Please do not forget that racism is all around the world. And accusing a whole country and whole people about racism is really ridiculous. I can give you so many examples for any country...

English came to Turkey (I live in Turkey) and in the year of 2000, a dozen of them were killed by our people just because of a simple football match....

And I can say that the same point, that radical Muslims do not show respect to non-Muslims in Turkey

A couple of years ago, some Englishmen attacked Muslim districts in London (i may be wrong about the city)....

In Germany, Neo Nazis attack and burn peoples' homes recklessly...

Every year, we see that in US, a cop beats a black man in the middle of a road.

The problem is people, I mean "us". Something is wrong and we should correct it.

I mean we are doing monkey mock to black people. Put yourself in his/her position. What would you feel if the same thing happened to you?

And accusing Poland for this subject is even like discrimination...

I don't want to act like I know and I am an expert about this subject. But I think,this is my ide, respect and empathy can help the humanity about solving this big problem.

Hope our kids won't be discussing this ridicilous threads like that we do now.

I am Turkish and I ve been in Poland for 1 month, and studying Int. Economic Relations or with another name International Business in Gdansk which is taught in English, but it's master degree. The price is 2500 euro for per year. And if I am not wrong, for bachelor 3500 euro is required for per year.

I suppose you can look at Uni of Poznan though, the price is quite similar as I remember.

About education quality, I can say it is fair in UG, but of course it's been 1 month and it's too early to give a definite opinion:) My first choices were UK and Ireland, as you may guess they want so much money, then I wanted to study in Krakow or Warsaw but they were expensive for me, so Gdansk seemed to be the best choice. Lecturers are well intentioned and helpful, but if you are able to afford much more, you'd better choose Warsaw or Krakow I think. If you have any questions more, I ll be happy to help.

Lyzko thanks for the advice :) Yes, in here the biggest problems for me first language, second the weather. If you do not know the language, you feel like a real alien here:) Of course it is the same if you decide to go to any country as being a foreign person.

As you guessed correctly, I intend to stay here for a couple of years if I can find a job, but I am not sure if I will be able to learn Polish properly:) I could just learn some basic things in one month, but as same as Turkish, Polish seems to be a hard language. I gotta take some course maybe, but I am not sure if I could afford to take some.

The classes are given by Polish natives, but most of them speaks with a clear accent, so we don't have any problems:P

Joking apart, it is really a hard decision to go abroad for school, a man should consider so tough before doing it. You are spending your money, your time, and you expect to add something to yourself. And some personal problems come with it also, like culture, food, people, language:) It would take some courage:) Of course these are my ideas, my story is a little bit different:)

As I know, if you are a Polish citizen, you still have to pay but I think what you gonna pay is an acceptable amount. You can look at some universities websites for tuition fees.

For instance in our website it says (for master degree)

Non-EEA (European Economic Area): 2500 EUR per academic year.

Polish citizens and nationals of other EEA states: 2300 PLN per semester
(4350 per academic year).

Additional fee in the first year (only for non-EEA nationals) is 200 EUR.
The non-refundable application fee (only for EEA nationals) is 85 PLN.

So if you are a Polish citizen, you are to pay something around about 1100 euro

What I told about 1100 euro is the price shown on website for Polish citizens who wants to join Int. business master degree in Gdansk given in English. That price is just an example:)

You are coming from a more racist country to a less one, as being a Turkish here, I feel more comfortable than Turkey. Old people are afraid of us but I understand them, because I am also uncomfortable with muslims and most of turks. During the time I've been here I was generally treated pretty good, I was just harassed by some skinheads 1-2 times. I had more problems because of being a Kurd in Turkey...

If you don't have prejudices and youre openminded, friendly, etc etc, you wont have a problem... it depends on your behaviors.

Our nation is "generally" racist, religionist and dont like other nations. But I mean "generally" not all of them. So if you come here you ll see, its really a great country. for me its at least 2x better than Turkey.

I am thinking about buying a car lately but I have 2 questions if anybody could help.

1- My driver s license is a Turkish one. I have been reading and hearing so many stories such as I can use my Turkish license or I should change it 6 months after entering Poland. I dwell with temporary residence card so I suppose I should change it to Polish one? Anyone knows about it? I do not want to drive illegal. And addition to this- for this exam which office should I go to ask for?

2- About taking delivery of a car, what steps should be taken? notary-local office? and about the insurance-tax-delivery how much will I have to spend? I ll be buying an 20 year old car around 2000-3000 PLN

I am moving to Krakow soon after living in Lodz for some time.

I found a nice flat with 40 square meters in a new building close to Uniwersytet Jagielloński campus in the south part of Krakow. It is going to be around 1500 including all bills and administration fees. I was paying 1100 PLN all included here in Lodz (which is actually is not in very good condition), so what would you say about this amount for the studio in Krakow, is it too much or acceptable? I want to take comments as whatever I could find from OXL and other sites have generally similar prices.

Also another question is about zameldowanie, could anybody tell me which adress should I go for adress registration in Krakow? I checked it and I see there are a few buildings of Urzad Miasta in Krakow..

I heard generally bad comments about Lodz from my Polish friends before coming here but actually it is not a bad place. For me, it is just very dark and I do not feel very good, could not get used to it. Maybe after living in Trojmiasto for some years, Lodz was not very attractive for me.

Actually it is not the very center but it takes around 20-25 minutes with tram, around this Debniki area.

I am getting similar in Krakow, it can be okay depending on your lifestyle. I spend 1500-2000 for studio including bills 500-600 for food 600-700 for going out- alcohol and so on. 100-150 for fuel- if you use public transport with card I think around 100 pln you may spend. SO roughly, 2900-3500 will make you live normal but not much for extra things.

Note: I presume Katowice might be cheaper, so fellas who know Katowice can give better idea

the time you spent for studies are count as half, so you need to take the card for 2 and a half years more and then you can apply for permanent.
