UK, Ireland / Crying Polish truck driver on British roads is Internet hit [269]

It is hard for me to discuss if you use personal attack on me.
I didn`t have an idea that this case was linked with my profession and my professional skills. Congrats for carrying a mature discussion here.

Answering to your unpleasant retort - this case has nothing to do with the offence and the law. It is about handling the case by professional police in your country. I feel it is exaggerated and they acted like a bunch of animals laughing at the face of the guy and filming it.

Shame on UK police and you who defend such behavior.
I wish you all be ridiculed on Polish TV the same way he was.

In Poland the whole case would be handled the way like this : Polish police would ask you : do you speak Polish , sir ? If not they would contact you with a translator and follow the legal procedures .

You know expats , my opinion is that Polish police is too lenient with you here in Poland . That`s just my view.

In February I got nabbed in a typical traffic cop trap.

Did they film you , laughed at you , I bet not .

Where did you actually see him waiving with a knife . Thtat`s just a hearsay . Yoiu are not a lawyer , do you ? If you were you would know that`s a hearsay and needs to be proved. But you come into a conclusion without any substantial evidence . You would lose every case in the court . How do you know about this fact from ?

How do you know that he was not just holding a knife . That would be more reasonable situation to believe in , because he was eating this diner inside a truck he has just prepared for himself minutes earlier . Holding and vaiwing a knife are just two different things . But you take it without a second thought .

Perhaps explain to us how and where exactly they 'behaved like animals'?
Some people have no sense of humour......

Most humans use thieir brain to act humanely contrary to animals who just follow their instincts .

To me performing duties , representing justice system requires proper behaviour it is not about showing simple minded , raw instincts - rounding him , laughing, talking to him and at the same time knowing that his command of English is poor .That behaviour was unnecessary .

In Polish TV, there are programs about cops on duty I have never seen cops laughing at people while doing their duties , no matter how ridicule stories they were saying .

I bet you would not be in a cheerful mood if you were put in his position .

I don't know why you are getting so upset about it.

You know, you are a mature woman so you know that every case should be judged separately . Your case was different . Period .
If it was serious he would be disarmed and charged in a minute I can assure you .

Just use your common sense when judging this situation. The cops were totally aware of the fact that he was totally harmless person and was using this knife for his dinner, that`s exactly why they started a show in front of the camera and that was mean !. They knew from the very begining whom they were dealing with otherwise the whole situation would be handled without a cameraman .

You people who defend those cops just show lack of sensitivity and can`t judge this case objectively, because you are British and thus you easily can fall into a prejudice. So , don`t call me the one who lacks obejectivity . From a legal point of view they acted unprofessionally .

Yeah , right , I should have checked you are an American suffering from so called - Poland`s denial syndrome , aren`t you ?

It will last for some time , but you can shorten this time to minimum if you start accepting life the way it goes in Poland .Don`t criticize but rather try to understand . Very healthy approach . Before complaining about Polish lifestyle start using your brain it will help . Don`t try to compare and question reality , that`t the biggest problem you may meet because you might never come out of the syndrome you got into .

Oh , I am sorry I don`t fit in your picture of a nice Polish lady , but I can live with it . I just wanted to be helpful, because I have been born here contrary to you .

My aproach to reality is firmly based in my roots , historical knowledge , facts, common sense , responsibility , clear communication and straightforwardness . But if you don`t like it just skip my posts .

I`ve explained a proper way already but I will remind you - they should have shown especially in front of the camera their professionalism .

They should ask the man for documents , after checking and finding out that he was not a British citizen ask him if he understands English if not try to phone a translator to communicate with him . They did just a miserable show , nothing to be called professional cops on duty .

Polish guy got nervous, who wouldn't? Camera on your face, you feel like you're screwed.

Mick , I am glad you noticed that and described the situation in a reasonable way not seeing it as one dimensional situation.

It`s good that you have mentioned that too.

On the top of this I sense you feel like British people look down on Polish people. Have you had a bad experience in the past?

I am the most law abiding person on earth. I was maybe stopped 3-4 times in my entire life and only for speeding up and the policemen were always very polite to me I never questioned their decisions I always agreed with them I showed my professional card , we smiled to each other and I drove away with wishes of a pleasant journey. I respect and appreciate them and their work.

Looking down on people requires some comment from me.

That`s the reason the program shouldn`t be aired on TV.

