Sobieski is my favorite Polish vodka. Belvadere in my opinion is overhyped. I find Chopin to be much better than belvadere.

Wojewodzic. Apparently, here is the meaning of it. I got it from wikipedia

In medieval Poland a Palatyn (Palatinus) was initially the highest title at the King's court. Later, every local Prince had his own Palatinus, often the actual ruler of a Duchy. With the partial reunification of the Kingdom the ducal Palatini remained in their place and ruled the former Principalities (now renamed to Palatinates, Palatinatus) under the King. The title got merged with that of Wojewoda (Dux Exercituum, Herzog). A son of a Palatinus was titled Wojewodzic (Palatinida) and would often become a Palatinus at his father's death, but these titles never became officially hereditary and formally remained granted for lifetime by the King. Today, the palatinal families (rodziny wojewodzińskie, descendants of the Palatini), remain the highest strata of Poland's aristocracy.

Genealogy / I'm polish and have a darker complexion - WHY? [78]

I noticed the same thing. My moms side of the family is like that. They actually look more tan and a bit Mongol. I know, its wierd. They have tan skin, black head hair, the men are not hairy, and have dark brown eyes. My dads side is more pale, blue eyes, light brown hair and a lot hairier. I'm somewhere in the middle.

I see Poland improving, and going towards the right direction. However, they still have some problems to fix along the way. Salaries and infrastructure are one of the problems.

I recently tried grilling it, and it was amazing stuff. Usually, my family just boils it, which is still very good, but grilling is the best way. :D

History / What do Polish people think about Belorussians? [38]

I've met a few. Very decent, nothing bad about them.

My father knows 2 Belorussians at his work and he says they are great and they say good things about Poland and Polish people.

Same thing with Ukrainians. The ones I met were great. When they found out I was Polish they were happy and many of them spoke Polish really well, and I was impressed.

Belorussians and Ukrainians, from my experience, are much better than Russians. Most Russians I have met in my life were just downright rude and cold.

Law / GDP or GDP per capita - what's more accurate number in Poland? [10]

hey guys. I'm no economist. But I was reading that Poland has the 15th largest GDP in the world, or something like that. But their GDP per capita is low, only like 16,000. What is more accurate, GDP or GDP per capita? Just wondering.

As all countries, Poland is not, has not and never will be a perfect country - however, open up your eyes to the past achievements of Poland and you will be proud sooner than you think.

I understand what you are saying. Maybe I should crack open a history book or two. Sorry if I sound ignorant lol. But thanks for your advice.

I have fair skin and I am quite tall (183cm)

Same thing with my family. All the women on my dads side of the family are over 5'11". I'm 6'1" so I'm not that much bigger!

I'm mainly Polish and 1/8 German. I don't look Polish at all lol. Most of my friends tell me I look English/Scottish or just Canadian. The only thing about me which looks Polish is my bright blue eyes, thats about it. I don't have high cheekbones or defined facial features. My face is a bit round and I don't have a aquiline nose or anything. I also have dark dark brown head hair and my facial hair is orange/blonde, which is kinda odd considering my head hair is dark brown.

I don't think most will take it well. Its not like I hate Poland. There are things about Poland I love, but at the moment I am not too proud. I'm from Canada by the way.

Hello everyone!

I found a forum with Polish people on it which is good. There are almost no Polish people in my school so I think this website will be good :) I am new to this site and I hope I am following the rules as of now. I also hope this post is in the right section (culture and society).

Now guys. Please don't flame me. But as of now I am not too proud of being Polish and its bothering me and I don't like it. I know I may sound stupid, but what's bothering me is that Poland is being run by a bunch of idiots. The economy is not great and all my relatives who live in Poland always ***** and complain on how bad it is over there (low salary, high costs for food etc). They always tell me how the roads and buildings are poor and how they wanna leave because its so bad over there. Its strange because All of my friends, whether they are Italian, Romanian, Czech, Greek, Swedish, French, they are all proud of their nationality but I'm not and I hate it. It really frustrates me when you see Italy, Greece, France and the UK having all those beautiful and historical sites and people visiting them but with Poland its like nobody gives a **** because its not as flashy as those other Western European countries. I'm feeling pretty down and maybe you guys can enlighten me. If you guys want to call me an idiot or a moron, thats fine. I understand if you guys are upset or angered by this.
