Doesn't change the fact that in Greece for example, the locals of Thessaloniki applauded when Greek Jews were deported. Similar scenes happened all over Europe but after the war, everyone was "shocked" and blamed the Germans for doing what they secretly hoped would happen.

In general, we can only hope that something as the Holocaust will never repeat itself. But in order for that to happen, we have to openly deal with our past, as painful as it may be. Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary have done very well in their attempt to deal with their part of that period of time. Poland seems to be lacking either interest or guts to openly discuss the involvement of Poles in the Holocaust and openly discuss the Anti-Jewish stand of members of their beloved AK.

of heavy racism from the Nazi in our own country. It makes us laugh when we hear how some foreigners accuse us of something now

When you say "we" do you mean all Poles, including those who like to lift their right arm in order to make sure that everyone understands their political beliefs?

It is beyond me how you can claim that there was no racism and anti semitic element in Poland when we still have people roaming the streets of Poland with a very clear view and ideology in favour of Nazi Germany.

"statute of limitations" (Verjaehrungsfrist)

The "Verjaehrungsfrist" does not apply to crimes committed during the war. Just a few years ago, the German government put a Ukrainian guard on trial in Munich.

Apologies, of course it was not the German government but the German state prosecution that put the guard on trial.

Belsen, Dachau, Orthruf

Yes, but these were not on Polish territory and it is my understanding that the concentration camps on Polish soil are the subject of discussion here, no?

the orders in ALL cases were given by the German

but carried out by the Poles, Ukrainians etc. If we take the Ukrainians for example, a lot of them have willingly signed up to the SS. The orders may have been given by the Germans but it was the Ukrainians and also the Latvians (as an example for the Baltic troops in the SS) who enthusiastically joined the SS to follow those orders.

Anyway, to think that it would have been possible to carry out the mass murder of millions of people without some kind of involvement of the locals is somewhat unrealistic.

As "TheOther" has said, after the war they all claimed to have been part of the resistance.

Travel / E36 from Germany to Poland - possibly the worst stretch of tarmac in the World? [7]

Does the E36 out of Germany into Poland still shake your fillings out or has it been resurfaced?

It is still the same Morrisey and there are no plans to resurface it until 2020. I believe there has never been any work done on this stretch of motorway since the Germans build it in the 1930's.

Love / Are Polish men chauvinistic? [35]

robably most of them need to get disappointed after their first "exotic" relationship with a foreigner after see the sad reality.

Do you have a complex with women? Have you not been able to keep a woman in your life because of the poor choices you have made in life?

Which woman dreams of "being disappointed" before meeting her real love?

Just the idea that women "need to get disappointed before realizing what they can have" shows me that you are only able to pick up the pieces. You would never be able to date a woman (whether Polish or not) who is successful or has an idea of what she wants in life.

I can't believe that i actually responded to this thread but after reading your nonsense, Mr. Loverboy Levi_Br, i had to.

Life / Is 10500 monthly is enough for a family to live in Warsaw Poland [136]

@ AndreiTheRed, I am surprised that any company would offer you 15000 PLN gross per month in Poland, if you can not work out yourself whether that is enough to "live on" in Warsaw.

That's a salary enough to "live on" in the UK so why wouldn't be enough to "live on" in Poland?

Travel / Suggestion for nightlife in Poland [28]

While i was living in Lodz

In Lodz I would recommend club Loza, Kaliska or Riff Raff. For pre-club entertainment, Off-Piotrkowska is the best place. Good restaurants serving a variety of dishes and drinks from around the globe.

However, there is no way that I could recommend Lodz over cities like Warsaw, Krakow or Wroclaw for a group of young men looking to party it up a bit.

Genealogy / Are Silesians people German/Germanic? [178]

It only proved they have an agenda but no evidence to support it.

The evidence is the fact that a dialect is only a dialect when it does not differ in writing. I am not sure why this is so hard for you to understand.

