Food / Polish food in Pictures. [277]

Try to soak the gołąbki in mushroom or tomatoes sauce (which one you prefer) for a bit. It's more tasty that way.

Life / Some Poles have fine houses [68]

family-size house just outside Warsaw is bigger than that of most people I know in England

I find English houses to be small, old and outated. Just like old-school houses in Poland, but still a bit bigger. :)

Have a look:

You don't think that every Pole owns a house looking like that, right? :)

You dont think that every english person lives in a house like that do you ? :)

No, I don't. :) And I have never been in England! LOL! But that's what I see on tv. You guys gotta do something about that image. :)

American houses built with 2x4's and plywood

Amazing how many heavy pictures the wall can hold, tough. ;)

Work / Polish schoolteachers are being crushed by the system [24]

there is far too much emphasis on remembering and not enough on actual learning.

Very true. Do you know the very popular "3 Zs rule"? "Zakuc-Zdac-Zapomniec". "Memorize-Pass exam-Forget".

Work / Polish schoolteachers are being crushed by the system [24]

Both sides suck. Teachers suck and students suck.
Polish teachers (and I'm not talking about Brits who teach English to the Poles) do not care about a quality of education they "sell' to the student and Polish students do not care about getting any quality education, they don't learn how to think for themselves, analize, no logic there what so ever, they memorize some lines from textbooks, pass tests and exams and the minute after that, they forget what it was even about, plus they behave horribly with no respect towards teachers and each other.

It's a "magic" circle. And there must be something done about that.

Language / Baby blessing for Polish female baby [7]

This is nice

Z okazji narodzin waszego maleństwa, życzymy mu beztroskiego i zdrowego dzieciństwa, a Wam - odkrywania nowych uroków wspólnego życia.

Translation soon. I have to go now. :)

Hundreds of these out and about:

Cool old school.

Many "modern" houses in Poland aren't finish all the way to the top. I guess - too ambitious project for not enough of money. Is it?

Life / Are Poles bankrupt? [35]

The real question is not if they are, but how much they are in debt?

Poles borrow money from banks or family and friends.

The main reason they declare is to survive every day life - 32%,
to renovate a house/apartment, to buy a new home appliance etc. or a car.

Also: do you think in the future Poland will be in even bigger financial trouble then Greece?

Evidence?

Just a question. What do you think?

USA, Canada / What are the odds of my girlfriend getting a USA tourist visa? [70]

I thought I read somewhere that private schools would be very willing to hire native english speakers even with no teaching experience because of the need for people of native tongue?

Not anymore. Knowing Engish is common now.

Even if it's for lousy pay and crappy hours, it would suffice.

How about working at McDonald's or any other restaurant? It's an idea for young people.

Work / I'M SO SURPRISED BY THIS SALARY FOR IBM in WROCLAW 3000 ZL gross [135]

high expactations regarding education etc

That's just an excuse for not to hire a person, because an employer would have to pay him/her more $. "Cheap labor" in Poland rules. Sad that educated people work below their qualifications and such little money.

Love / Do some Polish women prefer older men for money? [57]

Most Polish Woman want a older man for money

Men insist they do not understand woman's mind, yet they are so sure it's all about money.
Make up your mind, because it only proves man's little thinking capabilities.