I can`t understand that mocking on other nations is acceptable in Britain in the media.

Probably it`s because you come from different cultural circles where people can be mocked around just to make others laugh.

Laughing is good but it all depends on the situation . You can laugh at each other, whatever you like, but if you try to laugh at other nation it is unacceptable for one important reason - this causes forming stereotypes of the whole nation which is unfair and chauvinistic.

The standards of BBC as a national TV station should be an example of fairness and high standards. My opinion has been different for some time but since I have found out about the recent defamatory program about Poland my opinion has drastically changed and now I view it as some kind of a trash TV station looking for some cheap audience .

Look at Sasha Cohen and his roles in which he mocks other nations. My advice for him would be - go ahead and mock your Jewish compatriots, your family and your mother and so on.

He does something very disturbing, he provokes people to racists acts . Such morons as him should be laid off and stay jobless for their entire life.

Poland represents other standards these days. If someone tries to mock other nation then he loses his job, no excuses. Vide - the ESKA Rock hosts of morning talk show carried by two obnoxious people whose sense of humor was funny only for them. Thanks that the directors fired them finally.

Poles don`t look down on other nations and I am appalled by the magnitude of bashing Poles in Britain. This TV cop show is just a small example off adding to such stereotypes.

I am sorry that some of you can`t see it.

Do you think we don`t have stereotypes about British people here in Poland ? We do .
They are just taken straight from Charles Dickens novels and do you think they are flattering; no they are not , they are way far from that.

But because of that do we look down on you British people? No.

You could notice it during Euro 2012 where Polish people welcomed all of you with open arms, showing great hospitality and friendliness. Was it because you are perfect, of course not, but because we are just different from you and have far better values.

Nobody is looking down on this driver because he is Polish: we are looking down on him because he is a cretin who thinks that him being hungry is a valid reason to put lives at risk and because he is so pathetic he thinks crying will make the police let him off.

You are just a senseless person who does not understand a thing from what I`ve just written above .

What was funnier for you : his body language , his English language or maybe something else ? What amused you the best , tell me , Harry .

Monia the rudest people I have met IN MY LIFE have been POlish people in UK laughing and joking about the appearance of everyone around them,

Do you judge Polish people as a whole nation by some morons who had no manners . Sometimes people become acting like animals while abroad . Look at some Brits visiting Poland .

Do you think that I judge all Poles by the same standards? There are some morons in our country too . There are quite few of them . But is this a reason to judge and stereotype Poles on some TV show .

This single TV show stereotypes Poles as: law offenders , strange and ridiculous coming from the land of potato .What a masterpiece production . The level of the drama added by those cops can only be compared to Hitchcock movies .

Do it in your TV but use your own morons to make you laugh . That would be healthier approach .

BTW I have never seen in any Polish TV show a scene where some foreigner would be ridiculed .

The Poles were ridiculed by this guy and that`s why it shouldn`t be aired in order not to raise any prejudices against my nation , that`s what I was pointing out . Is it so hard to understand ?

I have no intention to go to your country , been just once for a visit ( in Southampton for yachting invited by my Polish friend) . He is a dentist there not a cleaner . I have no intention to take your jobs . You are just hysterical here . There are 37+ million people living in Poland and do you think that all of us want to overtake your jobs .You sound ridiculous and funny with such accusation. I have a satisfying profession , getting much more money than I could make in your country , so my intention is to stay here and work for my country . No need to worry , sleep well.

I think the truck driver was an actor. Point blank. Paid off to act that way so that some people can have a cheap laugh at the expense of the stupid Poles who keep "stealin' our jobs".

Could be, I thought about it too , because he didnt say any word in Polish .

I think that this scare really pertains that job issue , because one poster has just accused me of trying to steal British jobs and that woke me up and made me thinking how poisoned their minds are and how square minded and insulated they are , believing in those lies they hear about Poles from their cheap and primitive TV productions . People who come here for a visit are so surprised that Poland is such a nice country that makes me realise what they hear and watch about Poland are just lies.

This is what you said earlier

That was your saying and please don`t lie again and imrove your reading skills in your native language . That`s not surprising you are scared of your jobs if you don`t even comprehend in your monther`s tonque.

Sorry , but I need to go to work tomorrow , so I prefer to have some sleep rather than answering your stupid remarks . The whole program on BBS was so phony that what surprises me more that many of you beleve in that made up story .

