Law / Received confirmation citizenship was approved from Polish Embassy. What's next? [25]

I have to agree with Rich 50% on his views cuz I also had the hospital asking me money apprx 450 zl upfront to take my xray etc to treat me which is my first hand exp.I have medicover best plan they have for 5000 something zl a yr.I did have to go back to there admin office to get the paperwork and submit to medicover which credited the money to my acct.I ALSO DONT LIKE POLAND AND POLES ATTITUDE ESP LATELY.But I do like the money returns I make there and low?like NO taxes there. They raised taxes by 50% in my field,I will be paying almost 38kzl more in taxes with 0 benefits this year. Its better then US still a bit.Poles are lately up in thin air and show off like idiots compared to Americans.Who cares about Polish citizenship! its a curse anyway,KEEP POLES OUT OF USA AND MAKE THEM PAY MORE FOR VISA FEES TO USA.

Law / Inheritance Law in Poland (protecting myself from in laws) [25]

@OP,Go to a Notariozs and draw up a will and the notary will register it also.I have done that with my investments in Poland and draw up a will in your native country and register it there as well(I know about USA not about Australlia) and do mention your property in Poland or otherwise, establish a estate and one of the spouses or immediate kids will be the beneficiary of the estate including Polish investments.

Law / Inheritance Law in Poland (protecting myself from in laws) [25]

rozdzielnosc majatkowa

Does that mean separation of assets? If that is the one you mentioning then its not a cure its just delaying the problem as when one spouse dies the other spouse inherits and the problems from siblings start all over again.

Also incase after making the will one spouse dies the other can quickly get the will formed in her native country executed then the court system in Poland, also with Polish property(if its mentioned in the will in her country. The only solution suggested to me by a lawyer and notariuz is to pay the notariuz 200pln and draft a will and file it as then the greedy ones will have to first prove that the will was wrong.

It is Polish law when an property is bought by a married person the other spouse has to sign on the deed as well(new law in 2017 or18,before one party could buy on both names without mortgage) until one spouse writes a written statement that he/she has nothing to do with it.But it is always better to buy together and have a official will.

Law / Inheritance Law in Poland (protecting myself from in laws) [25]

What I meant was not about immediate relatives like spouse, offspring etc,I meant that the relatives/siblings etc have no rights to claim only the spouse and kids with will in Poland.Parents lately I heard can ask for living expenses even from living children.Thats why I mentioned will in Poland.

But incase of OP if she gets the will in Australlia executed with Polish property mentioned her hubbis siblings will have hard time as she can ask her Aussie court decision executed in Poland since cases in Polish courts linger for years and a decision could be made quicker there(only if she is not a Polish citizenor she will be under Polish laws and not Australian)

Law / Inheritance Law in Poland (protecting myself from in laws) [25]

As to the will- it cannot 'disinherit' completely ppl otherwise

Does that mean that my sister in law/brother in law and there kids can still put a claim incase of me and my wifes death? And my kids will have to share the properties with them?

That's why me and my wife made a will in Poland and in US mentioning Polish properties to be transferred to our kids specifying there identities.

Definitely won't be getting Polish citizenship

And Please before even you think to make sure it will not be a burden. My son in the last 5 years couldn't give up Polish citizenship(Application sent in 2013) and had huge problems getting top security clearance for his job.Smart me got it for him when he was a toddler and has rather become a curse for him now and he is not allowed to leave the country without permission.

Law / Inheritance Law in Poland (protecting myself from in laws) [25]

@johnny reb
You nailed it JR,very good wording and we will be putting those in our US & Polish wills ASAP.Infact I also have a clause that my 2kids can never sell any property or mortgage it until the older one is 44(lol if at that age they still don't know how to manage then they deserve to blow em)

@OP,I am sure Irish courts are quicker to decide the execution of will after death before Polish courts. You can take the judgement to Poland and get it enforced being in the EU.

the civil law is stronger than that clause and spouse, kids are entitled to a share whatever you write

I think the OP don't care about spouse/kids inheriting(so do I) but her mother in law and brother in law(BIL and his family in my case).

Life / Retiring in Poland [39]

How much would it be to rent a 1 bedroom apartment? How much to buy a house?

All depends where in Poland. To buy can start anywhere from 2000 or less Pln a sq metre to 30k pln a sq m.
Renting to experiment living in Poland is a good idea.Lately return on properties in Poland is almost the same as in US,so I think Poland is in a property bubble. In normal commercial places in warsaw they freaking asking 20kpln or more per sq m

Life / Retiring in Poland [39]

Dirk man 61/2% return for a freaking rinky dink restaurant commercial properties with 5 or 3 yr lease(which is crap in Poland)?I have a walgreens with that yield in US with 19 yrs left on lease and they are A grade tenants. In Poland they copying US and pricing properties with returns ONLY.Plus they raised taxes almost double with no benefits from this year,If $ wasn't that high Id be bringing back instead of reinvesting.

Work / 15000 pln gross in Poland or 1.20 lac take home in India [24]

There is no way to migrate to any other country until you get a job and get sponsored by that company or when you obtain a Polish citizenship then you can. From temporary residence you will have to get permanent residence and then citizenship.

Law / Selling 'imported' car within first year in Poland [7]

@OP,you have to own the car for 2 years outside Poland to avoid excise duty and other levies which almost amount to 48 to 52%,the price is determined by Uzjad celny(gone are the days when you could fool them). No one will buy the car with foreign plates until they are stupid or have a passion for that car.I suggest keep on driving with Slovakia plates, but insurance wise you can only insure in Poland for liability coverage until being in the EU you can get full coverage there.I have a car with US plates and have to write to Uzjad celny to increase my stay and they do for 6 months at a time and after 3 years I have to take it out of EU(I cross the Ukraine border and come back) and am good for another couple of years).

Law / How to exchange almost expired USA driving license for Polish license? [16]

I have a USA driving license that expires in 3 weeks and am trying to figure out how to replace it here

You will have to pass a test to get Polish license which will first be issued for as long as your US license is valid meaning for 3 weeks as you have mentioned but then you will have to get a medical test to prolong your Polish license. You can go to any General doctor for the medical exam,I got mine that way they issued license with no expiry date but now I heard they issue for 4/5 years and you have to renew it.Yes taking a Translator always helps:) and in my case was mandatory.

I would suggest you renew your driver license in US first as you don't have much time left or go to AAA site and apply for a IDP(International driving Permit) which is good for one year for you to drive.I don't know if Polish authorities change IDP to a Polish license and they will keep your US license when they issue you Polish license but you can always get a duplicate one in US

Also you will need a sworn translation for your license(front and back) and you have to be careful as the categories are different in Poland then in the states.

I changed my license in 2003 so rules might have changed now.

Work / Bar staff - Hourly rate Wroclaw [4]

Not in Poland and usually in Poland people don't tip the bartender. In US when I ran a bar the bartenders would die to work on thurs, fri & sat and no one would like to work on mon, tues, wed. Also legally you could pay them $1,50 an hr and they made 3 to 500$ a night on tips(they also get tips from waiteresses who also tip the cooks)
