News / 10,000 ISRAELIS READY TO CLAIM FOR POLISH CITIZENSHIP AND POLISH LAND! [628]

I wonder what would John Paul II say on this issue?

Would anyone care to speculate?...

Some of the comments here are simply naiive and immature, let alone overly dramatic.

Let's RATIONALIZE for a moment...

As far as the issue of the "land", there are two areas:

1) CLAIMS of estates previously owned;
2) New INVESATMENT.

Re: CLAIMS..,
The claims will be resolved through courts , under the rule of applicable law, based on facts and evidence. Pure and simple judicial process. So whoever succeeds in recovering their family estate in this manner is absolutely entitled to it. End of story - Poland is a civilized nation and should maintain that status in all regards.

(Anyone against such fair judicial process wants to send Poland back into past, maybe even make it look like Turkey towards the Armenian people. The reaon Turkey won't admit to their crimes against Armenian people is because they would have to return properties to the rightful heirs)

Re: New INVESTMENT.
If Israelis want to invest their CAPITAL into Poland's real etate, how would that possibly be a problem?!.... Foreign investment has never hurt any country!.. It would only help Poland's economy.

I have lived in Los Angeles since 1985. There are many Israelis here (yes actual Israelis, not Americal Jews) and they do a great job enhancing the properties they own, both residential and commercial. The Israeli developers here have made great contributions to redevelopment and revitalization of many neigborhoods and helped turn many slums into thriving communities.

Don't forget, the owners pay property taxes based on property value, from which local governments provide services to its constitients. Would there be a problem if Israelis paid all the property taxes in Poland?...

Cheers!

History / Lwów, Wilno ... kresy - Poland have lost enormoust part of our heritage... [389]

Just think of Lwow as an "AMBASSADOR" of Polish culture and heritage on a special mission to the entire former USSR, and now Ukraine, spreading the richness of Polish culture...

I was born and grew up in Lwow in a family with strong anti-Soviet sentiments... I certainly used to feel that Lwow was on the wrong side of the border... But now, as a former citizen of Lwow under the USSR regime, and as an American (for almost 30 years), I really see Lwow as a sort of "Good Willl Ambassador of Poland" in Eastern Europe, serving as a cultural bridge between Poland and many cultures of the former USSR.