Life / What's wrong with Poland? I don't see anything. [121]

All I've learned here is that English speaking Americans of vaguely Polish descent hate Poland for reasons they cannot explain.

Your description is very accurate , but I must inform you for your well being that most of Poland`s haters who post on PF are not Americans of Polish descent but expats mostly from Great Britain who came to Poland to teach English , but because they barely can make ends meet they are very frustrated , because they didn`t become selfmade millionaires and the only one thing that keeps them alive is the idea of bashing Poles . What a pity that this attitude can`t apply to Poles who can`t say any negatives about Britain !

.Now all their frustration they spill on Poles or Polonia posters . The norm and adopted rule here is bashing everybody who gives any positive approach to Poland.

UK, Ireland / How much people in UK are manipulated by false anty- Polish propaganda [37]

If Flynn could you provide a source?

It is prof. James R. Flynn , I think Poland`s position hasn`t changed because he hasn`t published new data since 2006 . As I`ve said earlier only reliable , scientific data are valid for me . He is a uni professor studying for years this subject of human IQ . His latest studies revealed that women`s IQ increased significantly , but this trend pertains only to the youngest generation of women who were given education in recent years .

Ant 63 - so do you claim that your own research is more valuable ? Oh , gosh you have some high ego about yourself . For the majority of reasonable people it is not . Daily Mail cited a study carried by some uni staff not by biased people . So having in mind that fact I would rather believe more Daily Mail on that than your opinion even if this newspaper is biased towards Poles . According to studies of prof Flynn , Poles scored in 1979 - 106 points in 1989 - just 92 points and in 2006 - again 106 points . So , I don`t claim that we possess the whole wisdom of the universe but don`t assume that Poles are inferior to you even if they live in a working family environment in UK . And as Poles we lost almost 20 years from 1980 till 2000 to rebuild our human resources through tough transformation period . Polish GDP decreased to the 1970 level so did our IQ to the level of 1940 . But this trend was stopped and a progress started , not only when Poland joined EU , few years earlier . But don`t forget about the forgotten but important fact that Poland was behind the iron curtain and we were isolated for many years with soviet installed government and their plundering economy where the soviets demanded an export of our goods to USSR in exchange rate where 1 $ was counted as 1 rubel . And Poland was banned from importing goods from EU countries with technology newer than 10 years old . Before you start bashing Poles and me read some facts about history and economy of Poland .

Honey ,of course , as an attorney I have better opportunities in Poland and I have no intentions to move to your country . But don`t assume that other professionals don`t settle in your country . This ternd will have a positive impact on Great Britain , beleve me, as many ages ago it did on Poland where settlers from your great country settled on Polish soil in thousands . Some data provide the number of 90 000 new settlers from GB mainly from Scotland .We Poles welcomed you and let you live as Poles with no restrictions because we are just like that - open hearted people . There are Polish dentists and doctors already in UK not only blue collar workers .Those people have an average IQ level of 117 or above according to Polish high average scores .

I have no intention to argue with you , just wanted to say something about the subject which touches constant underrating people from Poland . We are the same people and maybe we have something more to be proud of than you guys from UK . Just read Polish history and you will find out why we are still a nation and a very proud nation . If a person had a high IQ he/she would not be staring an argument using the same old mantra as you did . Blah , blah I made my own research , come on, give your newest data to some research institute they might pay you and such a low cost researching will make earn you a new job .

I would really like to see this false anti-Polish propoganda

If you had intentions in showing fair facts you would rather post this link :

jrf.org.uk/publications/modern-slavery-united-kingdom

where true situation is described , not a link about some Polish couple trafficking 4 other Polish . They probably wanted to become big time organised crime bosses in UK , but wanted to start with some low key operation for the beginning , but were so unlucky ....... Probably those with 70 something IQ.

Travel / Castles and Palaces in Poland (with pictures) [154]

The level of constant endeavors to diminish our heritage among some of you amazes me. An example is in this thread. So, I will try to bring some historical facts about Malbork.

Firstly
Of course Malbork castle is the biggest castle in the world. A simple Google in the internet will provide you with the proper information. Malbork is the biggest – no question about it.

