It just isn't the same anymore...the only ones who still "feel the spirit" of the Cold War are the Chinese, who still seem to believe producing winners and records en masse in their children-torture-camps is somehow winning them international respect and sympathy! 🙄

Hmmm....that doesn't work here Rich.

The Nazis, once in power, made sure to be seen as a civilized society so they made laws allowing for the most atrocious crimes being totally lawful...the Nuremburg Race Laws for example.

The GDR made it lawful to shoot people trying to flee over the wall into the back....

A Turk wanting to become a Chancellor in Germany has to be more German than a native....not a chance for a turkish identity!

It's abit like with Merkel....she never, during all her 16 years in power, has done sh'it for East-Germany....Germans totally forgot about her eastern german upbringing. For the integration of East Germany she was a total loss!

The moment someone is seen as "breaking the barrier" for his or her minority he/she looses all the chances to become the leader of all Germans...*shrugs*

For a leader, a Chancellor in Germany, he needs to be seen as a unifier for ALL Germans, not a presenter of a sex or a skin pigmentation or a heritage or some identity or the other....I doubt Germany will ever work that way. Just my personal opinion.

What I found worst was that german soldiers where judged for following orders. The german army was the first and only army where that was made out to be a crime....and it was done by the allied victors....whose own soldiers of course were never allowed to deny orders either.

Now that hypocrisy is mind boggling!

There was that kid from my 'hood Chris Gueffroy (20)...the last murdered "Republikflüchtling" only nine months before the wall fell....

Does that mean a secretary who never killed somebody in her whole life is more guilty than the soldier who personally shot a refugee in the back?

And that such a border soldier is somehow NOT an accessory to murder and oppression? After all what was the wall build for in the first place again? And how many had been imprisoned and killed over the years by the regime?

I doubt that is meant with hate crime....

In my opinion its about that someone becomes a victim ONLY for being what he is....a black guy get's killed only for being black for example...actually a woman being raped is for me a hate crime too by a man hating women....that this doesn't count as hate crime too is puzzling!

Not a robbery for money or such "more common" crimes with other goals...no...someone is hurt for being what he or she is....otherwise he or she would still be alive and unhurt....

It can also mean a white male being killed by a black guy....or a man being raped by a woman.....only that such things happen much more rarely...

I would agree....any crime under the influence of drugs is no hate crime...

We have had a similiar case in Germany....the murder of mainly immigrants in a town called Hanau....the culprit first killed his mother and is a certified nutter (paranoid schizophrenic), but because of the heritage of his other victims it was called and treated as a hate crime against foreigner!

On the other hand.....an asylum seeker from Somalia kills 3 women with a knife in Würzburg....the media never talked about a hate crime against women...but a mentally disturbed sick man with a traumatic past...

Yeah....such things aren't judged with a blind eye as it should be!

Hmmm....is someone calling somebody a "parasite" already a hate crime or just him utilizing free speech?

But I would agree.....dehumanizing someone verbally could be for some already unbalanced individual the first step to actually commit a hate crime....it's a slippery slope, always has been.

I disagree....also the Somali had to plan his murders....he had to organize himself a knife...he had to look for transport into Würzburg....he searched for women to kill.

The Hanau murderer started his killing spree with his own mother...who was not an immigrant at all...where does that fit into a hate crime?

For the murdered women from Würzburg there was no "Say their names" action in the media with photos and orbituaries and lengthy interviews with the families....

The treatment of the victims was as different because of the identity of the murderers..no expert had a say in that but Zeitgeist!

I personally find that extremely unfair and plain wrong. As if native german victims count somewhat less....

Nothing new for a German! That's what we get told whenever there is some wondering why we have to pay so massive to everybody else to support their economies, their poor, their whatever whereas we have so many own problems and will never get any support from them....

Latest examples supporting the rent systems of Greeks and Italians....both countries whose population is comparable richer than Germans (more residential property etc.)
