UK, Ireland / Polish smugglers caught and jailed [10]

cigarettes are very expensive here in the UK, so I buy them from a local grocery store that has them smuggled from Poland

You may politely advice him that cigs smuggled from Lithuania and Russia are even cheaper. They have "kurenie ubivaet" on the pack.

Language / Short Polish<->English translations [1033]

I'm living in London at the moment and I would like to translate a couple useful phrases
(but not to lose an exact meaning):

Ty stara krowo zdejmij giry z siedzenia.
You old cow take your limbs from a seat off please.

Is this correct? ;)

Work / Information about jobs for Indian students in Poland [286]

Are there good chances of getting employment in IT even if I would not be knowing good polish?

I think no one will expect that you be able speak Polish at all. They hire you because of your IT not language skills. No one will wait for your Polish improvement. IT guys usually speak perfect English.

Work / Information about jobs for Indian students in Poland [286]

My question is that will I get enough paying job initially within 3-4 months so that I can survive there.

Why are you asking us? Ask your future employer. Everything above 5000zl netto will help your plan come true.

Law / Stopped by the Poland's Police for no reason while walking at night [94]

and suddenly the police car stopped and one of the officer came to us asking for IDs I asked him why

You played it all wrong. Never talk to police. Never discuss first. Answer yes no only. In Poland we have IDs and police has a power to ask for ID zillion times a day.

Language / Caring/loving words in Polish? [90]

"Zawsze twój misia" correct?

No. Incorrect.

Zawsze twoja misia or misiunia or zawsze twój misiaczek.
Misia and Miśka may be mistaken as diminutive of a female name Michalina

You may change an animal and say Zawsze twój kotek ;)

Travel / How available is internet/wifi in Poland? [24]

Last time I connected to the Internet at the hotel, I had a lot of spam on my computer

Spam doesn't depend of internet connection.

Best solution is to have own gsm router and buy a sim card only. Or have a phone plan that uses local WiFi, eg. Google FI.

Po polsku / Dlaczego uczysz się Polskiego? [101]

Natomiast mowa, słowo poszło w eter i przepadło, czas minął. Jeśli obcokrajowiec mówi niewyraźnie to mamy problem.

Law / Highway Code equivalent in Poland? [7]

The moose might be a bit of an exaggeration

It depends where. In Masuria we had a couple scary collisions with moose recently. Poor moose always dead on the scene.

but I did have a wild boar and her litter cross the road in front of me once.

I had collision with wildboars. Time 23:55. Speed was 75km/h. One wildboar dead on the scene one wounded, eight intact. Fire brigade. Police. Waiting two hours in the cold car. Every 15 minutes filing up the coolant due to a serious radiator leak. 110km from home. Cost 2ooozł without painting. Bumper, bumper bar, lamps, radiator, radiator fan, timing belt cover, bonnet, intake manifold, air filter housing.

From this time I never ever drive in the night. Choćby skały ...
