Genealogy / Looking for Ania from Pod Jaszczurami Krakow on Saturday night. [5]

OK you're right. I like her. We had a connection and had real empathy for each other. That's why I want to find her. Of course, I wanna her see. I feel really weird about this thread. But on the hand "Faint heart never won fair maid". So I don't care if people laugh at me and think I'm mad for posting what I did. If I get in touch with her I'll be really happy. I know it's a long shot but you never know.

Travel / What to do in Katowice? (short journey) [9]

I was in Katowice on Monday with my ex girlfriend. The hotel EuroResidence was fine. We had spent the previous 2 weeks in Wroclaw, Krakow and Kalwaria.

Katowice is like Blade Runner. We went in the centre so Maja 3, Rynek, Plac Wolnosci. We were looking for some bars mentioned in Rough Guide like Bellmer, Archibar. There were closed for good or relocated. Couldn't find Hipnoza or La Grotta for food.

In the Rynek there were broken sewer pipes because of rebuilding. You have massive incredible buildings like Teatr Slaski. And you can this huge UFO looking building called the Spodek on the horizon from the Rynek.

So we couldn't find any bars or restaurants open only McDonalds and Subway in the rebuilt train station. There were homeless alcoholics, hooligans with german shepherds. And then we saw this 70 year old man with this beautiful 20 year old blonde Ukrainian prostitute in hot pants and a vest top. He was taking her to Krakow on the PKP train. And there were other girls in there selling themselves.

On top of that I've got the cold from hell. I pray to God the closest I ever get to Katowice is the airport.

Mtth please take my advice. Change the hotel bookings to Krakow. And spend some time in the Staro Miasto especially around the Ryenk. And spend some time in Kazimeirz. Go and see Wawel. If you go Katowice I promise it may put you off Poland for life.

Genealogy / Looking for Ania from Pod Jaszczurami Krakow on Saturday night. [5]

I wanna to get in touch with this girl I met in Klub Pod Jaszczurami in Krakow Rynek Glowny on Saturday 23th August at 2 a.m in the morning. Her name is Ania. She is 30 years old, single. She is about 165cm tall and weighs about 52Kg. She has brown eyes I think and her hair was coloured a dark blonde and pulled back in a pony tail. She told me she is a Steel saleswoman. She told me she lived in the Wielopole, Dietla area just outside the Planty. Just to the south east of the rynek. A ten minute walk.

She told me that she was hanging out with friends of her that arrived from Dublin and were staying the weekend. She said she lived with some housemates who were like 22/23 and it made her feel old.

I didn't get her contact details, I didn't ask. Because I was coming back to London on Monday. And I was with my ex-girlfriend.

I'm not some nutcase stalker. I just wanna speak to her again and become friends.
And I'm also heartbroken that I had to leave Krakow. And spend one night in Katowice and come back to London. I love Krakow so much. And Wroclaw too.

Real Estate / Accepting cash settlement from property inheritance in Poland? [4]

Two years ago my GFs father died. He died without making a will. So his estate was split three ways between his second wife (the first wife died), his daughter (my GF) and his son. The main asset was his half share of the house. The wife has offered my GF a settlment of 80,000 Zloty. But the wife only wants to pay in cash.

What is the legal score? There are the risks of robbery, theft, counterfeit notes. Not to mention the bank is forced to contact the police and tax office. My GF wants to accept an electronic bank transfer. She will consider a cheque or a bankers draft.

So what should she do?

Life / Good furniture shops in Poland? [11]

Hello, I'm looking for advice. In England I can buy good quality furniture in shops like John Lewis or Heals. In Poland there is IKEA. But I want stuff that will last. What shops can people recommend? Jak sie masz!
