Love / How should I approach this young Polish man that I like? [48]

Basically, if he hasn't made a move in six weeks, is it likely that he's not interested in me that way and should I just let it go?

He might be just a little shy many Polish men are, or is a bit intimidated, he's probably just not sure how to approach an English girl, he don't know what your reaction might be. Just go up to him tell him you don't normally do this, but you like him and would like to hang out with him some time.

Do Poles take Kaczynski seriously!?

Poland needs a young energetic politician to lead it, not old commies who think of the past too much and are corrupted, maybe Wojciech Olejniczak? just a suggestion en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wojciech_Olejniczak

Life / Weather in Poland - some explanations [30]

I dunno about beach in the summer, i don't think it gets hot enough on the Baltic coast, it's all a matter of preference most Poles like cool or cold weather, and seeing the four seasons is a good thing.

News / Polish Lithuanian Diplomatic War? At last. [533]

Lithuanian minority, much smaller has all those rights in Poland, Polish minority the largest in that country doesn't, both EU countries, that is discrimination, Lithuanians claim it's to protect themselves from being assimilated, the Polish and Russian minority are about 6.5% each give or take, i doubt there gonna assimilate the Lithuanians, Lithuania isn't occupied by any nation it's a free EU state, there is no threat to its sovereignty or national identity. If Poland gives the Lithuanians full minority rights Lithuania should also., not use some cheap excuses.

Poland snuggling up to Russia on the back of it's neighbour??? ;)

Well i think good relations with Germany and Russia are far more important to Poland, not just to have peaceful relations with those two, but economic benefits. Lithuanians mistrust us, during the Polish-Soviet War (Bolshevik) of 1920, after driving the enemy back, Polish soldiers decided to just 'take' Vilnius while they're there, and incorporate part of Lithuania into Poland. Then Soviets annexed them in 1940. They have they're reasons.

Poland should just bring these 210 thousand or so Poles from Lithuania and 400 thousand from Belarus back to Poland if it really cares for them, it's just a matter of time before they're all assimilated mixing with the general population. A million Poles left Poland in recent years, these newcomers many young would fill their places.

Umm i'm not so sure, he means native as in originally from that land they live on, Poles have been living there since the late 16th century (Polish nobility bought land) the common people moved in large number at the beginning of the 19th century, so for at least a couple hundred years. Yet no Poles are native to that land, no Polish (Slavic) tribes lived on the land that is today Lithuania, just being fair.

Life / Weather in Poland - some explanations [30]

haven't been to Poland in a few years maybe weather has changed, last time i was in the winter time and it was bitterly cold, -20 Celsius, even colder during the night. Summers of 95' and 96' were very hot, at least a month and a half straight hot dry weather, remember all the grass turning light yellow from the heat and sun.

News / Polish Lithuanian Diplomatic War? At last. [533]

in 1791 Kingdom of Poland and Duchy of Lithuania by the parliamentary act of their representatives become one and undivided country

That was at the very end of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealths existence, it was a desperate move to try and save the country by uniting the people. Since the early 1700s a secret Prussian-Austrian-Russian alliance set at weakening Poland took it effects, they did as little economic trade with them as possible, no military alliances, constantly interfered in it's politics, bribing Polish and Lithuanian nobles to pick kings that would favor one of them or all. By 1791 Poland was basically a vassal state.

by 1791 Poles made a move which would change that sad state of affairs, they attempted to reform their system of government, and accepted on the 3rd day of May - Constitution !

True, those nobles who betrayed Poland saw what exactly it's neighbors were doing to Poland united with the patriots, and passed the Constitution, but by that time it was already too late, Poland was a big but very weak state, involvement in foreign wars, little foreign trade for decades weakened the vast state, at the same time its 3 aggressive neighbors though taxing its citizens and trade, had large professional standing armies.

He was a Polonized Lithuanian nobleman just like 99% of the nobility around Lithuania/Belarus/Ukraine. They all embraced polish culture.

Lithuanians polonized on their own not by force, Lithuanian nobility admired their Polish counterparts, as Poland was the wealthier and stronger military of the two, thus having more influence, the Lithuanian nobles over time became more Polish than Polish nobles, clothing, music, food, faith everything.

Genealogy / Is tallness common among Polish people? [201]

I'm 180 cm tall, which is relatively short for Dutch standards.

183 is average for Dutch men, tallest in the world, i think if every person growing up in Poland was as well fed, protein intake, calcium, vitamins all that as westerners get they'd be up there on top. AJ shorter people may live longer but they don't get girls, many die childless.

Depends on how tall the girls around them are. (See, in a country like Ireland, I'd be pretty f*cking tall!)

hmm i thought the Irish were tall men, i think short i think Sicilian Portuguese or Greek

Love / What do Polish guys think of Irish girls? [187]

Polish women are ugly f..king Sluts all of them. Home wrecking tramps who should not be allowed in Ireland. You can tell them a mile away they look cheap and dirty.

HAHAHA one must have stolen your man. I'd say at least half are pretty and are not dirty, maybe some country girl from hujowa gorka.

That's what I mean. So, do I go to Ireland, or do I go to Poland? (Or should I date an Eskimo?)

I'd date a tall Dutch girl lol, but here in the States i'd have to go to Minnesota or Iowa to find Dutch Americans in large numbers. Going back to my theory, it's gotta be the food and amount, i know many Irish Americans and some are very tall, taller than me even.

Because tall Dutch guys are definitely taller than you. (Think 200 cm or even taller!)

Yea right i'm sure there are tons taller than 196, 200cm or taller is way too tall, but like you said it depends on the girl and how tall she is.

You'll find a lot of Irish-Americans come from farming stock.

Big, tough, broad shouldered, tall, leathery etc. Basically the typical cliché of the indestructible & tenacious Detective O' Rourke in some cop movie or whatever.

The type isn't exactly rare in Ireland but not what you would call the norm either.

You're absolutely right, most came during the famine in the 19th century, the ones that were most affected by it the farmers. Came to America lived in the inter city, did hard labor, industrial jobs, just like later the Polish immigrants.

News / Poland goes bankrupt? [110]

Argentina went bancrupt with the deficit as high as only 100 mld dol. of debts. Poland's today deficit is 260 mld dol. of debts...

Because Argentina started crying like a little girl, Poland has had much tougher times and will get past this "little" issue.

Dinaric sub-type (Serbs and Croats), since 28% measure 190 cm or more in height, as opposed to only 20% in Holland and 1.5% in France

28% of Serbs, are you serious? that is alot. Here in the States they say 4.5% of Americans are 190cm or taller, but that's including, Hispanic and Asian Americans which are not, i'm sure the percentage for white Americans is much higher, i don't know how it is now but just a few years back they were second after the Dutch.

Yep. Going back to the movie cop analogy - if the tough cop isn't called O'Rourke or Murphy then he'll probably be call Kowalski or something ; )

Haha yep, or like McCluskey the big Irish American cop in The Godfather.
