Law / Buying a car in Poland for export [48]

Will there be license plates on the car when I buy it?

Preferably, I would drive the car from the dealer to a friend's garage until I will be back in PL.

Are there such a thing as temporary and/or export license plates?

Law / Buying a car in Poland for export [48]

I am currently in Warsaw for the next 2 weeks and I have found a car which I would like to buy and export back to DK. The car is situated in an Auto Komis.

How should I go on about this situation? Which papers should I get from the dealer?

Do I need to get new temporary license plates when I buy the car here, or can I just drive it home on the ones that are on the car?

How about insurance until I get back to DK?

Thanks in advance
Kenneth

Work / Quality of IT educations (Computer Science) in Poland vs. other countries [11]

This is the exact reason why I wrote I will admit to Polish language courses once I get there. The reason I asked how I did is that I dont expect to be able to speak Polish from the first day I get there and preferably I would start studying within the first few months after moving to Warsaw.

Work / Quality of IT educations (Computer Science) in Poland vs. other countries [11]

I just came back after 4 weeks in Warsaw. One of the last days I was in Warsaw, I had to buy a busticket since the one I had was expired.

I went to four different gas stations / shops and was unable to buy a new one :/ I even tried to point at my old ticket and the employee would just say "nie".

This episode was a little frightening to me because it is such a simple thing and yet I was unable to manage in that situation.

I found that my girlfriend's friends was uncomfortable at best while speaking English and soon came back to speaking Polish together.

It pleases me to know that you believe otherwise Andrei. I know a tourist-level of German so I have that as a backup, although I am unsure how beneficial it is in Warsaw (probably more in Poznan).

Work / Quality of IT educations (Computer Science) in Poland vs. other countries [11]

Hi all,

I'm currently living in Denmark and studying Computer Science here at the university. I am considering moving to Poland once I finish my bachelor degree to take my masters degree in Warsaw, as I have a girlfriend in Warsaw.

Does anyone know how the quality of the educations at Polytechnika Warszawska is or how it compares to DK/more western countries?
I have spent about 6 weeks in Warsaw this year and it surprises me how bad the Polish youth is at English in general. What are your thoughts about me coming to Warsaw to study, not knowing Polish?

If I decided to do it, I would take language courses, but I believe it will take quite some time before I can understand/speak Polish.

Best regards

Travel / Nice restaurants in Warsaw [30]

Hi all,

Thank you for all your answers.

Its funny you should mention Essence and Sense. I was at Sense the first time I was in Warsaw (about 6 months ago) and my girlfriend used to work at Essence, so I'll not be going there.

Sounds like its worth going to ul. Chmielna though ;)

Travel / Nice restaurants in Warsaw [30]

Hi all,

Im going to Warsaw in April and would very much like to hear from you, if you know of any good restaurants there.
I like small, cozy places - especially ones that have some sort of theme. I have only been to Sphinx and it was not really good in my taste.

I would like it to be a place where you could either have a good pasta or some beef.

Any ideas appreciated :-)

Best regards
Kenneth

Travel / Warsaw next week - ideas? [5]

Hi all,

I was in Warsaw for a couple of days this summer and met a girl which I am going to visit next week. I was wondering if any of you had any ideas for things we should go and see?

She has been living in Warsaw for about a year now, so I guess she hasn't seen all of it - but probably all the most common things.

Best Regards
