UK, Ireland / Are Polish people moving back home from the UK? [68]

When will the Polish people be leaving UK.

Hard to say. Some leave when pound dive more to 1:4, some when they will fed up with low housing standards, dangerous streets, rain and mould. Many people have no choice. They sold their properties in Poland. Kids are in school. They know only English language and they are too old to learn another one. Of course it is much better to work in Germany because of distance, LHD cars, driving on the right side but there is small problem. Germans as well as French don't want to speak English. Norway is a small country with small market and Netherlands is dominated by Polish employment agency gangs.

When will they understand that we do not want them here.

They understand it very clear but they have no choice.

Love / Do Polish guys understand subtlety? [8]

Now having said that the culture of communication in Polish society is very direct. People are generally pretty blunt and say what they think.

I always thought that this is one of the advantages of West and life there is harsh but clear.

News / 10 year prison sentence for Polish lorry driver who killed 4 people while driving and using his mobile phone [90]

Trust me, it's very easy to get a stamp; I know two mechanics in Katowice

smurf trust me :) (I wound't say that to not instruct readers) the fact you have MOT or not doesn't matter because fines are low. When you have play on steering wheel or suspension it is more inconvinient for driver than goodbye with amount of money for fix it. Scenario when the control arm breaks is very rare. Much more dangerous are worn tyres that policeman can spot with naked eye. But budget cuts for the police is another story.

I'd like to see some proof of that because what I've read says the opposite

gazetaolsztynska.pl ;) Each week you can see new cars on the roof driven by reckless ladies in their 40 or young wolves in powerfull BMW. Speed this is the cardinal sin.

It's still possible to bribe the man that gives your car its yearly service stamp.... Polish equivalent of MOT

There are many kinds of truth ;) but it is almost impossible to get service stamp when something is wrong with suspension, brakes or windscreen has cracks. but#2 it isn't smart to waste money for bribe when you can say to the police "I have forgotten to pass MOT" Do not fear of the police. Fear of insurance company ;)

Polish people drive older crappier cars, thus more accidents..but it is changing thankfully

but more accidends do people in newer cars who are richer, reckless and don't care if they have to buy another car.

Do you live in Olsztyn? Are you Polish

Yes. I live in the beautiful city of Olsztyn. Somewhere between fifteen lakes.

Do you know the answers to 1 & 2?

Sorry. I don't know. See zielonalinia.gov.pl/temporary-residence-and-work-permit-41713

So I can buy a flat but not land and build a house? I think I read somewhere that I need to get a special permit/permission to buy land?

Yes you need to get a special permit/permission to buy land (especially agricultural land)

without permission you can buy a flat.

4. Am I able to open a bank account?

yes of course but not online. You need to visit a bank branch in person. They send credit cards etc to address in Poland.

5. Can I apply for a mortgage in Poland and use my home in Australia as security

Real Estate / Question about Czynsz (Building maintenance fees/utilies) in Poland [129]

I do not care if the "management company" is buying land, I do not need it, and not requested it.

Can you understand that the membership in spoldzielnia is voluntary? You want to be a member or not. It is free will. Don't count others people money. You do not care if they buying land. They don't care you become a member.

Real Estate / Question about Czynsz (Building maintenance fees/utilies) in Poland [129]

if a building is painted once every 10 years, and you pay 500 zl for building painting every month (which means 6000 zl every year, 60,000 zl every 10 years), you are probably mentally ill or severely damaged, or simply you are working for a "real estate management" company

Typical western point of view :) I worked for "real estate management" company and I tell you that you can always ask in the source I mean their office what czynsz is in your building. Then you can agree or not. My real estate has almost 40000 members divide it by flats and buildings. Czynsz here is from 300 to 650 and in the worst scenario czynsz in Warsaw near 1000zl pcm is possible. Company not only maintenance present buildings but save money for future investments. They try to buy a land, build new houses, connect old blocks to heating grid, install solar panels. Do you know how much cost 1km of 300mm diameter twin pipeline? One heating hub in the basement of the one block cost about 80000zł multiple it by buildings you can see in the estate. When you sign your membership contract there is line "I want join cooperative" no one force you. If you dont want a flat for 200 000zl with czynsz build your own house for 500 000 - 1million zl and no one ask you for czynsz. You will pay a tax about 300zl per year.