I would rather leave it up to Silesians to decide for themselves

The Silesian people have decided before and that decision did not go in favor of Poland. This was mentioned to you several times now. You however ignored the results of the referendums and replied with "Aufstände in Oberschlesien". The results have clearly shown that the majority of Silesians casted their vote in favor of Germany. The riots do not change the results.

If you ever do make it across to Europe, which I doubt you will, you should take the time to extensively travel throughout Silesia. You might be surprised. For that however you first need to change your ignorant attitude towards facts.

Life / Polish ID number - Numer Dowodu Osobistego required in Poland [7]

Have you tried this using an online form? I simply can not go any further if the format is not correct. Even if I try to manipulate it somehow, move three letters of my passport number to the front and use 6 numbers at the end, it still tells me that it is incorrect.

Technically this means that Polish most online forms where an ID number is needed are useless for us?

There is not Silesian in writing because until recently there were no a Silesian dialect but in fact there are Silesian dialects a fact you apparently know nothing about.

Assuming that you are referring to the fact that the "Silesian alphabet" was just created recently, I can not understand your post. Even if it was created a month ago, it would not change the fact that Silesian differs to Polish in writing. A fact you simply can not dispute, no matter how many times you repeat that I do not know nothing about it.

there are Silesian dialect

Yes, something that was never disputed here.

Life / Polish ID number - Numer Dowodu Osobistego required in Poland [7]

It has been wrecking my head for some time and now, that I wanted to order a new phone contract online, I finally had enough.

It seems that hardly any bank or in this case internet shop in Poland takes into consideration that some people (foreigners) do not have a "numer dowodu osobistego" or the one they have (identity card number or passport number) does not match the Polish criteria of ABC000000 for example.

When I applied for my credit card, this was already wrecking my head because although some banks have the application form in English, it became useless when they ask for the identity card number. Same now for Play.pl which when ordering a new contract, is asking for the identity card number with the Polish criteria which I can not provide as my passport is German.

Does anyone know how to go about this? Is there some kind of document (ID card or something else) a foreigner can get in Poland that would have a "numer dowodu osobistego"?

Trust to Serbs.

Now here is something we should definitely not do, unless you have something that can back your claims up?

Silingi were not Germanic but they were Sarmatian tribe

That is simply not true. They Silingi were part of the Germanic tribe "Vandals".

Jolly what Wikipedia says:

I believe that Wikipedia also refers to the fact that Silesian differs to Polish in writing.

Are you not to able to grasp the concept of language vs. dialect? I understand that maybe it is difficult for you to understand the language thing seeing that the most exotic thing you probably ever heard is the Kentucky accent.

Here in Europe though we do have different languages, not just dialects or accents. If you ever make it over here, I am happy to show you.

What all this chattering has to do with the fact that Silesians is a dialect?

It is a fact that Silesian is not a Polish "dialect" but a language for the simple reason that it differs to Polish in writing. Do you want to dispute that fact?

Sorry, let me re-phrase that......

Are you even able to dispute that fact with your limited knowledge of Poland and Silesia? Surely, to understand the topic at hand it would be beneficial to have stepped foot into Poland and for that matter into Silesia.

Seeing that you are only able to grace this forum from across the big pond without having ever visited Silesia, I would assume that it is difficult for you to understand why Silesian is not just a dialect.

But I am more than open to listen to your explanations.

Its all within Slavia.

Ah ok. So, it is all within "Slavia". I believe we have heard similar arguments when Serbs went on a rampage in Kosovo to rape women and kill children. It was all within Serbia, right?

Nobody within Slavia can`t secede Slavic land and attach it to other civilization.

Let me make one thing clear to you. There is no such thing as "Slavia"
Unless it is something that exists only in your bedroom when you walk through your wardrobe door. Perhaps you have some kind of special place there.

It can`t merge with Germany.

For now, it is about the status of the language. Let's cross other bridges when we come to it. And even if the people of Silesia would decide that they prefer to join Germany, which would be ignored by Germany anyway, it would not be anyone's choice but the choice of the good people of Silesia no matter how much you start kicking and screaming.
