Not really :) a few people had them but I steered clear. I did have the "American" style ice cream though.

Food / What's your favorite Polish beer? [870]

American beers give me a headache the day after so I steer clear

Yes, but how many different American beers have you tried? Maybe just the mass produced garbage. Need to try things like:
Impaled Ale
Long Trail Hibernator
Double Bastard Ale
Brooklyn Beer

I agree that some of Polands beer tastes better than our Budweisers, Coors and Millers, but we have hundreds more to choose from. Every state has one or a few micro brews.

...and of course the PL Vodka is absolutely the best...to get back to the topic. My homemade will be ready in a week. I can't wait because it's been over 5 mos :)

I've recently been drinking Zywiec porter. I'm starting to like these. Strong too :) I like lech Mocne. I was drinking a lot of these when I was visiting the Czarna Gora....Good stuff.

I will add a few Gdansk pics of my own: I think pictures give people that have never visited Poland a good idea of why they should visit. I'm hoping that some more of you will add some.

Shelley- Don't you have any?

Love / English Men vs Polish Men [207]

BEING POLISH AND A BIT SLOW U WOULDNT GET THAT !!!

Well, I'm not in Poland. I'm very familiar with my own language and people don't usually abbreviate They're with there because it makes no sense.

by the way you spelled understand incorrectly.

I hear the same. Very drab, grey many reminders of communism still remain. I experienced maybe 20 minutes of it total going from the train station to the airport...and getting ripped off by a taxi :) I was with my gf and she paid less going back to the trainstation from the airport than vise versa. Kooky taxy drivers. I just try not to speak....let her do all of the talking :)

I haven't noticed the smiling thing. Maybe some of the older folks. Maybe it's just my cuteness that made them smile :)

The most begging I've witnessed was in Gdansk. I was in Krakow in October so there weren't many beggers out at that time.

Life / Why are Poles always so miserable? Why do they never smile? [512]

If you think I'm writing nonsense then don't read it. Nobody's forcing you to.

I don't recall saying anything or responding to any of your posts..except for maybe 1. My comment was geared more towards the people that come here and feel the necessity to type BS in all caps with no explanation or validity to any of the posts. Like freddy. At least you'll stay and voice a valid opinion. Very few may agree but we're all different and do have other views on life. I think at some points I may be just as guilty by posting some 1 liners here and there...but hey, I'm bored at work sometimes.

What exactly is forcing you to stay if you're so miserable? Are you bound by child and wife?

Are you an American or something?

And what's wrong with being American anyway?

Yea, who the hell walks around with a smile except for people like Mr. Rogers(RIP), other happy go lucky folks, stoners and lads tripping on LSD?

Really? It's easily acquired in New Jersey. Why would it be so hard to find in Poland? have you ever tried Black Boss Porter? Exceptional porter. Also may be hard to find. Brewed in Witnica...wherever that is. I couldn't even locate it on a PL map. Highly recommended. 9.4%

Oh you're in Jersey? I can tell you exactly where to get it then. Let me know if you want info.

I really though that Zwiec was the best until I tried Bosman. Have you tried this? It may only be available in the north.

Has anyone here ever tried Gdanska Zlotówka? (the liquor with the gold flakes) I was just wondering if it's a vodka or something like Goldschlager?
