Fritz Cola

I've seen that in shops there. Good that it's a local one.

Life / Adopting a cat in Poland? [13]

What are

Vets are cheap compare to wWstern Europe. You don't need a pussy passport. Vaccinations are cheap and there's no cat licence.

If you want to adopt from a shelter, you'll need a PESEL.

The US is not the only source of money

Plenty of European countries can outproduce Udmurtia

This looks like the way we'll have to go, especially since the US is embarrassing itself and likely to be a basket case for four years.

We shall see. There are some very promising prospects e.g. regarding the production of 155mm artillery grenades and armored vehicles

BAe and Rolls Royce engines are doing very well as are some of the producers across the sea. It's a golden opportunity for European defence manufacturers.

putin does not want negotiations at all.

He doesn't, however he's getting old, has killed 300,000 of his country's young men and he's not making progress with his three day special operation.

It will escalate of course sooner or later however his combined opponents are far far stronger than t*SSia.

Oh yes, she has a beautiful voice

She lives in Cumbria now; has a CBE. She's got a new group that only perform tours before Christmas. Unusual music. Well worth looking out on Yourube.

mental issues

I preferred cooler music than depressive boomer prog rock like Genesis.

Right now, I'm listening to Miles Davies. The Bītches Brew album. I'd forgotten how good it was.

Right, and I look like Tom Cruise

Only in terms of height.

white stubble

Always clean shaven.

And the only photos of me online are group photos without identification.

As I say, don't trust Deepak. Other people here can judge what he's like from his posts.

I wonder what happened to him.

Food / Polish Pizza !! The best in the world? [329]

mouthwatering

Jellied eels are sold in about two places in London. Stargaze pie appears more in photographs than on tables. For some reason the Chinese are obsessed with it.

I've never eaten either but would try the pie.

I don't care where the ketchup has come from, it's vile. Tried it as a kid and that was enough!

There used to be a restaurant in the Starówka in Warsaw, a holdover from the PRL era that used to serve pancakes with decorative swirls of it on.

In some Polish supermarkets there are twenty kinds, each vying with each other for the crown of repulsiveness.

Mind you, the only faddiness I have about food is avoiding raw tomatoes.

I quite like HP though with the right thing like a bacon buttie and used to like Hammond's Yorkshire Relish when they were still making it. A bit like HP but more bitter.

Food / Polish Pizza !! The best in the world? [329]

ketchup

All ketchup.

like most British cuisine

Most is varied, healthy and delicious, influenced by all corners of the globe (except for Eastern Europe) and a delight to eat.

No preserved pig entrails, decomposing cabbage or mysterious tubes.

Thrilling

More gruesome.

I have a good friend who works in one of the largest ketchup factories in PL. part of his job is scraping the thousands of flies from the top of the open vats.

British ketchup

Ketchup in general.

It's muck.

Try ketchup from Poland

We all have; it's an additive-filled race to the bottom.

Jethro Tull

I like these. A blasst from the past though they had a sort of revival in popularity when I was of the age to know people who liked them.

Do you like Maddie Pryor?

News / Poland`s aid to Ukraine if Russia invades - part 10 [1492]

A problem Putin could have easily solved by now if he'd actually cared about his people

That's something that in your country and in mine that we don't have to even think about.

Our health services may sometimes be creaking a bit, there continual arguments about transport infrastructure etc however when we complain, it's a case of complaining that the Rolls Royce is too slow.

For all their oil and gas, for all their huge land empire from the Baltic to the Pacific, they have a kleptocracy with rotten schooling primitive hospitals, very poor sanitation, villages with no running water and leaders who live in vast palaces with gold toilets, oligarchs with super yachts and of course, as always, Swiss bank accounts.

I'll take the decadent democratic west over that any time. I can see why Ukrainians want that too.

Genesis

They always used to be something that unhappy teenage boys liked.

And they listened to Phil Collins again 20 years later while divorcing.

An EMP isn't worse than a nuclear holocaust however I suspect that some countries are woefully underprepared.

They can happen naturally and sooner or later one will.

Productivity, purchasing power, safety, prosperity, freedom

Quality of life.

Some of the orcs who entered Ukraine had never seen a house with a toilet, never used a washing machine and had no idea what a dishwasher was for.

Doesn't look salt and pepper in your photograph.

I don't have any photographs taken since three of four years before covid that have appeared anywhere online. And that one was wearing a hard hat.

Don't trust Deepak....

like you

You're confusing me with your chum Joker. He keeps posting yours....

It doesn't work Jim, so quit being a prannock.

As for hair (remember what it was like to have?) I've got the George Clooney look. I don't have the greying gene. Although grey looks distinguished, mine is at best salt and pepper.

Anything in excess of that is kooky

In excess being of course killing for sport.

whales

There's nothing at all that can only be got from a whale, is there.

Yet some, Japan for example, kill those intelligent creatures.

Food / Poles have a more loving attitude to food than here in the UK [69]

not of noble birth

The term you're thinking of is commoners however that includes 90% of szlachta..

Perhaps you mean proles, plebs or chavs. Ours can usually afford to travel for leisure however PL is old hat for them now.

is your job in the Polish forum to explain

Too banal.

Douce France, cher pays de mes vacances

Mes vacances aussi.

They'd probably sell them though I'd be wary of secret kill switches.

They do make very effective missiles though.

those virgins...Where would you find so many?

Not where your daughter works.

Most of them are taken by British

There must be tens of thousands of such parties then. The bar and brothel owners would be so delighted that they'd be wetting themselves simultaneously all over Poland. Ryanair and Wizzair's share prices would probably go up too.

What are "commons"?

This is lost on me. I am not a native

Google is your friend, and if it rejects your entreaties, think of it as a puzzle.

Who sells such stuff?

Major arms manufacturers. The U.K. buys them in (though we're developing our own again as we used to) and they're manufactured in France as well. There are a couple of US manufacturers too. All private companies.

Besides, if tiny Israel can have their NW, then Poland can find both the money and space for them.

Quite.

No need for Poland to develop them from scratch since it's not 1960. The government could easily buy them in from an established manufacturer.

how can it be me if I was the one taking the photos

The person next to you could have taken them and you could have got a cab home.

Paw, try to apply some logic.

stop stuffing himself.

Quite. The guy in the photo is unlikely ever to be mistaken for a ballet dancer.

Life / Neoliberalism and family formation in Poland [100]

One treats a queen differently from a *****, just as one treats a waitress differently from a pole dancer.

I don't.

One treats a policemen differently from a thief just as one treats a teacher differently from a student

I don't either.

Show us photos you took at a contemporary event attended by commons so that

Hard to know what you mean by "commons" and like most people who've seen buffets before, I don't tend to take photos to marvel at the food.

@pawian
If that's you in post #55, I'd think about seeing a dermatologist...
