Work / Are there any Americans teachers left in Poland? [38]

I didn't come here because of a woman.

Yes you did. The only reason why English men go to Poland is to teach English and teachers know that they have open access to many women who want to learn English. The fact that you repeat your denial twice in two lines says it all.

be handed back to the rightful owners), you have destroyed most of your towns and cities architecture-wise (what's with the drab concrete bunkers-with-tiny-windows that constitute a major part of your "modern" architecture? Lots of them all over - central London and council estates alike), and there is not much good

In fact, you are right. We went through a lot of post war redevelopment where we had to rebuild major British cities very quickly. Poland did the same thing but for us it was unnessary because we had to help out the Poles who were simply unable to stand up to Hitler in 1939. Remember, Hitler did not want war with England, it was only the Eastern Question he wanted to involve himself with. A very sad state of affairs because we could and should have stood back and let him get on with it.

As for me, I have come to love and respect Poland a lot more since moving abroad. Not that there is anything inherently wrong with other countries, but out of all the idiocies of the world I most prefer the idiocies I grew up with. Amen :-)

In that case, you have obviously moved to the wrong place! There is nothing for me in horrible Poland and the weather is horrible and everybody is dishonest. The Poles moan all the time about the Russians, even though the Russians did everything for little Poland. The Poles love complaining all the time and are a very jealous people. Under Communism they were never happy and everything was Churchill's fault. Now they are free all they want is free council houses in England. The German should stand trial for war crimes. Who gave them permission to bring down the wall. Ask me,I would make the Germans rebuild it-every last brick and stone. my beautiful country is now poisoned with Poles and I have never even been asked.

s some credence to your comment about expectancy lowering, but your comment about most people dying below 50 is complete cobblers.

Yes, but I have to make my comments flowery, otherwise nobody is going to maker a return comment. Mind you, some years ago, I have friends who lived in Gdansk and their house was located just across the street from the city's main grave yard. As there is nothing to do in Gdansk I would spend much time walking around it looking at the various graves. I was amazed at the number of dead young men lying there. Row after row of men in their forties, already much younger than I was at the time. It looked more like a military cemetery than an open town grave yard. It struck me then that there was obviously something really wrong with Poland and their life style.

No, health care in Poland is very poor. That is why most people die in Poland before they are fifty. It is a well known fact that life expectancy is still falling in Poland. Life is very short in the country from both cancer and strokes. Strokes are caused by stress as well as the smoking.

It is interesting to read the comments from the British public as to why they love Poland. The comments always seem to be superficial and very complimentary. It would be interesting to note the comments the Poles would have about England. Probably much more down to earth and practical 'I love England because I have a free council house in Slough and what's more, there is enough room for my builder's van as well as for my car off road. I love the free state schooling and the health care is second to none. My wife has dropped three children since we moved to England and the National Health Service has not charged us a single penny for all their hard work. Free schooling for the first eighteen years and free health provision from the cradle to the grave. What more could one ask for'. These naive English people want to visit Poland and try and depend on the Polish welfare state and see the reaction then. All this romantic nonsense about lovely fields and smiling folk-of course they smile, after all, you are there to spemd your money after opening up your wallet!

News / Polish Mom claims daughter got pregnant from swimming in pool! [162]

As far as I am aware, human sperm is rather like the AIDS virus in the sense that it can not survive outside of the human body. Any male sperm in a swimming pool would be dead anyway. however, with most Poles pretty poor it would seem a good way to try and earn some free cash from a Muslim society. The Poles are very clever at exploiting other people's weaknesses.

News / Polish Mom claims daughter got pregnant from swimming in pool! [162]

It is common knowledge that all Polish girls are very free when it comes to men. She obviously slept with an Arab and is pregnant. To hide her guilt, she has lied to her mother about the swimming pool incident. After all, how many thirteen year old girls want to admit to a Roman Catholic Polish cow that she is already a slut?!!

I Love Poland cuz of the Friendly people(but there are still some Drunks that can be annoying that times.. i'd prefer British Drunks than Polish Drunks... more fun! ;D)

They are very two faced though. Friendly they may seem but try not to pay for their initial kindness and you will soon see another side to these so called friendly Poles.

atractive turist place. Ch

No, it is not a great tourist destination and never has been. I think it was always a con myself. Margaret Thatcher had the right idea and kept them out! So the silly Poles made the Brits get visas too for as long as we required the Poles to get visas here. However, the situation was quite different because all the Poles are not interested in culture, literature or history-they only want to work illegally! Why should all westerners pay for a silly visa and then, add insult to injury, they have to make official currency exchanges for each day of their stay in rat infected Poland. The Poles are not walking around London with cameras in their hands taking photos, rather they are serving up coffee in Costa Coffee for five pounds an hour! The situation is totally dissimilar and I think that now Poland is in the E.U they should agree to pay money back to the West for all the money they stole from genuine foreign guests. I am not anti Polish myself of course, but every time I see all these new roads and airports built with dirty money extracted from foreign guests and I want to explode. Hitler was probably right when regarding the Polish question.

