News / Heavy storm / tornados cause chaos and flooding in Poland [23]

My good friend and name-sake who is in Bemowo just logged off and never mentioned this but I'll text her and see what she says. Other wise I hope someone else can give you an answer.

Cheers for the info.

Work / From the USA, is it hard to study in Poland? [44]

Have to agree with zetigrek. Get your education in the USA and you'd be better off if you choose to work elsewhere.

If you want to experience university in Poland then do some course after you graduate college in the US or take a gap year or something.

Work / The qualifications of a Polish doctor [10]

I think maybe lekarz medycyny is correct but Dr is more common getting.

I got my qualification in the UK so can I use these letters in PL or not?

MB ChB MRCGP DRCOG DCH MSc

They all come after my name as in Dr Technika MB ChB MRCGP DRCOG DCH MSc

Travel / Poland-My 9-day experience [239]

Hmm AussieSheila I think you took a whistlestop tour through the country and saw nothing. 9 days is too little time to see the places you visited and see them effectively. You've missed a lot and probably spent too much time on the road or rail travelling.

I'd urge you to return to Poland but put less on your schedule and spend time visiting and appreciating Polska.

The architecture in PL is beautiful but if you're comparing it to Australian architecture it's completely different so comparison is no good.

There is much in Poland that needs improved and many will agree with that but Poland has been growing onwards and upwards in the last 20 years.

All I can say is that it is sad your experience of Poland was so poor but I don't think you experienced it at all.

Food / WHY IN POLAND PEOPLE DON'T USE ICE? [142]

Sledz, Brits all have bad teeth like all Americans are fat...

I've never had trouble getting ice in my drink in Heathrow or any other airport in UK or Europe so maybe you just annoyed the guy huh? Why do want so much ice in your drink anyway? Need it watered down a bit?

I think Wroclaw Boy is right you mean pot roast rather than boiling beef. Pot roast is as popular in the USA as it is in UK. Besides, what is wrong with succulent meat? Who likes eating tough meat?

Oh and about the ice again. Its use in Poland is widespread. I never have a cold drink without it.

Love / A Polish womans relationship with her mother in law. [44]

Lots of good advice.

I think it's right that the problem belongs with the son.

Polish women can actually be very close to their mothers in law depending on family situation. They often rely on each other. True for many nationalities I suspect.

UK, Ireland / Polish workers humiliated at the Laurens Patisseries - protest [45]

Enkidu you won't get anywhere with this protest. It's not against the law. I'm sure if the workers had said to the manager that they wanted to take 2 minutes to observe the deaths in Saturdays tragedy the manager would have obliged but to ask an entire company to halt production is crazy. To stop machines, delay drivers and sellers. Too much.

Kaczynski's death is sad as is that of his wife and the many others but for many life must go on. There is no other way.

Genealogy / Last name Sapeta [44]

You're saying I'm stirring but I've been here and not seen post you claim you've seen. All I know is you're not helping people at all. Let those who seek Russian translations do it on appropriate sites. Leave PF to the PL/Eng.

Genealogy / Last name Sapeta [44]

What? Aurelia's post is not even on PF. If it was I would have helped myself.

What is your issue? This is an English language site. That's not hard to understand so all I can see is you hampering people who really want to find out about Sapeta.

Apologies. You must hate when us tech types don't get what you're simply wanting quick enough. On that note - still looking for the one from Aurelia to help with.

Genealogy / Last name Sapeta [44]

Error message? If you mean error message when I was trying to send a PM it had nothing to do with it. My internet connection timed out (was in a coffee shop while posting from lap top).

Nah it was probably to do with lack of posts from Oleg. Someone tried to PM when I only made one post and they were given error message. Stop trying to be a hero to someone who will post here once. Forum rules say English and everyone else gets that. You're just tying to cause trouble and in doing that you're deflecting from the people who want to know about Sapeta surname.

Where is Aurelia? Can't see her post please a link. Ta much. :)

UK, Ireland / Are polish girls in the UK cheap (to hire?) [35]

go as far to say as i would marry one before a scottish girl due to the vile you hear coming out of young scottish girls mouths these days.

Well I know nice Scottish girls who never swear. It may be the company you keep ;)
Don't imagine for a second that there aren't Polish girls out there who have the same way of bad talking because there are so maybe if you don't speak Polish you don't realise this.

Polish or Scottish there is nice and bad. That's the way it is.
