Travel / Which cities in Poland are nice to visit [80]

Zamosc is a very nice place within the old walls. It also has a nice Park with red squirrels.Usually something going on in the main square.

Chelm, not far away is also interesting with its maze of old tunnels under the town. There are guided tours of these and hard hats are provided.

As previously stated,Krakow is a must.A bit touristy, but plenty to see and do.Plus the nearby salt mine, which is an amazing place.Go early as it is very popular. Then move on to Zakopane for the mountains, cable car and funicular.Buy the local smoked sheeps cheese-yummy.

Travel / Recommendations for a 4-6 days visit in Poland in February '17 [14]

You should try Zakopane, which is a well known resort in the Tatras.Plenty to do there with ski lifts, cable car and funicular.Horse drawn sleighs for the romantic(dress up warm).Regular train services from Warsaw and Krakow if you do not like driving in the snow. Also Express bus service from next to Krakow Glowny rail station in Krakow.Plenty of choice of accommodation.Think there is still an open air thermal pool just up the road from Zakopane rail station. There is also an open air market for all sorts of goods with great Polish sausage barbecues.Think you would enjoy it.

News / Polish Domination by Germany [69]

Still, we are not witnessing domination here. It's as simple as that ;)

Domination can be very insidious. How many Polish companies are owned,or part owned by German companies. They are in Poland now on the railways, both freight and passenger pushing PKP out of the picture a little at a time.Do they have an interest in LOT?-Maybe.The German Banks and investment companies are moving in to control the money.Where possible they take over farmland.Just think about it-they are getting into all ways of Polish life, and you do nothing. What has happened to the Polish Eagle.

So yes,I think you are slowly being dominated, but are frightened to see it!

You believe in astrology then-or perhaps the will of God.I doubt if anyone has a hotline to there!
I think you are rather naive if you think Merkel will let you keep the zloty-all of Greater Germany must be uniform-or else!!!

Do not believe everything that the Polish Minister of Finance says-he only stays to the party line.
Who is going to start a war if everyone has no money?-just scaremongering tactics.
Of course, the Turks may have a devious plan..........

The pressure to change from zloty to Euro(if it survives) will be soon so that domination can be complete.
Emperess Merkel has to dominate as it is the only way to keep such a diverse number of countries under her thumb.
The only difference is that the Russians used Tanks-she uses fiscal means.Which has the same outcome in the end.
So either start the German lessons or rid yourselves of Tusk. There may still be time.

Travel / Whats your favourite Polish city and why? [132]

Krakow is a favourite with me-to sit in the rynek drinking a Zywiec on a nice day watching life go by-and the beautiful girls!-is bliss. There is plenty to do there, day or night. However,it suffers from its popularity and in the summer the traffic there-and parking- is hell on earth.Almost as bad as Warsaw.I like to go upriver a few kms and walk along the river banks to the Monastery-much more peaceful-even better with female company.

Zakopane used to be a great place, but is now spoilt by heaving masses of tourists and commercialism. The Tatras are great though and there are still lovely villages if one searches them out.

I think my favourite relatively unspoiled town is Zamosc. It has a beautiful rynek surrounded by rather unique architecture and ofter in summer there are events going on in front of the town hall.Just outside the walled inner town is a nice park with lake which is really nice summer or winter. It even has red squirrels in the trees!

Somebody suggested the south-east of Poland-definitely! Although there are no cities.I suppose Sanok is the largest place but does not have much going for it apart from the open air skansen which is excellent.

What do you all think of Poland becoming a part of the new Greater Germany under Emperess Merkel due to the Euro crisis.
Perhaps you may also think that losing the zloty for the Euro is not such a good idea.Perhaps the UK has done the best thing after all!

Soon all your money will be gone feeding the Greeks and Italians,et al.-while Merkel dines in splendour.
