News / Possible consequences of the Eurocup 2012 in Poland. [14]

Obvious ones are: tourists interest, money incoming cash-flow (opportunity for hotels, restaurants, pubs, shops, touristic places, taxis etc.), more info about the country in Europe (and potentially - more tourists in future), chance for Polish football to grow...

The same - about Ukraine!
& Ukraine needs it even more than Poland (Europeans know less about us).

History / Chance of Lwów once again became coming part of Poland [344]

I know that there were very dramatic periods in Ukraine-Poland relations.
The war is a great drama.

For modern Ukrainian the modern Pole is not an enemy.
Thanx, Media, for such pleasant words about our people!!
It s just great to "hear"! Really!

News / Russia says: WE'LL NUKE POLAND [150]

Guys, today~s reality is business interests. Slavic or non-Slavic who s gonna look?
Russia (and not only Russia) looks for interest. Gas, oil, finance, cars and so on.
Will the prices for "Slavic" be lower than for "non-Slavic"? No.
And why should they be?
It s market!
On the other hand it s unacceptable for me when Russia says: "if you (Ukraine - independent country!) choose this guy for a President you ll get lower price for gas, if that guy - the price will be higher".

Is it ok for anybody? Is it friendship. No.

News / Russia says: WE'LL NUKE POLAND [150]

Hi, all!
View from Ukraine: today~s Russia is certanly NOT a friendly contry for Ukraine.
We constantly have problems with their government. & we are against all kinds of alliances with them.
Russian policy is anti-Ukrainian & it s clear for us.
I hope, the situation there will change someday.
Russia must understand: Ukraine is independant country with its own way.
They talk about "friendship", but they want to have huge influence (political, social, economic etc.) on us - that s NOT friendship.
I repeat: their real intensions are so clear for us.

P.S. But I don t feel aggressive against Russian people! It s "state-to-state" relations.
On the other hand Russian media work...

P.S. As I see, you r Russian?
Mentality... What do you know about Cossacks & modern Ukrainians mentality?

I ve met many Poles & we had a good time!

I don t want to comment destructive & aggressive positions.
I admit that many Poles still think about Lviv as a city with Polish past - and why not (but don t forget also Austrian influence etc.).

But those who are crying for taking it back... Guys, it s really not interesting anymore.
Lviv is Ukrainian.
And those, who come to Lviv with peace - like friends - got peace & friendship.

But the next match is only next March.
On the other hand - there must be a friendly game Ukraine-Austria in Lviv this year.
Ah-h! It s only about 500 km! Write! )))
Best for you! )

Territory question is not easy. Not only UKR-PL. I understand. But you heard me.
What else do you want to hear? Choose yourself how to treat me.
I don t want to be your enemy.
My country started with Kyiv Rus - one of the greatest states of its time! But I don t want all the territory now back.

It was huge & it was long time ago.
Live today.

P.S. I am Ukrainian patriot. And i know what it is TO LOVE YOUR COUNTRY.
So, i don t want to hurt the feelings of the Polish patriot.
Let s try to communicate.

If you want - come and drink some beer with me.
If you want to talk about UKR-PL history - let s talk.
If you want our land - nobody is going to give it to you.

Yea, we have only 2 big Ukrainian-owned breweries: Obolon (Kyiv) & Persha privatna brovarnya (First private brewery) from Lviv.
This "Galicka korona" is brewed by PPB (Persha Privatna Brovarnya).
"1715" - is now Carlsberg...
Kyiv is great city! Think about it! )))

Oh! Lvivske is tasty! I prefer "Galicka korona" - also from Lviv.
Obolon is Kyiv-brewery (also nice). Magnat is their TM.
I like it also because it s Ukrainian brewery, not trans-national like many others here.
Hey! If you want to visit Kyiv on your way to Lviv - let s drink couple of glasses! )

)) Oh! You played vs Dnipro!
Western Ukraine is famous with the Carpathian mountains (i just love it!), old castles, kind and very patriotic people.
There you can feel real Ukrainian spirit.
Lviv is really "the must-see" in Ukraine! Old town with lots of unique buildings, cafes with amazing cofee and extra-tasty desserts.
+ Lviv beer is nice)))
Btw the prices are low there;)

I don t want to touch the tragic moments of our history now.
The Poles & the Ukrainians were very far from being close nations.
I understand.
About Yuschenko: he really did much to make our nations closer!
Trust me, i live here & i can assure you that he used Poland & the Poles as an example for us in many aspects!