Life / Why Do You Love Poland? [907]

I went to the south of Poland in a rented car a few years ago. It was very nice because I could travel over the frontier and see a little of the Czech Republic. I must be honest and say that it was a great experience and I would like to go back yet one more time and see even more. I did not like Poland very much but the Czech Republic looked 'pretty cool'. The world is a big and interesting place so why detain yourself to just one rather dull corner of Europe? I say, go for it!

USA, Canada / To move back to Poland from the USA or not to move back....that is the question [119]

From personal experience happiness is hard to find here, the day to day life here drags me down big time.

Presumably you are a Brit living in Poland. Yes, your opinions about Poland and the life there would be interesting. In the Summer time it can be nice from a 'visit' point of view but I know that the mentality is very strange there. People seem to think that I am weird on this forum for not wanting to live in Poland but why are the streets of every British town and city overcrowded with Poles if Poland is so wonderful? Why do ex Polish builders prefer to work as hospital cleaners in England if life is so wonderful and perfect over there? There are also so many Poles who support Poland and the culture of Poland yet they are living in Australia, America or Canada. Why? When there was Communism in Poland everything was England's fault and the fault of Churchill. 'Churchill sold Poland to Stalin' was the only slogan I ever heard from the Poles then but free council houses in Epping is the call of the day now!! A lot of hippocrits through and though if you ask me. After all, take both Hitler and Stalin. Both men, both European, both political leaders and both hated the Poles at the same time in history even though they both stood at opposite ends of the political spectrum. Come on now, two political geniuses living at the same time can not both be wrong!

USA, Canada / To move back to Poland from the USA or not to move back....that is the question [119]

f Canada, I burst out laughing...oh god..

Canada is near and I would certainly chose Toronto over a horrible concrete city like Warsaw any day of the week. It always seems to me that Americans have a problem being who they are. I remember being in Poland in Kraków one summer and I met a lot of Americans and they were always very quick to identify themselves with their past and with other countries with which they had absolutely no contact. 'Yes, I am an American, but I am a quarter Irish', for instance. If this person is living in America and wants to 'return' to Poland he may have to complete his national service should he hold a Polish passport. There are a lot of things to consider here. I have come to the conclusion that people are strange the whole World over be it America or Poland.

Life / Why Do You Love Poland? [907]

I love Poland because of its capacity. Its silence, its rhythm, its acceptance, its dreams and its tolerance. I Love Poland because of its vast majorities mentality. I love Poland because of its towns... I love Poland because of its villages. Because of its lakes, mountains, sea, soil, trees, grass and wind...

This sounds like a description of South Africa or California in the United States of America! What are you on?

USA, Canada / To move back to Poland from the USA or not to move back....that is the question [119]

re much lower but you can't put a price on happiness as you can all imagin

Why are you so unhappy in America? Would you be happier in Poland? If you have lived in America all your life and are educated there, would Poland be a positive step to make? Most education in America is private and has to be paid for so I assume that your family in America has been quite successful financially. I have studied the Poles in depth as I have just come back from Spain and have seen how they behave both in the swimming pool as well as in the food hall of my hotel! Forget it. Another pipe dream to escape the boredom of success. Many Americans seem to fed up with their lives, I suppose it is the fault of the American merrytocracy. What about Canada?

USA, Canada / To move back to Poland from the USA or not to move back....that is the question [119]

I can honestly say that nothing on Gods Earth would make me chose Poland to live in. I think that it is a dreadful place. Everybody is very poor and life expectancy is short. I know as I have visited grave yards in Poland and they are overfilling with dead young people. I would personally not have anything to do with Russia, The Ukraine or Poland. The Czech Republic, Slovakia or even Hungary is quite a different thing all together. I think that polish nastiness is genetic-a strange mixture of German blood and Ukrainian spite! I think that in the case of races such as that of the Czechs-their souls can be saved, it is more environmental. In the case of the poor nasty Poles, I think it is in their blood and that there is no real long term cure.

Language / Future tense with bawić się [34]

I would have thought that as the party is going to be a 'one off', and in the future, that therefore the perfective zabawić się sounds correct in this instance.

Language / Polish was chosen the HARDEST LANGUAGE in the world to learn... :D [1558]

How excellent and how many? 5?

There are a lot of Europeans in Poland now as the borders have opened up and Polish can be spoken among British teachers who originally went to Poland years ago as teachers of English, have stayed and have assimilated Polish life, customs and the language.

I could ask the same about you as you too are not so fantastic in either. Anyway, in answering the question, most slavic languages are similar so Polish would be no harder than Czech or Russian, which are grammatically very similar indeed. What about Chinese/ I would have thought that for a European, that would generally be much more difficult. Many Europeans in Poland can speak excellent Polish in Poland after a year or two.

German-only four cases and like five exceptions, everything is logical, of course.

German may not use so many cases but the language is harder than Polish all the same. There are officially more cases in Polish but they are not always used in practice though and the Poles, themselves, rarely know the difference!

Life / Is it me or do any guys in Poland not have shaved heads? [113]

r it's simply their image.

Yes, like everything Polish, it is old fashioned from England in the 1970's. It would look very strange to find people in England today looking like that-it is something taken from the early punk era. Weak people find strength from a group culture and the poles are no exception here either.

I think it is more popular among the working class young poles. It might be practacle whilst working on the farms it might also give them a strong 'he man' image. It is undoubtadly an Eastern European Slav thing.
