Work / Salary, holidays - questions to employer during a job interview in Poland [47]

before to answer they told me after 3 months the salary will get higher if they decided to hire me definitely

Be careful and don't trust them too much! It is common practise to say after 3 months still 1600zl or man you didn't meet expectations, goodbye :/

Study / A Portuguese student wants to study in Poland [10]

In research I saw that I can rent a room to pay 250pln. Is it realistic?

Olsztyn is several times smaller than Wrocław and 250pln sounds unrealistic here. Rather 350zł and 4 people in the flat ~ 1200zł - 1400zł pcm

and food?

minimum 20zł per day

Law / Requirements for Motorbike Instructor in Poland [8]

I was told that A+B had to be done and that there was no way that A could be done without having a B licence.

You can be cat A instructor without having a cat B instructor licence.
You can do cat A instructor licence without doing a cat B instructor licence.

is it possible to just do the Instructor TEST without having to do the course ?

I don't think so because of the minimum amount of training hours requirement.

Life / Do expats living in Poland speak Polish? [233]

As for Poland being user friendly to expats, I've read on many threads how the UK accomodates Poles ie. sending a few policemen on training courses, having the most commonly used official handouts in Polish etc. Even some roadsigns in Polish.

They want do their job better. Improve and develop their skills to meet new needs. If there is rain of Martians, policemen will be learning marsjański. I admire that.

and all the people working in government departments in Poland learn to speak English.

No office babcias are going to learn English when in their country|castle|kingdom ;)

Law / Company bank account in Poland - can a company use a personal bank account? [11]

they want me to transfer the funds into a personal bank account. They say this is normal business practice in Poland. I am not so sure.

They can have one mandatory official business bank account (Wroclaw Boy pointed why not disclosed) and several personal bank accounts.

Language / popełnić (extended usage)? [5]

Coupla years ago I heard a Polish teenager say "muszę popełnić wypracowanie".

It is slang and popełnić means do or buy

-Chłopaki zobaczcie co Piotrek popełnił.
-Wow, wypasionego nowego paska (vw passat)

Work / Looking for information on Polish AF Pay [10]

and one of the moderators just posted a message explaining that the website you quoted only uses the Polish language

hmm so if they refuse help once I can't help you susan. I'm interested in aviation only very superficial.

Interesting since it's an aviation forum and we, the pilots, speak English wherever we fly

Indeed. Didn't expected that but when they want stay closed let it be.

Love / I love my Polish girl! Wanted to share my story. [55]

rtz

it's mine :)

I wouldn't like to count disadvantages of living there so let's look on bright side.

Norway - beautiful nature, crystal water, forest, rich country, small population.
Sweden - small population, it's only 200km from home ;)
Germany - ordnung, only 200km from home ;)
France - they know how to live, art, architecture
Spain - sun, sea, warm water

England - relatively easy language to learn, understanding of native speakers.

Love / I love my Polish girl! Wanted to share my story. [55]

My family are still a problem, they seem to have it in there head she is only coming for the money, does not love me, sees a chance for a good life in England.

You can assure your family that majority of Poles consider England as the worst place to live in Europe.

Language / udać, udać się "confusion" [5]

"udało mi się" I presume means "I managed to", but I'm unsure what "udało się" or even "udać się" used with a noun means.

Ciasto udało się wyśmienicie.
(cake)

Impreza udała się znakomicie.

Wonder how much a dish installation costs in Poland

I take 200zl - 250zl max, commute up to 20km radius. In case of more difficult installation I don't increase the price or refuse.

Life / How reliable are Internet connections/wifi in Gdansk? [4]

how easy is it to find a good wifi connection? Are there lots of cafes, etc. that offer it (even paid)?

There is a list of hotspots in Gdańsk.
tinyurl/ybtvhxy

dostęp płatny = paid
dostęp bezpłatny = for free
brak danych o odpłatności = unknown

Majority is paid. I think it will be hard to find reliable wifi for free.

You can buy Era gsm TAK TAK prepaid simcard and use your mobile phone as a modem.
price is 50zł pcm and 500 MB limit. Better than nothing :/