Secondly
Why do you diminish our pride by saying – zee Germans built it?
We have the right to boast with Malbork too, why, just read this:
Zee Germans had this obsessive idea of settling on Polish territory from the beginning of modern Europe, but their endeavors were always build on treachery and bribery .The story of Teutonic Order was not different. After the fall of the Latin countries, the Crusade`s military orders have moved their headquarters to Europe. Initially placed their headquarters in Hungary, in 1226 year , the order was brought by Prince Conrad Mazowiecki to Poland to fight against Prussian pagan tribes ( Prussian pagan tribes were not Germanic ).

Baltic Prussians were tribes who inhabited the territory of present Mazury, Kaliningrad areas, the area of Samogitia (now Lithuania). Prussians did not adopt Christianity; often raided Polish lands especially Mazovia, the raids were the main reason to bring the Knights to Poland by Prince Conrad Mazowiecki. People of Prussia were exterminated by the Teutonic Knights in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, some Prussians assimilated with the Poles and Lithuanians. This is a joke to claim by Germans that the lands of present Mazury region was their, while the truth is so different - the first settlers were Prussian tribes which were totally perished with the hands of Teutonic order – doubtfully German people. After the killing of Prussian tribes the settlement of peasants from Poland , Czech and Germany started .

Kingdom of Poland after many years of fights with Teutonic order defeated them and resolved the order. It was in 1525. The last Grand Master of the Order (Teutonic) in power over the state - Albrecht Hohenzollern, turned the State of the Teutonic Order in the secular state (Prussia) and became its ruler (prince). At the same time paid homage to his uncle Sigismund the Old, king of Poland. So as you see our king was the Master`s uncle. So our relations with longtime enemies were changing over the time and at that time, we as a state were so powerful and could decide about the future of the new state of Prussia which paid us a homage.

Going back to the subject of Malbork, as a payment for their fight with Prussian tribes the knights received from the Polish Duke in land tenancy, a region of Chelmno. With the help of forged documents obtained by the Knights, the Pope (believe it or not, he possessed such power in those times) confirmed that Chelmno was their land and the pagans too.

Malbork castle was sold in 1457 to the Polish king Casimir the Jagiellonian for the amount of 190,000 florins (approximately 660 kg of gold) by the Czech mercenary commander Ulrich, which had a lock on the lien in exchange for overdue wages, in default of the payment of the Teutonic Knights order. Polish king triumphantly entered the castle on June 7, 1457. From then on, until 1772 - partitioning of Poland was one of the residences of Polish kings.

As you can see we could destroy the castle, plunder it or level to the ground, but instead we dealt with it in a legal way - we paid for it. If the house changes its owner in a legal way the buyer becomes his legal owner. So why can`t we be proud of our property? If this property was being well kept and renovated over the centuries by Poles it has become our pride too. You will not change the history.

It has been built on Polish soil , on a land given in tenancy by Polish duke , with Polish bricks and other materials by different nationalities , then legally bought by Polish king .

Travel / Castles and Palaces in Poland (with pictures) [154]

You are Czech aren`t you ?

It needs an average IQ level person to comprehend something different after reading my post and come to some conclusions as follows:
1 having defeated Germanic order after 200 years of fighting we could do anything with the castle and pay nothing , but Polish King along with the nobles was an honored person and he felt it was a dishonor not to pay for such a huge structure ( sic!) to a lawful creditor who was not connected with sleazy Germanic order but a legal owner of the castle of that time for their unpaid debts . So the money didn`t go to the Germanic order. What a joke of fate . If they paid their debts we would have taken it over for free.

2 Polish people are not thieves like Germans or Swedes who were plundering our land and whatever couldn`t be taken away and moved to their country it was burned down by them. Those plundered Polish national tresures are kept as theirs in their museums with brazen writtings attached - "spoils of the wars ". Swedes robbed all original works of Mikołaj Kopernik and keep them till today with no intention to return . Napoleon was the same thief and he stole national treasures from Italy , now the whole Louvre is packed with the greatest Italian paitings like Mona Lisa and many others .

The only answer to you is such - because we have morals !

Maybe you Czechs don`t even understand what it means as you helped to Teutonic Knights and fought along with them against Poles as mercenary soldiers . Some of your countrymen were not paid for that service , thats why the huge debt aroused . But it doesn`t need to be smart to conclude that there were a lot of Czechs fighting for the order if the debt for unpaid pay was worth 650 kg of gold .