But let s talk not about governments, but about real people.
As i said, we DON T know each other well enough.
Not many Ukrainians visit Poland and vica versa.
I love visiting Lviv (the last time - this March). People there have very good attitute to tourists from any country.
If you come with peace you shouldn t have any problems.
If not - you should be ready for unpleasant things. That s also true.

P.S. That s really just i-net opinions exchange. But that s also a way to learn what the other side thinks.

2 ironside
I was talking about PEOPLE (individuals), not states! That s FAR more important.
By the way, with our former President you (Poland & the Poles) got very good press here.
And the attitude to the Poles is not bad in Ukraine.
But "Lviv question" is not even a question in Ukraine!
Lviv is Ukraine. No discussion.

Guys, if we start looking F-A-R back into the history, we may see the Kyiv Rus with no Moscow etc. So, maybe it was & still is a "Great" "Big" "Large" Ukraine?

Let s live today! We have modern Ukraine. You have modern Poland. Russians have their modern Russia.
That s reality!
About LVIV: this city has long and uneasy history. It includes Polish, Austrian, Jewish, Georgian influence.
But it is UKRAINIAN city! And trust me (i am Ukrainian who lives in Kyiv and loves Lviv a lot!) - it is 100% Ukrainian city.

Some posts here look agressive. You really want to take our territory? But you realize that nobody will give it to you.
So, what do you want in fact? Do you really want confrontation?
I hope, you don t.
You, the Poles, have mostly good attitude here in Ukraine.
Don t loose it.
It s better to be friends.

History / What nation do Poles feel closer to? [74]

With former President (V. Yuschenko) the Poles & Poland got very good press!
Like brother-nation, example in many things for Ukraine & Ukrainians and so on.
Currently we have more press about Russia...
But real people have real ideas & real problems.
In fact, people know that our country have problems with Russia.
On the other hand Ukrainians have very little info about modern Poles & Poland.
You know, we need visas to visit Poland etc. ...
But the attitude to the Poles is mostly neutral - like to other nations.

History / What nation do Poles feel closer to? [74]

to hague1cmaeron:
Mostly, Ukrainians are kind people, so i don t think that Poles can be treated badly in other regions of our country.
I agree that many Poles visit Lviv, but not, for example, Kyiv! On my opinion, they loose a lot!
As for "pro-russian" - we do have partly pro-russian south and east and pro-ukrainian west and centre regions.
But far GREATER part of Ukrainians are so-o-o positive to all foreiners (i mean they feel warm to them)!
& Russia - is country #1 with whom we have problems! I mean their government s policy.
So, about Poland & the Poles: we really don t know each other well enough!

to grubas
? it s not constructive.
what land? i m not talking about history now.
i am talking about today.

i am really glad that Poles are such a great friends with Hungarians!
& i am not talking about replacing them - only about becoming friends.

What about Ukrainians - i am not talking about history now - what a modern Pole think about modern Ukrainian?
Here in Ukraine i see normal attitude to the Poles.
But how close/far we are?
I think we don t know each other well enough.
Not too many Poles visit Ukraine & not many Ukrainians visit Poland.
Our history is close and we had very tragical moments.
But i am sure that today we have a very good chance to become friends!
Let s not waste it.

Language / Polish/Ukrainian words similarities [209]

For Ukrainian & Pole it s easy to understand each other.
I ve met guys from Poland who didn t speak english, but UKR-PL mix was enough for a friendly talk )
We have LOTS of words that are not quite similar, but SO-O-O close!
Let s communicate more! )
P.S. But both our nations should speak english fluently now. That s a fact. We live in a global world.
& when some our (UKR) polititians talk about russian - i say: e n g l i s h - is "the must" today!

Polonia / Accommodations in Kiev, finding a suitable place to stay [7]

Hi, all!
I m from Kyiv & i wonder is Ukraine and especially Kyiv - a popular destination to the Polish travellers?
What do people think about our country?
I have been to your country (Krakow) & i loved it! People are very nice & the city is really interesting.
Also, i know that our Lviv is very popular among polish tourists. But what about Kyiv?
Best wishes! )