Life / Poles love of knights and battle. [10]

So sad , that the national TV brings such lies to people .

info-poland.buffalo.edu/classroom/JM/GT.html

This is more reliable link that explains the battle than the above link which contains strange criticism of the painting.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Grunwald

Why did Matejko know how knights looked like ?Because of the works of Jan Długosz . He described the battle with details here ( there is en English version too , but you need to search a bit :

staropolska.pl/ang/middleages/Sec_prose/Dlugosz.php3
staropolska.pl/sredniowiecze/dziejopisarstwo/Dlugosz.html

Here are some excerpts from his annales about the begining of the biggest war of the middle ages "

"Your Majesty! The Grand Master Ulryk sends you and your brother (omitting the name of Aleksander and the title of duke) through us, the deputies standing here, two swords for help so that you, with him and his army, may delay less and may fight more boldly than you have shown, and also that you will not continue hiding and staying in the forest and groves, an will not postpone the battle. And if you believe that you have too little space to form your ranks, the Prussian master Ulryk, to entice you to battle, will withdraw from the plain which he took for his army, as far as you want, or you may instead choose any field of battle so that you do not postpone the battle any longer."

And here is a response of that depicted by BBC as pheasant Polish King after such a brazen speech of that two Teutonic envoys -

"And King Władysław, having listened to the boastful and impudent words of the Teutonic deputies, accepted the swords from their hands, and without any anger or resentment, but with tears, responded without hesitation to the heralds, with strange humility, patience and modesty. "Even though", he said, "I do not need the swords of my enemies, as I have in my army a sufficient amount, however, in the name of God, for securing greater help, protection and defense in my just cause, I accept these two swords brought by you and sent by the enemies who desire my blood and my destruction as well as that of my army."

What a class and bravery King Jagiełło showed 600 years ago .

It is not a crime, right ? . But do you think that bringing the facts needs patriotism?/ I feel the need to explain Polish history, because some facts are only known to us , because they are written in Polish .

To me patriotism is a very important part of my life and I am not a victim of liberal`s indoctrination which is common in today`s Europe . I am not inclined to any political movement and my opinion is always strictly mine .

UK, Ireland / How much people in UK are manipulated by false anty- Polish propaganda [37]

There are a lot of examples of Polish people excelling , just take a look at the scores in math or informatics international olympiads where Poles excell year after year .

But having high IQ does not guarantee that you will become a millionaire , as prof Flynn said in his book about human intelligence the Individual can use his or her high IQ if he/she lives in prosperous conditions . Otherwise the potentials are wasted . Poles even endowed with high IQ live in rather hostile conditions that our state provide us , such as : high unemployment rate , low wages , undeveloped infrastructure , wrongful takeovers of Polish enterprises ,so Polish people with high IQ so far struggle to survive rather than develop themselves also this high IQ levels are possessed by individuals born after 1990 . So these young individuals are too young to take advantage from given potentials. Those born in years between 1975 - 1989 possess IQ 92.

Genealogy / Polish looks? [1462]

As a group of people it is easier to determine our Polish heritage , not only by clothes, but by the colour of hair or eyes and the structure of face . But honestly Polish look is so diversified that it is very hard to guess if you look just at the certain individual . But if you look at the group of Polish youths you can see some common features , for me it means rather slim and oval face with not strong but instead oval or pointy jaw with light eyes and hair , with mouth rather normal neither big nor small . If I was to compare Polish with British kids I would say that the main difference would be such that having protrusive eyes and teeth is a feature almost unseen among Polish and such feature happens among British as well as Dutch . Also red heads with pale skin are very rare among Polish almost unencountered .

Secondly this types of men and women which are so visible in GB after the year 2004 are rare now in Poland. The majority of them have left Poland . It is very true that they were loudy , bad-mannered I would say primitive , and since few years I `ve noticed a sharp decline of such people strolling around shopping centres in Warsaw . In the early 2000 I was almost haunted and intimidated by such look .

This trend of truck suit douchebags became popular in Poland in the early nineties , Now our society is very much changed . If you walk around any mall you will notice people dressed as any average European .

I am not talking about ladies , because they dress with better dress code as their counterparts from other parts of Europe . It is not only my perception.

In Italy or Spain the natives say that Polish women are perceived as classy and stylish in most cases very well dressed .

So . your statement just proves that you can`t determine northern European nationality just by their look , with Southern European it would be much easier ,because of the skin complexion
